Nexus CRAZY BATTERY? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I just flashed my GSM galaxy nexus to aokp build 22 and mated it with franco kernal 16.2. NOT using any extended battery.
im not sure if this is good or not. but 10 plus hours of battery and 3 and a half hours of screen time. near the end all the way to two percent i was tangoling with my girlfriend for an hour or so. CRAZY BATTERY LIFE ANYONE?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

Yeah I am getting crazy good battery life too...Almost 22 hours off charger, 2 hours of screen time, and almost 50% of my battery remaining. This device is a beast, the battery is awesome.

Are you both using the same rom? Can this be the same with stock? My experience so far has been no where near that....unfortunately. Haha. Maybe I need to root and get this thing cranking!!!

No with stock I was getting much less.
I was running Gummy when that screen shot was taken. I have since moved to AOKP m3 but I don't find the battery as good so I am switching back to Gummy.

I consistently get atleast 15+ hours of battery with 4 hours of screen time on stock everything including battery. My brightness is around 25-30% percent though. I also keep my gps, bluetooth, auto sync off. Only use 2 widgets that refreshes automatically at a set time interval. Standby time is outstanding on this phone, it's just the screen that kills the battery. I can easily get through a week on standby.

I'm in DC and need to make it through a full day on the battery. I need a from and kernel that can help me make it through a good 12 hours with no wifi and over 2 hours screen on time. Please help, I haven't made it more than 8 hours yet.

Honestly if it is that important put a second battery in your pocket. Its the only guarantee.
With that said, I have gotten pretty good battery life on AOKP M4 ROM w/ Franco M2 kernel. I average about 20 hours, with 3 1/2 hours screen time.
Every phone is different though, so there can't be any guarantees. The only way to know for sure is to test for yourself. It doesn't seem like you have the time for that though. If it were me I would grab a second battery or a charging pack.

Try AOKP B29 stock kernel with on demand governor. I managed 4 hours of screen on time with roughly 20 percent left.

Just turn off LTE and background data/automatic sync. Your phone will run forever.
Yeah, i get those kind of battery statistics or better all the time with my GSM version. If you can just turn off 4G and it basically turns it into a GSM phone with a little bigger battery, I'd do that. Also, carry a spare battery if you are worried about it.
Enjoy DC too. Great place to visit. Lots to see/do. Tell Barack Chris says hi--he'll know who
You can find charging packs with over 5000 mAH for as low as $25 online. Since you're in a hurry, I'd get a pack from Fry's or similar places.
Go with AOKP Build 28 with Franco's Kernel. And undervolt your values a bit. Let me know if you want the uw values and aren't able to figure out yourself. Mine gives about 30 hours battery life with 3-4 hours screen on.
Battery pack or pick up some batteries.

[Q] What's the fix to batter life problem, aokp b39/franco185?

Hi, guys! I'm still having a problem with the battery life on my Gnex. I'm using AOKP and Franco combination. Always updating the system whenever these two combos releases their latest bu still no gain on battery. Followed some tweaks on 'Custom Backlight Settings' BUT STILL NO IMPROVEMENT. I've been working on this for 2weeks working on the same combos because I don't know how to change ROM and Kernel coming from these two.
**xda won't allow posting outside links and so I can't show you the screenshots
**But I tried attaching the screenshots, please try to check below... Thanks in advance!

I Believe Nightly 185 had a new wifi driver which wasn't stable and drained alot of battery ... try flashing his stable builds
These screenshots don't mean anything without screen on time.

As said above, screen on time please. Unless you're losing like 10% every hour, or don't get around 4 hours of screen on time (I get around 5, stock battery), then you're fine.

Okay. I guess this screenshot below is what you need. I hope this one is correct.
Also thanks for the responses, I'll try to flash either the Franco 181 or just change kernel I guess AFTER I HEAR ALL your insights.
**after seeing this screenshot below, what Franco kernel release do you guys suggest?
**Is radio probably affecting this as well? Because I didn't flash radio. Just Rom and kernel
**Should I try other kernels and what's the best fit for AOKP?
You're kinda correct. We need a screenshot when the battery is 2-3% and is about to die.
I get about an hour of screen time per 20% of battery however, so yours is draining about twice as fast. Still would like to see the correct set of screenshots tho.
Also, just fyi, I'm using Build 39 as well, but with Franco M4, and I get around 5 hours screen on time. Keep that in mind if we decide that the kernel is to blame.

Thanks! So, I'll just wait for my battery to drain (2 to 3%) then I'll post a screenshot again. I just flashed Franco Milestone 3 and will observe. If it still no go, I'll flash M4 LOL ... Then would probably switch to diff. ROM and Kernel combo if all fails

Oh, I don't have wifi at home. SO whenever I install apk, copy pictures/videos or even posting screenshots like today, I plug in the usb chord and it automatically charges the phone.
But if I don't connect my phone to my PC and use the phone moderately, the phone get's low battery pretty fast, like after equivalent is 3mins= 1% ...
Someone suggested air kernel. I think I'm gonna try that one and see the result.
Well if you're doing that it's hard to get a good grasp on how your battery is performing. You should go a full cycle without hooking it up to your pc and then post your results.

I agree and I will post maybe tomorrow. But in the meantime, what kernel do you suggest for battery life? I got my eyes on Lean kernel. Changing ROM would probably be the last thing I would do IF changing kernel won't still work.
I don't remember my results but I did get great battery life on leankernel. Currently using Franco's milestone 4 and still getting pretty decent battery life.
First, post correct stats (no charging in between), and then let's discuss the future.

