ROM manager - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Ok im kinda new but not a noob I rooted sgs2e4gt and now flashed to straight talk problem is right after flash laptop died crashed done for land of no return so im asking has anyone use ROM manager and if so wat just anything to flash to with out sprint bloatware please help hit sprint 7days in to contact internet sucks a## couldn't even load YouTube

Not really sure what you're trying to ask...it would help if you wrote more clearly :|. So even with the crash, you rooted successfully?
If you're asking what ROMs are recommended, try BlazerROM or Calkulin. Both of these (and most ROMs) remove bloatware.
As for the internet problem, try flashing another modem. There are like 6 different types of modems that you can consider. There is no best...it varies from person to person so you're going to have to experiment.
Also, for the record, avoiding using ROM Manager once you flash a ROM...it only causes problems.

Ok thank you I did get root successfully but I have no other CPU in house .so there no way I can get this bloatwRe off without CPU only way now for me to change is ROM manager right or do have a better way from Phone and if so I haven't seen one ROM but in ROM manager

Holy run on sentence, Batman!
Stupidity has no cure. Read the directions. Try harder.

Don't mean to be rude, but please you some punctuation, it's a little difficult to read your posts!
That being said, if you have root, do you have a custom recovery? If so, just flash the ROM's from recovery.
Most of the custom ROM's have all the bloat removed.

If you are rooted get Root Explorer and delete your bloatware

You can also download zip files from your device. I do it quite often. Once I DL them, I go into astro (or whatever file manger you're using) and copy to external sd. I delete it from downloaded (so I don't flood my internal) Boot into recovery and flash. Voila

Yeah I wasnt going to do anything important just stuff like galaxy s tuner and kies air and other stuff I have never used
yup, i generally do that with all roms i download.. go through and pull out stuff i don't want/need before flashing..
Thanks for the fast response I just did it so hopefully next time I flash it is a little cleaner I made a copy of the original in case I did something wrong I can always install it the way it has always worked in the past.

[Q] Removing Zips

Once I have uploaded a ROM ZIP, or for that fact, any ZIP file onto my phone and flash it, do I have to leave the ZIP file on the phone?? I set my GS2 up with Darkside 3.7 and want to remove the ZIP if it isnt necessary. I searched through the forum and didn't find anything that answers my question.
Am new to the GS2 and modding it. Only previous phone I modded was the Motorola Zine ZN5 a few years back and the procedures are a bit different.
You can delete them. I like to keep at least one in case I have flashing issues plus any nandroid restoring trouble. Just as an extra backup plan. I also keep stuff I use anytime I flash. Darkside wipes, gapps, etc. To save from having to redownload.

Thank you. I am still on the fence as far as removing any of them but just wasn't sure if doing so would cause any problems.
I just created a folder for mods that I keep all mine in. Keeps them from floating around the root of the sd card where I'm constantly seeing and scrolling through them

[Q] Need help since I'm new to Sammy

Earlier this week my Sensation 4g died. I bought a Note 2. Little did I know that there were issues with it that I and others have with it, ie: no easy immediate way to do app to sd for instance. Another thing I wanted was to be able to add or take away data from installed apps by connecting the phone to a computer via usb and accessing the files that way, which again doesn't happen without some work.
Since then I have rooted the phone (according to the download mode screen, which says: current binary and system status is custom.
I have left everything stock except for the rooting part and installed Superuser and SuperSU and then tried to run Titanium Backup (free) when it said 'could not access root using \something\something\su command".
I have tried several other apps and methods of trying to do what I want (from the first paragraph) but none have succeeded either due lack of documentation (and I didn't know how to do a certain step or fix something) or it just didn't work.
So where am I at now? I have factory reset my phone and am now honestly not sure where to go or what to do from here. I've Googled and Googled but nothing quite seems to be able to fix what I need and if it does then it has the lack of documentation and can't help me.
Any thoughts or guides or something that anyone could post/link to? Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken but kernels don't deal with being able to save apps to sd. I could be wrong since I don't dabble in android dev. Thanks though.
We need background... 1st of all...
What way did you use to root (Cf_auto_root, Stock-root injected, etc)?
Does your phone still have exynos_exploit or did your phone come with that "OTA Update" pre installed?
What SD card are you using?
What rom/kernal are you trying to run?
Most of the time, in this particular forum, its seems best to just ask what your trying to accomplish within the various rom/kernal thread...
Like lets say im on Stick injected rom/kernal without extsd2internalsd (apps2sd) setup and lets say I want to go to Jedi Master 9.... I would then go to Jedi Master 9 thread and ask for help on how to effectively apply that rom with ExtSd2internalsd support from my current setup, and wait for the OP or seniors to reply... also while "patiently waiting" I would read/search through the hundreds of pages looking for answers/insights to my particular process... if needed might go to my own root process thread and ask for advice on how to get to jedi master 9
Id be more than willing to help you here but need some background on your phones current status and end rom/kernal to provide an answer (to be sure I dont lead you awry

