I recently changed over to the MikG 3.0 Rom from Warm 2.2. I have a rosie zip that I downloaded for Warm 2.2 that has little android guys for the buttons. I can't seem to find where I got it.
I flashed it anyway and it caused the phone to keep getting a force close message when it tried to boot and I couldn't do anything. Everytime you click close it would pop up again.
I wanted to know if it's possible to make that rosie work on MikG 3? I'm fairly new so it someone could help me out I greatly appreciate it. I really like that rosie and want to be able to use it on the new rom.
You will have to modify the Rosie to work with mikg u can do it by swapping the images in the apk tommytomatoe had a DIY Rosie guide follow it and swap the images then flash the modified version a 2.2 Rosie wont work on 2.3 and most mods are rom specific so even if u went from warm 2.2 to another 2.2 rom it would forceclose to fix your current FC issue wipe cache and dalvik cache and flash Mikg over itself it will leave all of your setting and data intact and put the original Rosie back so u don't get the FC

I think i've just got my head around ROMs and all the other millions of acronyms. I do like the look of the Oxygen ROM, only i'm not a fan of the green icons in the status bar, is the colour changeable, and does anyone suggest Oxygen as a good ROM to flash for a first timer?
I must add i love the dark bar and prefer having a dark background, so silver/bright etc task bars are a no no
Cheers.
Oxygen is a great ROM, but i would reccomend u go for a froyo rom first so u got more options with themes and such. but rly its a matter of taste and what u want .. stability or experimental.
Experimental: CyanogenMod 7
Stable: eMIUI, Oxygen 1.0.4
Sense roms?
Hmm im using Sense HD port now, since everything works. its stable¨
im using InsertCoin with my own tweaks and theme
u can allways check out my FroSTeD GingerBread theme for Oxygen 1.0.4^^
Rom and theme here
BUT, if u decide to go for a Android 2.3 Rom i rly recommend CM 7, Oxygen 2 RC7 is just as good but less theming options i think.
Heres a nice theme for CM7 Rom
Clicky
I tried the insert coin 1.8 and got caught in a never ending bootloop lol.
I have Leedroid 2.3d A2SD. It's slick and stable and had no issues with it.

then u did not do it right. read the whole first page. then u can complain if u did everything 100%. ive not had 1 single rom on bootloop. to get insertcoin to work u need EXT 4 partition with 1gb recommended. its not hard if u actually read what to do istead of just trying the easy way like Leedroid is. and leedroid was boring and old news
Well im now running on Oxygen 2.3.2 which is really nice.
However...i keep getting a message saying "The application settings (android.process.media) has stopped unexpectadly. Please try again"
This is ALWAYS the case when i choose the "sound" option from the settings menu.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
It means you didn't wipe properly before installing the rom. Boot in to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache (under advanced) start up and see if the problem persists, if yes you need to do a full wipe(data/factory reset, cache and dalvik cache).
Shall give it a go. Odd seeing as i did wipe it all before 0_0
Also, i assume if i factory reset, is that from the recovery menu, and then re install the ROM?
Yes, all wipes from recovery and then reflash the rom. Keep in mind all the data on the phone will be gone.
Exactly the same problem...i'm using Launcher Pro Plus if that's any help.
This is precisely why i've put off flashing ROMs for this long, to prevent naffing up my phone, and now
Well if you don't want any issues I don't understand why you would install a RC, also I'm pretty sure the fc is not a rom issue but a user issue.
If you did everything correctly you should have a normal functioning rom (except form the know issues), even with launcher pro plus cause i have the same setup.
Have you ever disabled signature verification? If yes there is a small chance your issues are caused by a corrupted zip file.
If you can't get oxygen to work and want a really stable custom rom use Leedroid. If you are done with rooting and custom rom's just run the latest RUU.
Thanks for the quick reply, where can i access the lastest RUUs to flash them from please? I may well try again at a later date, but it seems too much hassle currently with having to reset and change everything *sigh*
I've just reset to the last point using Nandroid before i flashed the ROM. I've still got root access which is good, but everything runs back to normal now.
A brief foray into the murky waters lol!
mrfish123,
Pretty sure I know what is causing your problem as I recently resolved this issue myself. If I'm right you did a full wipe before installing, but the issues started after restoring your apps (titanium backup?).
What I was doing was wiping and then restoring all apps with data. Lots of these are system settings/apps which come from the old ROM, so in effect you re restoring all the stuff you wiped in the first place.
What you need to do is:
Wipe (system wipe from recovery, and do the chache and dalvik cache too for good measure).
Install ROM
In Titanium select 'restore missing apps with data', but before you run it, go through the list and uncheck absolutely everything which is not obviously an app you have installed yourself, so anything HTC, system etc. You only want to restore your apps.
Once I did this I had no issue installing a custom ROM, and have had no problems running it for over a week.

