Hi there! I was reading something on xda forum and i found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1493325, an apk that check the usb host capabilities of our device and send the results to an online database. I tried it on my defy, but unfortunately i haven't got a usb otg cable (that is a micro-usb to usb adapter with host capabilities if someone didn't know it). So, my results was been very similar to that of the droid bionic that you can found there http://usbhost.chainfire.eu/ (the second cdma_targa in the list) that support usb host (with root): in particular, on "android API" i have claim support = no, classes found = no, device detected = N/A; on "rooted API" i have claim support = yes, device detected = no; on "kernel" i have claims support = yes, device detected = no; finally, i have 2 no on verdict. As i said, i haven't a usb otg cable, so i tested the device without any usb host device connected. So this is my doubt: i don't know if the "device detected = no" i have on rooted API and kernel is due to the lack of the usb host capabilities or to the lack of a connected device. So, what i'm asking is if someone that own a usb otg cable could try to test his defy and post the results. Thank you very much!
ps: i'm running cm7.1.0-11 by quarx, oh and sorry for my bad english, i hope you understood me
Defy is capable... but kernel lacks the modules...
Quarx compiled some modules...
I'm gonna pick up otg cable and make my own changes...

Great! I didn't know it! And how could i integrate the modules quarx wrote into my kernel? Anyway, sorry viper, i hadn't find that topic
Edit: but, if i got "claims support = yes" on "kernel", should it imply that i already have those modules, shouldn't it? I was thinking that i have a quarx's kernel (cm7) so maybe the modules are already included.

oke a couple of questions, sins im getting the GN this Saturday.
i know that USB OTG is disabled by default unless you get a kernel that turns on the option.
but is the USB OTG also working with USB flash drives and external HHD's(when unlocked/turned on) if so, whats the best kernel/mod i should use. and i dont care if i need to command mount it in the terminal app.
second question,
there was a report on ICS that ICS will have build in screenshot buton combo or some sort.
is it really there? does it work by default,or is it yet another kenrel option?
and does any one have an example screenshot?
nobody?isnt there anyone that can answer it

USB OTG will be enabled with an update, this has been confirmed on g+ by a googler. In the meantime I use the latest MCR rom from modaco.com and USB OTG works fine

This is probably less about USB OTG host mode as a feature and more about how ICS handles auto-mounting storage attached to it hence the "host mode experience" isn't 100% yet, even though host mode and HID work fine with the right kernel.
I Have:
Cyanogenmod 7.1 rom
Kernel: 2.6.37 cyanogen 7.x Kernel Patched with USB Host (from here)
Desire GSM phone
OTG cable
USB Y cable (to male and one female) - picture in attachment
And two problems!
The FIRST problem
This kernel enable host mode, when load command in terminal.
I typed command but, I have error:

}
I searching dev/bock but there is no sda1 or sdxx..
The SECOND problem
Maybe I have problem with power supply?
I tried to attach in computer port, usb flash drive lighting and copmuter recognize and open..
And I tried to attach to usb charger and nothing happen. Flash doesn't light...
Any help please!
This looks to me as if you connected the cable wrong... usually the male connector with the two cables coming out is the one for data and the other one is the one for the power.
Try connecting your USB to Micro USB cable to the other male connector...
To be sure the cable is working correctly, try connecting the drive via your y-cable to a computer. That way it's easier to find out wether you are using the correct plugs. Also in this case, don't plug in the second male cable, b/c the computer USB port should already give you enough power.
Finaly works!
Yes, you were right. I reverse usb male connection devices.
I loaded kernels again, but there is no sda in block folder.
So I used USB host controller app, and mount usb from here and works.
Picture in attachment.
But I don't know where is the path to my sda?
On this picture says sda4?
I tried this
HTML:
mount -t vfat /dev/block/sda4 /mnt/sdcard/mnt/
but have same error - no such file or directory
Ok, the first question sloved (almost)
Another question:
Where I can get power supply, maybe usb battery to give a power to flash drive?
I don't want a adapter or charger, I need portable usb power battery for traveling.
Anybody have idea where I get this?
Hi,
I have StickMount app to mount USB drives to my flo.
But I have WD Elements 2,5" 1TB USB 3 NTFS disk. When I connect it, it just flashes but is not mounted.
Can someone tell me how can I mount it?
If I need to use other kernel, then please point me to some good
But I need kernel with kexec-hardboot patch for MultiRom.
Thank you.

