Has anyone else running CM9 4.0.3 had this happen? The phone is in silent mode but when you get an incoming call, it rings once before going silent. Also, it is not the normal ringer, but sounds like an old digital type ringer. It rings for about 1/4th of a second before going silent. Ive checked all the settings but cant find anything related to this. Reboot does not help. If anyone else has this problem, or has fixed it please let me know.
Everyone who is running on cm9 has that. It's a bug they even list it it's called the ring of death. To fix it flash a different rom for now

i thought the ring of death was what you heard in the headset during a call, not the ring
The ring of death is several things. It's all the same type of ring during different situations.

The newest update on the issues page seems to have taken care of the issue. Havent had that many incoming phone calls, but on the ones Ive had it didnt ring.

Anyone else experience no ring when im calling and no ring from the other person's phone when calling me either lol. Its odd and i havent seen anyone else mention it. Everything else seems to work for the most part. It does show the call comming in on my phone and i can asnwer but i cant hear people either, nor can they hear me.
What build?
Have you tried flipping the speakerphone on/off after answering?
No ring? Dunno. Make sure it's set to vibrate always - I can't remember which builds exhibit that bug.
i am running xdandroid froyo 2.2 frx07 in my tp2.
just wondering did anyone experience the condition as what i meet.
i use the phone of my friend right beside me to make call to myself. i can listen from his phone the tone of calling... however my own phone did not ring and nothing was happened for about 20 seconds; after that then only my phone start ringing (some time a missed call alert came out).....
the same thing happen when i make call, my phone doesn't have tone of calling; but my friend's phone already ringing....
did anyone have the same problem? how to solve it?
appreciate for the sharing.....
thanks
garf
I observed the same issue with incoming calls, but never noticed it for outgoing calls. I know when a call is about to come in, because my phone will just go black first, then I hear the ringtone about 3 seconds after, then the screen appears after 3-5 seconds so I get to pick up the call.

Ditto. Incoming calls are difficult at best to answer, but outgoing is no problem whatsoever.
I am experiencing the same behavior, i gussed it is performance issue with the phone app, but this is exeteremly annoying, however, wont stop me from using this rom as my main phone. Wish there was a fix though

I had incoming call lag in winmo, wouldn't ring until the other person had heard like 3 rings. To be honest, I haven't really checked the delay since switching to xdandroid.
FWIW, I reduced the delay back in winmo days by lowering the slot cycle index. No idea if that change would carry over into android or not. Or even if the change is still intact for me since I've installed a vzw update since I did that. Don't care much lately either, some calls I prefer to miss
Had some issues with the touch tones not working correctly with the speakerphone enabled. Didn't find any threads here on XDA but found a few over on a couple other android forums.
Basically it seems that when using the touch tones with speakerphone enabled, the mic picks up the speaker phone and the receiving end hears each touch tone twice.
I had the issue when trying to call verizon wireless to enter my passcode, as well as trying to setup my voice mail. I have 3 separate Galaxy Nexus phones in my family, and the issue can be replicated on all 3 phones.
Also noticed lowering the volume on the speakerphone can alleviate the issue too, but it's just kind of annoying as I don't want to hold the phone up next to my ear when I'm trying to enter things on the dial pad.
I've also tried switching the DTMF setting between long and normal, the problem still exists
Hoping with a firmware update they can filter out the touch tone, or just not make the touch tones audible to ourselves. (I'm assuming
this is because the speaker is so close to the mic on the GN)
Anyway, I don't think there's a fix for it yet, but I'm just posting here to see if anyone else is experiencing the same issue, and to make people aware of it.
Also found the issue on google support here:

Bump,
Anyone else run into the same issue? Or have some secret fix I don't know about? (Other than turning off the speaker lol)

This explains the problems I was having the other day trying to join a Go-To-Meeting - would not accept my pin.
I was on speaker phone too - ty for this !
I've had this problem on the GN and other devices as well. Sometimes I'll hit mute because it helps but also I don't want people/computer listening in.

Just realized this before I came to post, thanks for pointing it out too! Mute FTW!!!
i too noticed this as well when i first got it and think that it ridiculous that it wasnt thought out better.
Another fix: Simply turn off audible touch tones in the settings menu.
Drawback is there's no feedback for the dialpad, anyone know of a way to get the vibrate on for the dialpad?

This is the workaround I've been using for about a month now with no issues. I had the same issue where the conference call service wasn't getting my pass code entered correctly.
Only issue now is the headset echo heard by connected parties, which has been reported and hope to be fixed soon. I've tried several workarounds here but none have been bulletproof.
Problem: Instead of playing the selected ringtone when I get phone calls I hear the bonk sound hear when I adjust my volume? This remains even after reboot.
Solution: It was an application called CallBlocker. I had enabled a setting called Pre-Mute Ring which was causing the issue.
Call controll does work very well, however this feature does have a caveat indicating it might not work correctly on all phones. I think the purpose is to mute the ring until it can identify if the call is on the blacklist or not. After that, I think it's supposed to unmute so you can hear the ring.
I finally figured it out after numerous reboots and a kernel upgrade. The problem remained so I figured it had to be some piece of software that messed with the call settings.

Hi,
I have a strange problem and I really don't know how to solve it.
The problem is related to the sound when ringing.
If I set the "sound and vibrate" checkbox in Sounds, then the phone rings and vibrate a little and then stop the sound.
The screen still show the incoming call and the caller still hear that the phone is ringing.
The ring sound sometimes stop immediately after it's starting, sometimes ring 1, 2, 3 ... times.
BUT, if I unchecked the "sound and vibrate", the phone ring normally, as long as the caller keep the call open.
Does anyone met the same strange behavior?
The ROM is stock 4.1.1 XXALIJ, rooted with CF-auto-root.
At this moment I don't have any sound manager / profile manager installed.
I tried also to clear cache from recovery, but nothing.
What could be the cause?
What can I try to make it acting as it should?
Regards,
Stefan
I hope it is not affected by any motion settings, i.e you are covering the screen with your palm or turn it over?
If you are asking if I'm covering the phone with my hand, or if I'm turning it WHEN it's ringing, the answer is NO
But if you are asking if I have these options checked in settings, the answer is YES. I have them checked.