Redux-RC2.1 (Gingerbread 2.3.2) highly recommended - smooth and fast

running leedroid atm, so far everything seems nice
i been trying to install Slayer69 cyan dragon theme. ive tried 3 different roms and nothin seems to work.
it will all flash but when i get the the lock screen and swipe down. i will get a thing stating it cant the country im in which i saw there was a issue with that. BUT after i get rid of that the google setup crashes and the android it self crashes.
any ways to get around this.
What ROM are you running?
myn's warm rls5 or mikfroyo 4.5. but i think i like mikfroyo more

Just for reference...what steps are you taking when flashing the rom and theme?
ive done it two ways.
1st way:
1.wide the data system delivk
2. flash Myn's warm or mikfroyo
3. reboot
4. shutoff to get into recovery
5. flash theme and reboot again
2nd way:
all the same but i flash the theme after flashing the rom i want.
as soon as you get the country issue pop the battery and reboot and see if it takes care of it. I got it a few times on riptide and that worked for me.
ok i will attempt that later today. thank you.
Hi sorry I am new but a long time lurker lol.
I have GingerVillain 1.0 on my HTC Desire (UK), and I want to update it to 1.2 but I was wondering do I have to wipe everything or can I keep my apps/theme/look and feel on my phone.
ie. My homescreen and the dock icons and power bar and the background and clock and notification settings etc. Or will these all have to be reset if I want to upgrade to GV 1.2
ANy help is very much appreciated
Since you are only upgrading to a newer version of the same ROM I would imagine you would not need to wipe everything. I would say just to do a backup using recovery (Just to be safe) and then install the update. I use CM7 and when I update CM7 nightly updates I don't need to wipe everything. Hope this helps you mate.

Couldn't of said it better myself.
No need to wipe!
Works fine.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Thank you guys, very helpful and much appreciated!
started with ginger villain 0.8, updated to 0.9 and now still running 1.0 all without wiping between them.
Working fine without problems. Using villain setup.
Thanks for the help, I did this and it worked fine
One further Q I do have though is that through the update I lost my battery mod. And I swear it was in the villain setup? But its not there now..
Basically is a circle battery mod, with the percentage in the middle and dots around it that dissapear as the battery discharges.
Any ideas what mod this is/what I could get to replace it...
how do i get the htc flip clock on stock evo rom rooted
Go to add widgets - select the clock widget and slide through them until you get to the flip clock version.
If you're talking about a clock that actually flips, try this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853832
I've never understood everyone's fascination with a clock that flips... it's not like your going to sit there and watch it, waiting for it to flip with each minute. But hey, whatever you like is what you like, and that's totally cool.
EDIT: You need to be on a deodexed rom for the flip ones to work. If you're completely stock/never flashed a rom, you'll need to flash the deodexed stock rooted rom. Do a backup in recovery before flashing and if you want to save your apps + data, back everything up with Titanium Backup. Then wipe cache, dalvik cache and data, then flash the rom. If you need more detailed instructions do a search, there are plenty of guides floating around.
If you don't want to flash anything, these will not work.
You can also choose another Sense rom - Myn's Warm 2.2 and MikFroyo are good places to start. Remember, if you don't like your new rom you can always restore from your nandroid backup and everything will be like it was... like nothing happened. If you need any help after searching, ask here or send me a pm. Good luck!
My Evo + xda Premium App = This post.
I'm hoping someone can help me with my issue. I was also trying to get the flip clock to work on my stock rooted evo 4g. I had backed up all my apps and data with MYbackup and proceeded to flash the flip clock widget ported from the Desire through recovery, it said it had installed. I then rebooted the phone, just to find that there was no clock on my homescreen at all. I went to my widgets to see if i could choose the animated flip clock that i had installed, all that was there was just the one digital clock to choose, nothing else. As of right now, i have no stock clock/weather widget. Could someone please help me get it back. Ps.....I'm very new to android and this flashing/rooting thing. Thanks in advanced!

As I mentioned previously, you need to be on a deodexed rom to flash those flip clocks - the stock rom that comes with the phone out of the box is odexed. Deodexed roms allow for easier theming. Since your rom was not deodexed, it probably just wrote over the working widget with an incompatible version.
My suggestion - go ahead and find a rom you like and flash it. Don't forget to do a nandroid backup first. Wipe cache, dalvik cache, and data. Once you've flashed it, restore your apps & enjoy. You can always go back to stock by restoring your backup, flashing the stock rooted rom (odexed or deodexed, your choice), or Sprint Lovers is pretty close to stock with a couple tweaks.
Oh and read the directions thoroughly when flashing anything. If you flash a radio update, when you reboot you'll see a potentially scary-looking screen. Wait until it throws you back to recovery - that screen is supposed to be there. Mine shows a green down arrow inside a circle pointing at a phone (or something like that) but yours may look different. Do not pull the battery, you'll brick the phone. I'm only telling you this because I've heard of it happening to a few people lately. It's also a good example of why you should read every word of the instructions. If you need anything else, just ask :]

Thanks for the response. I would just like to get back to my stock rom with all apps and data intact, as before i tried to get that flip clock to work. I have no clock right now, i need that. As i stated before, i'm new to this stuff. Can you give me detailed instructions, on what to do? I mean, what is this dalvik thing? I'm sorry for not being in the know. And if you remember, i only used MYbackup. Thanks for everything again!
my mom and brother updated their Evo's with the OTA update and i see they have some new text selector with precision tabs, like on the CyanogenMods, and i was wondering if there is any way to get my Rooted Evo to do that with out unrooting and updating? i am using the Warm2.2 rom at the moment and i don't really want to wipe and start fresh just for a text selection quirk so i'm hoping someone can help.
im pretty sure the text selection pins and everything are a gingerbread only feature, you would have to switch to a gingerbread rom to get it
If you want to use the stock rom, don't unroot. Just flash the rooted stock rom.
You could also flash a "gingersense" rom if you want to stick with Sense and try GB. Just do a nandroid backup before flashing, that way if you don't like it or if something goes wrong, you can just restore from your backup.