Are you using a powered USB hub? The Nexus probably doesn't put out enough juice to power a hard drive.

It is possible...
I use only ordinary OTG cable...
So I will try to search some powered OTG cable...
Thank you again @meekrawb

poor nexus 7 cannot provide that amount of juice for ext HDs
I have the same HDD and it works fine. I installed the ElementalX kernel, which provides NTFS support, and used Paragon NTFS to mount the HDD (available on the play store). I have a different problem myself: As soon as the device is locked, whatever is being streamed/accessed from the HDD is no longer accessible and the HDD has to be disconnected, reconnected and remounted.
My computer doesn't at all acknowledge my S3 when I plug it in to a USB port. I have used different cables, Don't have access to other computers to attempt, and it doesn't show my nexus 7 2013 either. It is getting quite irritating, as my SD card won't mount either. It used to work flawlessly but now I have no luck whatsoever. It doesn't even have a hint of existence in Device Manager. It doesn't charge from my laptop either.
I am running CarbonROM with BMS Kernel, have researched, and found no potential fixes that have worked for me. I am open to almost everything, even a full return to stock with Odin. Any help will be very much appreciated.
EDIT: Please PM me or quote me so that I immediately know when someone responds.
Thanks

Ok? Noob question, do the drivers deal with the hardware or software of my phone? If it is the software, it wouldn't work would it? Thanks.
Technically the only hardware is the port on the phone. If that's not working then it never will. Considering that it charges I would go to a TouchWiz ROM and see if the problem is your ROM.

Hey everyone I hope I am on the right spot. Here is a precompiled Kernel for use with kali NETHUNTER wlan1. It works with CM-14.1 64bit kernel flash the zip and all set to go. Also download the 64bit kernel for KALI NETHUNTER and flash that too.
https://github.com/Keskebeu/LGK20plus_Pentest_Hack
I am also planning on building for rtl8812au device tree so that's on the way for stock Android.
Hey man I flashed that kernel; on top of AICP ...played around all day got Viper4 going right and other mod stuff I like to do...basically I set this best nuget ROM that I have ever messed with.....loaded up the full Google library out of my play-store and all the other root apps Ive collected up.....Then I downloaded that Arch64 GSI for nethunter and i got the FULL choot
....and yes its official......and even sweeter with all that storage space off this device i didnt realize it had over 16 internel....blazing fast too.....this also tells me that I can probably get Android 9 and 10 GSI and run off this device....... SCREENIES
@Travisholt92,.....Hey bro you did some great work that Im just now finding...I just got nethunter working with a GSI Arc64 build off there website and the kernel from the OP.....Im gonna try 9 and !0 in a bit
Cool!! Thanks I want to try it out?

Hey thanks for this kernel man... Right now I'm running lineage is 14.1 64 bit with 64 bit pitch black recovery and a custom kernel I believe made by Travis Holt... I talked with him a little bit about the otg charging not working and it has to be implemented into the kernel... Does this kernel support otg charging as well as being able use my TP-LINK WiFi adaptor? And do you think it will work with my setup?

Ok cool... it works with my custom kernel I have now aswell. The thing I was wondering is if you had implimemented usb otg charging in the kernel so I can use my y cable or usb hub to charge and use the wifi adapter at the same time? I talked to the developer of the kernel I'm using and he said it needs to be set in the kernel... my usb hub is powered aswell and still cant get it to charge and to other otg things only one thing at at time. Its to bad we cant get this phone to fast charge that's my issue is battery life and charging up time.
