This is in the general android xda apps forum, but just in case you're not a frequent peruser of that forum, there's currently an easy way to exploit a free 50gb Box account for root users. Only thing that sucks is that you can't upload files bigger than 100mb at a time, which I know is a dealbreaker for many, especially ROM devs, but its still good to have and is a lot of space, especially for the inviting price of NOTHING. check it out here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383808.
followed the directions, worked like a charm. just remember to replace your backed up build.prop after you do it. and i also found that once you exploit it, you can open up as many accounts as you want from the Box app if you just keep logging out and registering with a different email, which is nice. I made 4 accounts. call me greedy.
Cool, should come in very handy!
Thanks!

It worked. It took about 2 minutes from downloading the prop editor to restoring my original prop, start to finish. Easy as pie. Thanks for sharing.
Would definitely use this instead of Dropbox if it'd let me upload more at a time, no way around it tho huh?
I use FolderSync for all my cloud storage services. It replaces all other cloud apps (including FTP), and it's as invaluable to me as Titanium Backup. Check it out.
CX.com 10gb Free Online Storage w/ App
the upload size limits with Box.com ruined it for me also when i realized how many files i need to backup that are too large. It's still really good for backing up mp3's though.
BUT, I came across CX.com, which gives you 10gb of free storage and has ZERO size limits. Also has an Android App. Same functionality as dropbox, but 5x the free space. can't beat it.

EDIT:
Also check out the app Minus and Minus.com. Also free 10gb!! haven't tried it out yet though, but just made an account and it sounds pretty promising.
For anyone that hasn't been able to get in on the 50GB giveaways from Box.net, they are now offering anyone who downloads their Android app and signs up in the next month 50GBs of cloud storage.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/02/23/box-for-android-receives-update-offers-all-android-users-50gb-of-free-cloud-storage/
The only drawback is that uploads are limited to 100MB.

Thanks Brian, it worked.
Worked for me. Thanks!
Worked for me as well! 50gb lifetime on my account
Good looking out, thanks!
Nice find... thank you!
just got mine too, now what to do with all this space, can i backup my entire phone to it somehow?
Thank you very much for the info, I will take an extra 50 GB any time +1
very nice!!!
Good looking out!
The 100MB file size limit is very disappointing and I hope they change it in the near future. What's stunning is that the earlier version of this promotion, with the HP TouchPad for example, 50GB accounts also came with a 1GB file size limit. I can confirm this because I have since commandeered my friend's account with those limits.
There was also a way to to get 50GB under the LG Android promotion (we just edited build.prop, which is what the box.net app checked), but that too came with the 100MB limit.
It's great to have 50GB lifetime storage for free, but I really wish they upped the limit to >300MB. I find myself using my Dropbox (24GB storage, 300MB limit via mobile, unlimited file size via desktop). Write to BOX and ask for bigger limit, or post in their forums!
Sweet i'll take 50, thank you
Phonearena pointed me in that direction but still got it. Good lookn out

Too bad they want you to pay to use their file sync program. Guess I'll be sticking with dropbox. Thanks for the link though.

Yes, I appreciate 50GB free storage, but without sync it is pretty useless. The point for me of having cloud storage is to backup my computer and have access to all my files in the cloud from my portable devices and to keep the files in sync from all these devices. I certainly don't need 50GB of storage to upload a few files from my phone. So will keep using dropbox, until I can figure away to sync.
Hate to sound ungrateful, it just is not that useful at this point.
1) I installed Dropbox and I was expecting 50Gb but only got 2Gb. Is there a way to get the remaining storage?
2) It seems very slow. Is that normal?
3) Can you access it through a rooted file manager like root explorer?
Thanks.

When I did it they had me complete 5 steps of 7 listed in order to get the 50Gbs. Steps included taking a tutorial, referring a friend, etc. Took me about 5 mins to complete.
All I had to do was to log into my dropbox with my new GS3 and I received the bonus space.
Invite more people to increase the space on dropbox.
I had a dropbox account prior to my SGS3 purchase. I've logged into my dropbox account with my S3 but don't see a way to get the free 50gb.
Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong?
Thanks for any help

I did not do anything special. I did not even know about the bonus until it happened. I simply used the dropbox app on my phone to connect to my existing dropbox account. Shortly after that I received an email telling me about the bonus.
Got it to work but later found the e-mail. I had to install dropbox onto a second computer to qualify.
Don't forget folks that the S3 bonus space is only temporary. Just wanted to remind you guys of that. So if you intend to keep dropbox for all your cloud storing needs be aware it is only for about a year or two. After that I believe you would have to become a paying customer or loose the bonus storage. The S3 bonus storage is like forty something gigs from what I can remember. Sorry I don't have the specifics but you can check from your account online and see how much it is and when it expires.
An alternative if you need storage for your pics and vids is photobucket. It automatically uploads pics and vids, dropbox only does pics as of now, and you get unlimited storage with no expiration.
The bonus is for two years. I figure that by then I will either be buying s new phone (and hoping a similar deal is on) our that there are other options.

Gotta figure by that time cloud storage will be dirt cheap
Hello
I just had an idea and would like to share with anyone who had knowledge that could enhance this idea .
Exist today in Mercardo numerous companies that offer free space in the cloud for our files , however each of these companies has its own software to access files .
Do you think it would be possible that someone or some company was interested in creating a software that could connect and manage multiple accounts of cloud at the same time?
So we could open a free account for cloud service , then this program could join all the free spaces provided in one large space STORAGE .
What do you think of the idea ? it would make my life easy !
Dropbox - 2GB Free
Skydrive - 2GB Free
spideroak.com - 2GB Free
Asus WebStorage - 5GB free
Amazon Cloud Drive - 5GB free
Box - 10GB free
meocloud.pt - 16GB free
GoogleDrive - 15GB free
adrive.com - 50GB free
mega.co.nz - 50GB free
abelhas.pt - Unlimited *
Well , this is my idea hopefully someone can use and develop something to make life easier for everyone!
FTFY, SkyDrive offers 7 GB of free storage.
I've been working on this for about a week now.
I've gotten Box and Dropbox working so far. It also selects which service to upload the file to based on file size and space available. I'll keep you posted.
What would REALLY make (business) sense of such a project would be making a RESTful API developers could use.
For example, I could be writing a web application that works with user files. One option would be the user to choose and upload a file from their current client machine. An alternative would be browsing all of their cloud storage accounts and choosing a file source from there.
Keep it up, it could become something
Looks like it's been done.

Haha... The NSA is the least of our worries on the privacy front. Besides, I feel bad for the guy that has to sift through all of my internet history and files stored on my cloud accounts. He must be terribly bored.
Chinese services offer tons of capacity for free, for example 360 yunpan gives you 36 TERAbytes, and it's possible to increase this. The problem is that everything is written in Chinese
Also have on tencent site english language. I have 10TB free
Hi Guys,
I was forced to move to a different online storage service due to Sugarsync going paid-only. Copy by Barracuda is a great service, and the best thing about it, it lets you migrate all your data from any online storage service, directly, not wasting you downloads or uploads.
"Copy" has a great Android App

To get the full 20GB, click on this link , which gives you the 15GB free plus 5GB bonus storage.
