hi all,
perdono me, if this has been answered somewhere else, tried the search and google but no luck.
namely, i have lower reception quality with ICS (no matter which version) and by half, that is. i thought it was specific ROM related, but yesterday i have flashed my third version by K900 (after dk-zeroo cool's and sandvold's), yet the issue (?) remains.
is it radio, kernel or something else related? did anyone else at all notice this, or is it on my end only? it's not really a deal breaker but i can't go as far away from WiFi transmitter as with GB.
thx in advance...
i get great reception with ics myself
before i could go outside and have some signal. now i go to another room and is barely there... no such prob with GB roms...
but if nobody else is experiencing this then i really can't imagine what could be the problem...
anyone?

Hi, i am currently using MCR 3.0 and everything is good, however, the GPS doesnt always get a fix. I can see with GPS status that it can see like 10 sattelites but cannot even get a single fix after 30mins. Sometimes it works really quickly, sometimes it doesnt work at all. Does anybody have a fix for this problem?
What Radio/Baseband are you using?
Right now I'm using 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29 and am experiencing similar issues.
I may consider jumping up to 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26, which is supposedly much better, but apparently it kills WiFi as well.
mm radios affect the GPS and wifi as well? i always thought that it only affects the phone reception. right now im also using 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.08.29, maybe i'll try upgrading it.
Well, unless it's any different than when I had my HTC Vogue, yeah, the Radio affects every wireless function of the phone essentially.
Just be careful upgrading to 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26, one user reported that the WiFi issues became permanent for some reason.

i am using 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26 with MCR 3.0, no wifi problems for me. used it on the Hero21 1.7 with no problems also
Interesting, interesting... Now I'm tempted.
I'm on the stock (downgraded, rooted) ROM right now. I wonder if it will work properly.
i upgraded it, the wifi seemed to be much better now but i didnt see much difference with the GPS
Hi,
I've upgraded to GB ROM a week ago and since then although I've installed several versions of GB I'm keep getting wifi dropping to data once wifi signal is low.
I've seen several threads on this and even one fix to HTC desire S (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051674)
My question - do you've a fix for this? Can someone migrate this fix into Desire GB ROM?
Thank you,
This is critical since most of the day I'm in my work and there the signal is weak.
Moshe
First of all, how did you manage to answer the question 'what am I developing' with this?
Second, unless it drops out right next to an AP, it is the way GB works. It is not very nice trying to keep connection in this manner, but it does.
What's is AP stands for. I'll move the Q to HTC Desire forum
AP is an abbreviation for access point. Are you in close proximity to yours? It does not look like an issue to me if you get weak signal where it is due. But if you are right next to it and it still drops, then yeah, I'd call it that. Happened to me once or twice.
Thank you.
It's drop only while I'm far from the AP. BUT and this is really annoying in FROYO I get the signal and can work even if I'm far from the AP while with GB it drops!
I know what you mean...i have the same...in the first time of gb we have this problem..also in the near of the router...but with snq v5 kernel its good...
but the wifi signal goes much quicker if we are a far away of the router...this was not so with froyo...but the signal with froyo was also 0...so i donĀ“t know if its really a issue...maybe htc things its better to drop complete and goes back to 3g ..to have always a connection...but not sure about this...think about it...
with kind regards..Alex
Thank you.
Any chance to implement the Desire S fix into Desire GB ROM?

+1. That would be great
Same problem here. Froyo was better regarding wifi dropping...
this fix is already in...snq patched the wifi modul...look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039004
i think..we must wait for the original gingerbread htc desire update...toget a better radio (and the ril) and maybe a better kernel...and some more...
or maybe the values must be lower again
with kind regards..Alex
So, I'm on vacation and have been using my phone for GPS a lot. I was running CM 7.0.3, and on my way from the airport I randomly get a GPS SIGNAL LOST announcement from the phone and Google navigation just sits at searching for GPS.
I thought maybe this was a CM7 issue since I'd been having issues with GPS before that, so I flashed the new stock GB to attempt to fix it. Today I had the same thing happen...only way to resolve it BTW seems to be a full reboot. Exit navigation and GPS toolbox both didn't work.
I'm using 07.28 radio...any ideas what would cause this or how to fix it?

Why start a new thread for this in the development section? Seems like you should ask in the cm7 thread or in Q&A. Thanks.
Because it has happened over 2 different roms (as i mentioned in the op) with a non standard radio. thats why I didn't just ask in the q&a or cm7 thread.
Im trying to figure out if its a radio issue or something wrong with my phone...
Anyone have any ideas? Has anyone else had this happen across multiple roms?
I hate to be another "me too" without a solution but this just happened with my DInc as well so I'm curious.
Hey guys of late my data connection has been rubbish its so slow and disconnects alot and takes ages to reconnect it has never been this bad before. I dont know if its since I went to ICS 4.0.4 but I have tried a few roms and I currently on BAMF Paradigm v1.25 and franco kernel milestone 3 kernel anyone else have this issue?
Unless the developer explicitly screwed up somewhere...
Roms aren't going to change data connection.
I really don't understand why people assume "OMG BETTER SIGNAL ON B3.3.2a5 compared to B3.3.2a4.
Try flashing a new Radio.
But no, I don't have this problem.
Sounds like hardware to me...
Hey guys,
So I have CM 10 (cm-10-20121104-NIGHTLY) running on my Sprint SGS3, and I absolutely love it. Only thing is, my signal sucks. I NEVER have more than 1 bar, which is a very big hassle for me, as I use the GPS and voice/data a lot. I have to stay connected to wifi whenever I want to surf the web or get directions. It rarely dials out if I want to call someone, or if someone calls me, then it usually doesn't ring on my end, it will just send them to voicemail.
Like I said, I really like CM10 and would hate to flash something else, but the fact that I can't use my phone for basic functions (calling/web) is really annoying. Does anyone else have a similar problem? Or better yet, does anyone have a solution to this? I don't want to lose CM10, but I will if I have to.
Thanks guys.
Do you notice a difference if you turn Airplane mode on then off? I think you're describing a known problem with the 3G radio and CM10...
Noted this too....

I have noted a lesser but similar issue. When I am at work (in a moderate sized city) I get 2 -3 bars with CM10 but 0 signal where I used to get at least 1 bar or roaming one bar with TW. I posted recently about this issue and have noted other comments (like in the Sprint website phone reviews) that are similarly focused.
I have found that the stock ROM will give me signal (I can dial out) where CM10 frequently won't (no dial out). Others have suggested that it is a matter of perception and dissimilar scales. I may waste the time collecting actual data... signal strength numbers, etc... Since I cannot have both ROMs running at the same time, it would have to be averaged data... Not sure I am worked up enough for that
You could try some of the other radios available in these forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1787677
Good luck and if you find a ROM/radio combo that improves your signal, let us know!

Im having the same issue. Any luck flashing another radio?