Thanks. I did answer that I am running everything stock at the moment, just rooted, no kernel or rom. I have an 8gb class 4 microsd card. My root method was cf auto root. I also stated what I was hoping to achieve also (in my first paragraph). Hopefully this helps.
Oh, if possible I'd like the easiest way to remove or disable system apps like chat on or some of the tmobile stuff. I tried a couple different methods with that too but couldn't quite get it all to work.
I tried the qtadb app but couldn't get my device to be seen by the program on the computer and i tried that app because I had no idea where to start with regular adb, its been a long time since i've done any of this stuff.
To remove or disable system apps I use root uninstaller, sometimes it won't delete system apps on the first try just exit the app go back and do it again second attemt will do, for your data problem I'll try root browser or root Explorer

Well it turns out you can download and install apps requiring root but they just wont run correctly, if at all. I know because after my factory reset, i downloaded and ran 2 root checker apps, both of which said I no longer have root or something. So now I'm just going through the rooting process again.
Edit: I'm not rooted again, as checked by 2 root confirmation apps. Now to try to get TB running and remove bloatware.
Edit 2: Great success! I got TB to work, bought PRO and have just frozen everything i dont need or dont use.

[Q] Phone Won't Remember Default Apps

Hello. When I am opening files or links it will ask me what app I would like to use, and even though I select "Always" afterwards it still prompts me again the next time I try the same action. Now I just hit "Just Once" in order to avoid that annoying "Clear defaults" message (Yes phone, I know where to clear defaults, you've told me a thousand times...). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
What Rom? Rooted or not?
Did you try the usual, turn it off and pull the battery, clean the odex left over files. ..etc?
Maybe some tweaks you did or a roque app you installed?
More information would be helpful.

Hello. It is rooted, but I'm pretty sure that this issue predates the rooting. I did it with a one click solution from here so I'm not sure what the rom is called. The screen shot attached should give you that info. Also, not sure what you mean by "clean the odex left over files". Thanks.

You are currently on the old stock Rom.
Go here and install the latest version UVBMD1:

Most likely that will fix your problem.

Does it matter which one I install (Factory Image, Odexed , Deodexed, Kernel, Modem)?
Also, can I just use ROM Manager from the app store o install it? Thanks.

It is up to you which one you want.
It looks to me that you didn't do this before, so my advice is to read, read, read and when you think you understand it READ everything all over again. We don't want you to brick your phone.
Go to Original Development section and learn how to flash Roms.
Good luck.

I've rooted and flashed roms before on my previous two LG phones and my tablet, I've just haven't seen them labeled like that before (Factory Image, Odexed , Deodexed, Kernel, Modem). My question is: Which is the best/easiest one to use for a newb like me (or a link to good thread that explains the difference)? Thanks.

I've been having the same issue.
T mobile note 2
Latest at&t Bean stalk Rom
Latest Devil kernel
No system apps are restored with tb
Basically no apps retain default settings
Examples
Facebook: does not retain dolphin as default browser
Handcent: does not retain quickpic as default gallery
This happens even if phone is not shut off. I can set them as default apps and at some point in the day they lose the setting. Happens whether clean install or dirty flash. Any ideas? If more info needed please advise.

I should add that some of my defaults work fine. I use different text editors to work on files from different apps and never have any issues with those. It seems to be mostly browsing issues on my phone.

