This stupid Pop up circumvents the lock screen. Why would Sammy steal this from the iPhone it does not even work right and very annoying. I would much rather go into settings then deal with this stupid thing randomly popping up

just curious but if you go into settings and wifi settings and uncheck "New network notifications" does it still pop up?
I believe it pops up when you first turn on your wifi and there are networks around. After that it doesn't pop up. The network notification is to notify you of open networks - for those that run around with their wifi constantly on.

Yeah I think that stops it but then you don't get the icon in the notification bar either. I like being notified when a new network is available but not by the obtrusive iPhone Pop up. The icon is more then enough.
Anyone know what I need to do to get rid of it? Like is their an xml that can be edited or modded?

Yes I usually don't turn my wifi off as I go in and out of wifi range allot going from home to work to down town in my city where their is city run open wifi network. Every time you leave the range of all wifi networks then come back into range it pops up and will circumvent the lock screen right in your pocket

The good news is I'm 100% positive there's a way to disable it, probably somewhere in the framework.apk or .jar
The bad news is that's beyond what I know how to do yet and honestly I wouldn't know where to look. I just know it's most likely inside the framework packages.
Hopefully a dev or someone with more expertise can do it or point you in the right direction. What ROM are you running? If it's a custom ROM you might have better luck asking this question in that devs thread.

Go into wifi settings click the 3 dots for settings and select advanced then check Network Notification
Not sure if im missing a setting somewhere but my WiFi toggles itself back on randomly after i turn it off. I checked all the wifi settings under ADVANCED and everything looks like its in the correct setting...
Network Notification / unchecked
Keep WiFi on during sleep / (Tried both ALWAYS and NEVER)
Check for internet service / Unchecked
WiFi Timer / OFF
I am using Blazer ROM since I got the phone. Anyone having the same problem? It would be no big deal if the wifi radio didn't consume as much battery.
Not sure if Blazer rom has the option or not or if it would affect it turning back on, but is the Connections optimizer feature enabled?
Its under More Settings > Mobile networks > Connections optimizer

Sweet, I think that was it. I turned my fonts to 'TINY' and only read about 1/4 of the fine print. If it turns on again, ill just need to go out but buy some sage to rid my house of evil wifi spirits!
Thanks...
if i uncheck connection optimizer will it never looks for even lte?
I'm guessing "preferred network mode" will select the LTE preference or not. Connections optimizer only refers to WiFi in the help text.

I'm pretty sure hausman is right on that, but I'll try it out later today when I go into an lte area and report back with my findings.

After a bit of testing in different 4g spots I can say that the optimizer does not effect 4g at all. And it does indeed only refer to the wifi.

Same here on stock rom.. even before I rooted

Connections optimizer was rolled out to "ensure phones haves the best possible connection without affecting battery life" On older WiMax phones it also does affect 4G. It uses location data and saved WiFi IDs to know when to connect. Sprint likes it because it offloads data onto wifi/4G whenever possible.

Ah ok good to know. Though I should of probably rephrased my post since it was a reply to gotojanoo to let him know that it does not stop the phone from searching for a lte connection.
Has anyone else been seeing near constant Roaming Notifications? The little triangle up int the notification bar.
I have unchecked everything in Roaming Guard and I am still getting the notifications. Is there some other setting to turn off these notifications?
I'd like to know how to stop these as well. Tho, mine wont let me uncheck the ones under GSM roaming. I thought I glimpsed somewhere that the way to turn that off was to remove a particular apk file and folder in the systems folder... but I can't find it again.
Mine remain checked as well, though they remain grey so I am not concerned with them. The only way I have been able to eliminate the messages is to change Settings>More Settings>Roaming>Roaming Network
Change to "Home Only". This is my workaround, but I dont think its the answer as I believe it eliminates additional roaming networks.
I get them all the time too and they're annoying. I ignore them. Now it's like the Boy who cried Wolf.
I turned my setting to sprint only instead of automatic roaming and I don't get the notification anymore but I will probably not be able to roam when out of sprint service area as well

I get them to and have changed the setting and they always revert back to the original. Getting very angry. How is this stopped?
Has anyone been able to resolve this?? its freaking annoying! the dang thing wont stay off!
Anyone ever find a way to delete the dang notification? Just really annoying... If someone can give me a starting point, I could try diving in, but I have no idea where to start.
Have any of you guys tried turned off the sprint connection optimizer? I've read somewhere that it stops these notifications.

I never thought that might be what keeps the network data notification going, you might be right. I had the Sprint optimizer disabled but when I went into mange apps it showed it disabled but there was a little box checked for notifications. So, for good measure I uninstalled the app completely. I'll report back with the results in a while... I hope that eliminates that annoying crap! Thank you!
UPDATE: arrrrrrrRrrggghhhh ! Still popping up.... thanks anyway. There has got to be some line of code to remove, I just wish I knew how to find the offender.
I have these roaming notifications also. Just ignored them. I'll see if I can stop them and report back.

They cant be that much different...
Did anyone ever figure this out?
I'm having a problem trying to disable the Roam Guard settings. The Roaming network is set to Automatic, but I cannot un-check the Voice and Data (actually it prompted me when roaming and had a little check box to not show again for Data, but Voice is still selected and doesn't give the little check box to not show again) roaming guards for Domestic Data or International Data with exception to "Outgoing SMS" in International. I am stumped. Had them unchecked before, but had to change the Roaming network to "Home Only" because my phone was having trouble connecting to an Airave. I immediately switched it back to Automatic once it connected, and now I cannot disable the Roam Guard
Any ideas? Screen Shot attached.
1. ##SCRTN#
2. Reboot
3. Hands Free Activate
4. Reboot
5. Update Profile/PRL
Roam Guard boxes should be restored / not grayed out.
Data Roaming Notifications Fix

I'm using stock rooted AT&T Jellybean and, every time my wifi loses signal (like when I leave my home for example), a list of available wifi networks pops up. Going to Advanced Wifi Settings and disabling Network Notification has no impact on this, so I'm guessing it's some idiocy put in there by AT&T. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? It's really infuriating because the popup blocks the entire screen every single time I lose wifi signal. Thanks.

We provided some answers on what to turn off and what makes it show up. There may be no way to fully keep it off as I have concluded that it may or may not be the phones radio doing updates in intervals. I rarely see it pop up now after that discussion.

That does nothing. It is still going to come on randomly. If you have location on it will show up. I've also noticed it blinks on and off when using Hangouts to send a text. This is all happening with WiFi on.

Of course it blinks on and off because txts don't go through WiFi. Txts and calls and GPS information(I think) go through the provider network, which is why it shows up when you text/calls/gps. For the times it doesn't need the provider network, only WiFi icon will shop up.

Uh... I already know that but provide the info in case someone doesn't know that. There are people that assume everything goes through WiFi with 4G off. So by me saying that it blinks on and off is an indication to them that 4G is being used because it's a text.
We are basically providing info letting others know why 4G comes on if they have WiFi on already.
Like the OP stated in the post title, the 4g icon stays on, and not just comes off & on. In my case, it'll stay on for about 20+ minutes, and this is with the smart connect unchecked and while doing abosolutely nothing. No reading, no texting or email, GPS turned off.
Ive tried all the suggested answers, and the only solution that works for me is to turn off the network.

Correct. Mine has been for the last couple of hours doing nothing. Only thing that would fix it is a reboot.