My guide for 18 hours battery life on Jelly Bean

I am here to share my experience to get 18 (around 5-8 hours screen time depend on your usage) hours normal usage, browsing chatting, facebook and calls.
2 days if you are not touching your phone at all, standby.
follow my guide, I think it's all about the Kernel but I shared the rom I used too just in case.
this guide is for GSM, might work on others just download the proper rom and kernel.
Optional, you can underclock to 1ghz but I didn't and got 18 means more if you underclock it.

point 1: when you go to 1GHz , it's called underclocking. undervolting is when you lower the voltage for the corresponding processor frequencies.
point 2: 18h , but what about screen ON ? how much is the "normal usage" equivalent to, in terms of screen ON and the stuff that you're running on your phone.
it's nice to see you trying to contribute and thumbs up for the effort, and i really don't want to sound like an a-hole, but this is not a guide. flashing a custom rom + kernel, and letting the battery go through a few cycles cannot be considered as a guide with battery saving tips. Cheers mate.

Your phone was plugged in multiple times throughout your screenshots. So yes, you should redo screen shots from 100% and include display on time.
It doesn't really matter though, as no one will see your same results unless they use their phone the exact same way.
And under clocking is unnecessary on the nexus, it doesn't spend hardly any time at 1200mhz anyway. I use mine for a lot of game play and still don't spend much time over 691mhz (Trinity kernel). So if my phone decides it does need to ramp up to 1190mhz to remain buttery smooth I'm not going to interfere.

hey thanks for the write up... i used it alone to change the colors! now my screen isn't yellow.
question though... when I adjust my colors manually, when I go to 0 percent brightness, everything goes like super green... like crazy looking lol.. but at 3 percent it's fine again... any idea why this happens and how I can fix it to get true 0 percent? thanks!

I'm using a stock one and all I can say is: Just dont use Nexus as a videogame.
I got 3 days and some hours of battery talking some minutes and using wifi for some time (probably 4 hours overall).
Playing sucks up the battery life. At least for me.
A normal day of use, with wifi active, many calls, auto bright and SetCPU profiles gives me 'bout 18-24 hours of use.
A intense play day gives me 8 hours. And I think its generous.

WHO IS GETTING GOOD BATTERY LIFE ON ICS?? GIVE ROM and tweaks and hrs with use

I am serious about to go back to GB. ICS is sucking in the category of battery life. I need to know what is going on.
I am running Re-Calk 0.1.17 with Agat 4.3 and CPU Sleeper. Took my phone off the charger at 8pm and already down to 85% with it being in nothing but deep sleep. Same thing basically happened on Blazer also.
I need something to keep me on ICS. Someone please tell me what you are using.
I have had the same issue. Ive tried many combinations of roms, kernels and tweaks but I still haven't been able to match calk's 3.0. Curious to see if anyone is getting decent battery life on ICS.
I'm getting good battery on aokp m6 but it also varies widely depending on what I do. if I play alot of games or watch alot of video I have about 10% after a 16-18hr day if I just browse and txt I go to bed between 30-50%. Only tweaks I did was disable the capacitive buttons and led by deleting their files from inside the he folder in /system
We are legion, for we are many.

I dunno, whats good for you? I am back on my trusty CM9 Nightly 7/17 which has the FF18 repack kernel which was supposed to be worse on battery life than the FF11. I get 30 hours or so on my days off or days at work when i might check the phone a couple times an hour.
Heavy usage any rom, any android version can kill an E4GT in 3 or 4 hours most days i get 6 to 8 with an hour of 100% brightness screen on time.

2% screen on how many minutes was ur screen on
i think the reason why Calk 3.0 have superb battery life is because the CPU is underclocked at 800Mhz instead of 1.2Ghz
Just my $0.02
I was Super Galaxy ROM for a while and my battery life wasn't ever that great
I had to take my phone in for a signal problem (which ended up being a downed tower that the Sprint rep didn't bother to mention, don't get me started) and so I flashed to GB and then did the OTA update to ICS
I've been getting awesome battery life outta this thing now.. It was a really light use day today, but I'm at 60% after 13 hours (only 1 hr of screen on-time though).. but on SuperGalaxy I would usually be at about 20% of less even with little to no screen time.. (I did love everything else about Super Galaxy though)..
But I've seen lots of people say they got horrible battery life on the OTA... (I did start from a completely clean phone though if that matters)

Best ROM for Battery and Data Use?

I am sure this has been asked, but I really need some help with this. I am using fully 4.1.1 STOCK and I do use the data on my phone quite a bit, but I don't see how after 6 hours, my phone is completely dead after a full charge. Screen on time was roughly an hour and a half! What is the BEST ROM with the best Kernel even, for battery life and extensive use of data?
The max I could get waas 2 hours screen on time, 3G really hurts your battery, I don'think theres anything that can change that

No I don't think so. Are you using the Verizon or GSM version. There must be something with your phone or the settings, possibly a wake lock issue. With the GSM version and 2000mAh battery I can pull 3-4 hours of on screen time, using roms like AOKP and Franco Kernel. I turn off data, wifi, gps and bluetooth until I need them.
Can you go into Settings -> Battery an take a screenshot. Then press on the "battery graph" to reveal the history details screen and take another screenshot.
Not sure if it work with stock, but holding the Power + Volume down button should take a screenshot.
Every bodies phone acts different with certain ROM and kernel combinations I have had good luck with lean kernel but that doesn't neccassarily mean you will
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
For your display brightness, you may want to install Screen Filter. Its in the market. Especially without having to tinker with the display settings it lets you dim it down even lower than the lowest setting. Also great for movie viewing in a low/no light setting.
I think this requires root, but you should try Better Battery Stats, select partial wake locks since charged, and see what the culprit is.
CPU spy would also be a good one to see what frequencies your cpu is running on the most.
I'm currently on liquid beta 1. It seems to hold battery quite well compared to cm10. I also use trinity kernel, and the TKT app.
