Have you turned on USB debugging on your phone?
Yeah tried everything I could find anywhere but everyone just says same troubleshooting, don't know if its worth mentioning that HTC sync won't even find my phone

have you set it to charge only? and you have made sure u have correct htc drivers? if you are using wildfire S, these are different to standard wildfire drivers
Nono normal wildfire HTC buzz everyone points to the unrevoked hacked usb drivers and they did nowt, and yeah charge only

have you tried a different PC or different cable? I remember before i tooted my phone, my HTC usb cable would charge my phone when connected to PC but would recognise it as a removable device, until i bought a shaver with the same usb lead - when i connected the phone using this 'unofficial' lead, it worked....also, the HTC lead now works on my new PC but still doesnt work on my old PC
can u elobrate your problem with revolutionary
can u elaborate your problem with revolutionary,& plz do provide details of your phone like hboot ver software ver in your next post & is your wildfire gsm or cdma
..or try these driver in the attachment by manually selecting the drivers while installiing(i personally used these drivers when i rooted my phone with revlotionary...)

No need for 2 topics.
For froyo flash custom roms that state they have froyo. Instructions included in their respective topics. Also, less begging, more googling.

1. you don't need htc sync, well not me anyway. i just installed the hboot drivers, plugged phone via usb with debugging mode on (and boot into bootloader - it should say hboot usb plugin) and ran the unrevoked reflash tool and let it run.
2. copy the rom you wanna flash onto sd card.
3. boot into bootloader again (hold trackpad and press power button)
4. select bootloader -> select recovery -> install zip from sd card -> pick the rom you wanna flash.
5. reboot.
6. done.
are you not getting the Over The air prompt?
the easy way is that you update your phone with wi fi in phone menu/settings

Only when the Wildfire is unbranded... when it´s provider-branded you have to wait till the provider releases Froyo....
The fastest way is the one that kevin2516 posted.

Going to try now. Thanks for advice
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
still no good.
i have also tried the froyo ruu but it also says usb error. i can read and write to my sd in the phone fine and htc sync works also.
1. Try 2.29.405.5 on another computer.
I saw this error on my old desktop, maybe it related to old USB1 controller.
Then I changed PC to another and it was ok.
2. Create goldcard, in case if 2.29.405.5 will display error 131 (CID error) and retry 2.29.405.5
NOTES:
I did it successfully,
I run file RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe
Please let me know if this helped you.

Hello,
First, if its a very noobish question, sorry! I want to root my wildfire. I have read a lot of forums/threads but have some struggles.
My phone have been 2 times to HTC because it rebooted from itself. In the shop they said: The software behind the software is updated.
In bootloader? (power on and volume down) i get these information:
Buzz PVT SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-1.01.0001
There doesn't stand anywhere Locked or Unlocked in purple. The only thing is S-On
Now i start with rooting i get some troubles like i first said.
I installed htc sync and deleted it. and used Revolutionary : <waiting for device>
Then another thread gives htc drivers so i used them in device manager.
It goes well, beta key accepted and all. -> Rooting then comes the following message: Communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted. ( i use the original usb charger cable)
Yet i look on other threads they say, try again and i will work. I tried everything, New drivers, As Admin, Without sd card, with sd card, without sim, with sim. And so on.
Because i own an mac too i tried it on my mac with unrevoked3. Without any good results.
is there anyone who can help me, or know a solution.
i have read somewhere you don't necessarily need s-off is this true?
I would like to install this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958275
Thanks in advance, Sorry for my ****ty englisch but its not my native language
THANKS !

What kind of usb port are you using? Is your on a big pc use one of the ports on the back and not the front, also make sure it's a usb2 port and not a usb 3
Port. Also make sure to uninstall any programs that interfere or use adb. Lastly if all the above is correct then simply use a different port, or at a push a different pc. May be easier than trying to work out what the conflict is. Keep at it with revolutionary though

Glad your sorted pal
Can anyone help please
I have a HTC Desire Z purchased originally in Lithuania, the previous owners have somehow SLCD Bricked the phone. The phone is in excellent condition and I would love to save it. I have read threads that suggest that I have to make a Gold Card form the country of origin and make of the phone, being in the UK this is not an option for me.
Does anyone know how I can save this phone please ( and if possible giving instructions understanding that I am unable to see the screen), I have access to a computer and have Android SDK (and Fastboot installed), I also have the HTC driver installed on my computer, but neither the Adb Devices nor Fastbook list the devices when connected to the computer.
Many thanks in advance for those who have read this and can give advice
I have no idea what an SLCD brick is so maybe you can elaborate a bit

Thank you for your response, from what I understand an SLCD bricked phone is one that someone has tried to upgrade to another version of Android system which is not compatible with a SLCD Screen but for an AMOLED one http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/226723-unbricking-slcd-bricked-desire-howto.html one and there for the phone will not switch the screen on, the phone in general works (receives phone signal and rings).
The only way to restore the phone is to create a Goldcard from the country of origin (and same make) as I am unable to create a gold card from the phone as SDK or Fastboot (from the computer) do not list device, and I am unable to switch the phone into debugging mode as cannot see screen to operate menu system.
Basically I need to create a Goldcard somehow for the country of origin (Lithuania) and find a HTC__032 ruu compatible for the HTC Desire Z.
Again many thanks for helping
Oh got ya, but unfortunately I don't believe there is any amoled firmware options for the desire z so if incompatible firmware was flashed you would have just a regular brick. But if everything on your phone is working besides the screen I would assume its a hardware fault and you are looking for a new LCD or main flex cable to repair it. But if you want to look for stock firmware in the above link there is another link on returning to stock where nipqer has uploaded some stock options. As you said these may not work in fastboot mode without a goldcard but feel free to try, phone does not need to have debugging on to be recognized by computer in fastboot, you just need the drivers

I found a thread about SLCD bricking of the original Desire: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748498
It may have some helpful instructions (which you seem to have already figured out re: GoldCard and an OTA update), but the files aren't appropriate for the Desire Z
Thank you

Sorry for the delay in responding to you (now having computer issues, many thanks for your responses I am sure that somewhere there has to be an answer as it would be such a shame to throw away such a good phone.
Thanks again
Have you replaced the LCD or main flex yet?

It's either an issue with your drivers, or you are trying to use a USB 3 port. USB 3 has a new driver stack that doesn't work well with ADB.
If it is a driver issue, install HTC Sync Manager, use that to install the drivers, then uninstall HTC Sync. Everything should work fine after that.
