Hi guys, i used the search button but I don't find anything. I am looking for the Stock Kernell 4.0.3 for the gsm version of the galaxy nexus. I want to try it on different custom rom instead of the custom kernell provided, but i can't find anywhere where to download it... Any link or suggestions are appreciated...
Search with one l as kernel doesn't have 2
Sorry... Kernel whit only 1 L....
anyone whit this kernel?
I would also appreciate this.
Here you go. This kernel is built from AOSP 4.0.3 r1 using full_maguro-user configuration. Completely stock and is insecure (so you can root yourself).
I'm using my own ROM with this as well. You can flash with fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img

Ok, I may sound stupid here but bear with me. I love my phone on stock because I believe that's how Google want us to use the phone. The only thing custom on my phone is faux kernel which I used to connect to OTG NTFS drive.
But my experience with faux kernel is not that great. The question is: Do you know where I can find a flashable or fastboot-able version of stock GSM 4.0.2 kernel ? I searched up and down the forum and couldn't find it. If you can tell me how to extract is from Google stock image then it will be even better.
Thank
Faux has a zip file that resets your kernel back to what it is in the Rom you flash.....its located in his thread in the development section, the same one with his kernel

Are you using a ROM ? If so, go to the ROM's page and use the boot.img meant for that ROM.
I'm using stock

You have to find and install stock kernel modules zip file in recovery after flashing the boot image. You can use venom flasher of viper forum to revert to stock

Under android dev thread you will find all official RUUs released. Find the one matching your 415.11 code.download it.
Once downloaded, run it. When the first screen comes up, open an explorer, change dir to %tmp%, you will see two newly created directories. In one of them, find the file ROM.zip and copy it somewhere else. Now exit ruu setup. Open ROM.zip file and in it there are the IMG files you seek. However installing only boot.IMG won't work. They need their modules files to work properly. That's what I meant by flashing the modules zip in recovery.

Stock kernel is the boot.img and cannot be apply from recovery. It must be flash in fastboot mode - fastboot flash boot boot.img or use any kernel flasher. And you need to flash the stock modules too.

Hey, I tried (almost) all custom kernels but battery seems to be best at stock kernel.
So I would like to have the stock kernel but I don't know where to get the zip from
I'm running 4.1.1 Can I flash the kernel that shipped with 4.1.2 (assuming it's different and better)?
If not then a link to the kernel with 4.1.1 would be much appreciated.
4.1.1 Stock kernel

The stock kernel is 'kernel.sin', and it's present inside the ICS FTF file.

Newbie here, my Dhd is s-on, ive been flashing and custom rom and kernels to it via cwm and as always i have to flash the boot.img both rom/kernel to fully installed it. Now I want to update my kernel to the newest pacharx release for better battery. but It doesnt have the boot.img which im use to flashing.. when i extract here is what i get:

how do i install this kernel?
i tried flashing the zImage but it doesnt work... please help
You do not extract anything from that zip, just flash it whole from the recovery as you would any boot.img

That IS a kernel, not a ROM. Just flash it via fastboot then... You can also do it via ADB if you know how to, if not, use the search bar

According what I've read in other posts you can't flash a raw kernel.zip with s-on.
It has also been pointed out that a boot.IMG is Rom specific, so they most likely wouldn't be interchangeable between different roms

boot.img is a kernel so don't search for a boot.img in a kernel.zip - it's the same thing only not compressed. ranger4740 is correct. You shouldn't use boot.img from one ROM and put it on another, but that's not what you asked for... As for the fact that you can't flash a kernel.zip with S-ON, I didn't know about that so I can't help you there... Sorry :/ Try asking your question in the kernel thread...

Ok, i also tried to do some research and read some forums, seems my only way to s-off my dhd, which i will be researching next... Thanks:fingers-crossed:
My desired rom has already updated with the kernel that i wanted flash ,so my battery life is now great, although there a bug in battery charging where in it notifies late yet it charges the phone batt. (not that big if a deal for me). Also i created an aroma zip file to install all system update on my phone since the original update flashes the kernel... Thanks for the replies "learn a lot from all those researches i made" :victory:
