I hope some clever, kind soul can help me here. I just tried to backup my current rom using rom manager and now my phone can't mount my sd card or read my sim. I think it may have something to do with amonra recovery which I thought I'd failed to install but now appears when I go into recovery. Even when I mount a different sd card the phone can't read it. I think I'm well out of my depth here but am crossing everything hoping for assistance.
Okay I've read and read and read for the last 3 hours and I'm still totally clueless. The phone won't connect to pc either. Any help would be appreciated. Time for 3 hours sleep now
Classic USB Brick. Don't worry, try this: http://android.modaco.com/content/h...com/309939/usb-brick-rickrolled-b0rked-fixed/
Thanks but I'm confused. My hboot is 0.93 and when I follow the next link it seems to suggest I need to downgrade hboot. Is this right or am I being really stupid?
Or is it this I should be following:
2. Enable the SD Card functionality. Boot your phone in FASTBOOT mode (back + power), and enter this command: 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' . This will re-enable your SD card.
If so, I don't understand how to enter any command here. There is no option to enter anything. Once again any replies would be very welcome
You have to install Android SDK in order to issue those commands. http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Okay thanks for your patience. I'll do that next. Don't leave me

That's windows for you. You do have a 32 bit system, right ? Try rebooting your PC. You have installed it in the default location c:\Program Files\blabla..
Yes it's a 32 bit system and I installed to default location. I've checked java update too and have the latest version. I rebooted but to no avail. I don't think my mum can help with this one....

Try uninstalling SDK and Java, reinstall Java and after that SDK.
will do. As an interesting sidenote my phone won't charge from mains only via usb connection and even that's sporadic
Still the same unfortunately. How frustrating!

Try running it as "administrator".
You can use the ZIP version , unzip it , then dowload the tools using the manager , or download only the tools package
little trick :
If you want to use the installer anyway , hit the "back" button when you get the java error , then next again . The error should vanish. worked for me

Oh wow I think something is happening
It seems to be downloading a whole bunch SDK platforms quite slowly. Does that sound right? Thanks again btw
well... no...
You just need the tools , not the whole developpement platform.
Just select the SDK tool in the package window

Your link works perfect
Setup is not compatible with 64 bit win 7 ultimate
But all you need to do is:
0. Extract the Zip file to any folder
1. Goto Device manager
2. Right click the s1bootdownload icon (which will have an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle)
3. Click update driver
4. Use manual install from computer option
5. select the folder where you extracted the zip file
6. Hit ok
7. Works like charm

The best version is the one provided as part of flashtool
(Then you don't need the -i 0xfce each time you execute fastboot)

I've made a fully compatible 64 bit package.
It's the same package as "USBFlash_driver" but than with 64 bit compatibility
*should also work on WIN8 couldn't test it tho, let me hear! otherwise ill make it compatible

Hi everybody
I would like to unlock the bootloader of my ARC S , 4.0.2.A.0.42, sim unlock factory and with a generic fw.
I used the tuto of sony ericsson , asking me to replace a file in C:/AndroidSDK/extras/google/usb_drivers , something like that.
So i replaced the file. Pressed menu button and plugged the phone.
I have the choice to select the driver, indicate the folder and it begins to install and suddenly stop each time, saying me :
"Windows met a problem during the installation of the driver for your device"
Windows has found a driver for your device, but met a problem trying to install it"
Android ADB Interface
Specified file is unfound

I have the fastboot.exe file, adb.exe and all the others files in my sdk..
Please help me to solve this problem
Thx!!
Not sure what drivers you found, but the ones from this thread worked fine for me.
Just extract the zip somewhere and when prompted for a driver location, point it to that folder, don't complicate things by messing around with file swaps in the Android SDK folder.
Also, that guide is pretty much all you need, to get your bootloader unlocked.
hi
Thx a lot for your answer
I tryed another folder found on google yesterday and it works.
Files seems to be the same than yours so if i havent found yet and used these ones, it should have worked too.
Thk you, and have a good day.
Fabulous
HELLO.. can i ask for the link of where you downloaded the android_winusb.inf ?THanks
So, after running MIUI for 3 months, i decided to try something else.
I got Acromion rom, and put it on my SD card.
I were running Jacobsein's kernel.
So, i installed it and rebooted. Waited for 2 hours, and it hasnt progressed.
Tried wiping, reinstalling, and such.
So i went and wanted to put it in fastboot so i could try with another kernel.
But my PC doesnt regonize it anymore.
So, what do i do:/?
THANKS!
Try another USB port on your PC.
Fastboot should not be affected.

Yes, it shows up as ADB interface in devicemaneger, but fastboot still doesnt work, fastboot devices shows nothing:/
You can download fastboot via android sdk (it's located in platform-tools in android-sdk directory).
In SDK manager install Tools->Android SDK Platform-tools and Extras->Google USB Driver Package.
Replace the android_winusb.inf file located in Extras\Google\usb_driver in android sdk directory with the one provided by SE (http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions)
If you have a 64 bit OS, this file won't work, use the one I attached to this post :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22361703&postcount=269
Use this inf to install driver

You can get Android SDK Tools here:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
or also can download at : (for Mac & Linux also)
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Howto:_Install_the_Android_SDK
Download and install in a folder like c:\Android
You may also need Java Run time and get it from here:
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
Hope this may be useful. (If really just press 'Thanks').
It is available in, >Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
Not in Android\android-sdk\tools
As written in many tutorials. This is the main confusion that bring me to this thread. finally i found it myself