[Q] Galaxy Note II (SGH-T889V) rooting problems

Hello to everyone.
I am really ready to give up trying to fix the issues that happened after I rooted my Galaxy Note II (SGH-T889V).
Rooted my phone successfully through the procedure described by Chainfire, worked flawlessly, got SU installed. The purpose of the rooting was to get rid of bloatware that took a lot of memory, battery and space. Deleted all prescribed programs, restarted my note and that is where problems started. Obviously, I accidentally deleted something that is related to contacts, messaging and keypad to dial phone numbers. Tried to manually dial the number on the keypad, I got it frozen after inputting 3 numbers (area code) and then black screen appears with the error *Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped* and it goes to home screen. Same happening with messaging. Basically, I lost 2 of the most abilities of the phone to call out/in and send texts in/out. As recommended on some forums here, I cleaned data in Contacts and Contact storage, but it did not help.
I am brand new to this rooting stuff, but it went OK, I screwed somewhere on the step of deleting bloatware from the phone. Lost any idea and hope what to do...My phone is pretty useless now...
Phone data (if it is needed to get an idea what happened and how to fix it) :
Samsung Galaxy Note II SGH-T889VVLBMA3
Jelly Bean 4.1.2
Kernel 3.031-861899

THANK You and Grateful!
Do you happen to know what apps you deleted? Actually it would be easier if you just get a log cat of the fc. An app like cat log will do the trick
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
You most likely deleted one of the contact system apps. It's usually better to freeze an app first (I use titanium backup) to see if there are any problems. If you have a custom recovery twrp or cwm you can flash a custom stock based rom that are usually already debloated. If not use odin and go back to stock and start over. Make sure to backup your essential files/pics first. If you odin back to stock everything on your internal storage will be lost.

I recall majority of Google apps like maps, search, earth, learning hub, movie, music, google+, chrome, news, yahoo news, chokoEURoe, magazines etc. I will try to run catlog and post the results here.

I backed up everything to google servers through my gmail account, but it did not work, tried to restore it from there but it showed nothing was backed...I do not have custom recovery, so I am going with odin option then? Do I need something else in addition to odin, like original rom T889VVLBMA3? I backed up all my files to the computer HD, hopefully this time I will find files.
In odin does it matter what signature is showing in the top left corner of the screen - I saw T889V, Galaxy SIII , I3171. Do they indicate to which version of Galaxy this odin version was developed? My sorry for these obvious questions, but its better be safe than sorry (for me now). Also, I read on this forum that in addition to restore to stock rom it needs to be cache and factory reset done to get the phone back to *normal* mode and *official*. Do I need to do these as well?
Thank You a lot for providing guidance to me! Very much grateful!

Update 1.
Tried to download and install Catlog from google play, the download stuck at running line for about 10 minutes and then showed *Cannot download due to an error (927)* I guess need to go for a complete restore. What is your opinion?
THANK YOU!
Update 2. So I decided to go for a full recovery to original stock ROM T889_MTC_VVLBMA3 through Odin option v.3.07 It took about 8 minutes, but, Thanks God, it worked flawlessly and now I back to my factory shipped condition Note II
Thank You very much for participation and your advises, much appreciated!
Now I am debating with myself one question - do I need to go for another try of rooting? Major concern is that phone has too many stock applications that I do not like and will never use in m life. What would be your opinion on that matter?
Also, can you point me in right direction how to do it right way? Previously, I used Chainfire method and it worked nicely, should I go with it or there are another ways to do it (I just looking for rooting)?
And one more : there is a description how to root phone by technique from Mr. Robinson and there are links to files to be used with Odin (root66...), but any link that I used for downloading provided me me corrupted 7z archive. Do you know any other rights links to these files?
Thank you aain and best of luck to everyone!
Cheers!
I would recommend a custom rom. Jedimaster and tweaked are very popular here. Both are based off of the stock rom and are debloated. I would download goo manager and use the option to install custom recovery. This will install twrp recovery. Read up on how to use twrp. Its easy once you get familiar with it. In twrp you can make nandroids (backups) of your current rom and install others. Now that you know how to use odin and go back stock everything else should come easy. As far as root I always use odin. Checkout galaxynote2root.com there are great tutorials there and links needed for root and just about everything else.

INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY after you root the phone. Then - reboot and you'll see how it works. You should read upon the very basics of rooting/installing custom roms. Fundamental stuff. Jedi are good custorm roms, I prefer AOSP but you have to use gapps for those.
Download Jedi .zip file and put it on the external card (over 1G) navigate through custome rec, wipe cache/dalvik cashe /system; go back to main menu/install click on .zip file wherever you put it on your external card (preferred to internal) and you're done. I used exynos exploit one click root, and TWRP recovery. It's actually quite simple once go over this first time.
