For some reason my phone signal meter has stopped displaying signal strength. The phone will not make calls (says network unavailable), but data is working!
I am running KK6 Baseband, Android 4.0.3m Trinity kernel and AOKP Mauro 21.
The only thing I have done is used tethering for the first time before this started happening. However, I have tried restoring old nandroids and the same thing happens.
Perhaps it's a network problem. I've not tried further afield yet.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Hello all.
I was wondering if anyone else here has had this issue.
Upon using the HotSpot utility (whether it be the included one or the stock HTC one) I have encountered loss of connectivity to Sprint. No calls out or in, no 3G/1X icon, just the bars. No ROAM. Cannot make calls, or use data at all.
The only solution that has worked for me is wipe, reinstall ROM anew. It has happened to me on RC1 and -2.
Any ideas?
I can't be the only one to have this issue... can anyone help?
Wondering if anyone else has this issue. My wifi is pretty weak on my EVO. i had strong connections before, and after, i rooted. But since i started running cm7 my wifi has become very weak. currently, my laptop has full bars, my friend has full bars on her intercept, but my EVO wifi shows only the dot in the wifi signal display is lit up.
Is this a known issue? and is there a fix? as i said, everything was fine when i was stock, unrooted and rooted.
running CM7.1.0, tiamat 4.0.8.
iv flashed several CM7 roms since rooting, all nightlies.
If this has been answered before i apologize. did a search for "wifi" and found no answers.
did u find a fix for this? i have the exact same problem
You may have low bars, as each device [phone] will register the connection strength, but as long as the data is there, nothing to complain about.
Try updating the radio. Somewhere on these forums there is a post with a combo zip that will update all of them all at the same time.

yeah, I had very poor wifi signal and 3g signal with cm7. Liked the look and feel of cm, but with poor wifi and signal strenght, along with gps not working and wifi tether unable to work, I went back to Fresh.
Had AOKP and CM10 installed and each time I have to revert back to Stock or Kyan due to signal issues. Here is the situation, with any of the rom's build off the ucalem baseband that i have installed, I am always getting A LOT of loss of signal under Settings>battery>cell standby, But , when I have a stock or Kyan installed, there is no problem. I know from the nexus that this kind of stuff has to do with the RIL but yet I have not see anything here regarding this nor anyone else complain about the same thing. I am using bell SG3 with MVLLE8. Could the GB rom be reporting signal when in fact there is non, because a couple of times I have noticed that I had no signal but yet on the phone it was showing 2-3 bars then nothing. But using JB It just shows no signal and loads of time without signal. Would love ti get this figured out to be able to run AOPK or Cynaogen. I would flash the baseband, but I do not want any IMEI problems and also I have read that the ATT baseband does not support Dual Cell LTE here in Canada.
So I've had my VZW Galaxy Nexus since launch, and have absolutely loved it. It is by far the best phone I've ever had, and I've had zero problems with it... except for recently.
For the past few months I've had a problem where my signal bars get greyed out and I can't access anything, even when it shows I have full signal. This will happen on 3g, 4g, and wifi, and sometimes toggling airplane mode on and off will fix it, but most of the time I have to just wait for the connection to come back on it's own.
I've read about signal issues plaguing the Nexus, but I always thought it was just where it showed no signal at all. Am I experiencing the issue, or is it something else entirely? And is there anything I can do to try and fix it other than getting a refurbished phone? I have tried every radio combination out there, and have settled on the latest radios (l515.09 V.FF02 / l515.FG02) and the issue has persisted throughout.
TLR - Phone will often grey out bars and I can't connect to anything. Happens in 3g, 4g, and wifi. Is this the signal issue people have been talking about or something different?

Try getting a new Sim card. I've read on other Gnexus forums. That's good fix for the gray bar issues. other solution take out the Sim card and let it sit for a minute or 2 then pop it back in. Lastly a factory reset.

a signal drop is when your device's antenna looses conection to the nearest cell (tower, mobile transmission equipment) totally.
a data drop is what you're experiencing.
this is on stock rom, correct?

It has happened on stock rom. Right now I'm on AOKP JB Build 4 with the 20120726 gapps from goo.im/gapps.
I have encountered some wired problem I can not explain.
I hope someone could shed some light on my problem. and potential help others.
I was running cm 10.2, one day I noticed my GPS was malfunctioning. Sometime, I don't get locked GPS signal when navigating.
I re-flashed cm 10.2. It didn't help.
I then upgraded both modem and bootloader to I747UCUEMJB and installed one of stock 4.3 based rom.
After that, my GPS is back, however, I noticed I lost my LTE signal and could easily lost signal every now and then. (I got no signal for about one minute each time)
I then unplugged my SD card, and reformat the whole phone and flashed cm 11. This time, my GPS is broke again, and no LTE.
I started to think it was a hardware problem.
However, I flashed the famous Dandroid 5.4. Magically, both GPS and LTE is fixed. I got strong GPS and LTE signal all the time.
Any explanation, Anyone?
