It is called, simply, Sony SmartWatch (slightly unfortunate tagline: "Touch your world"), runs $149, and is supposed to come out in March. Here, I'll let it speak for itself for a moment.
Funnily enough, it lacks the one feature we most consistently associate with a watch—indeed, a feature we might consider indispensable: the continuous display of the time.
But in order to preserve battery life, the Sony SmartWatch only tells you the time when you "ask" it, by tapping once on the screen.
Tapping again calls up a range of apps on this Android-compatible device.
You can check your e-mail, texts, the weather, Facebook, Twitter. When a call comes in on your phone, you can reject or accept it via the watch (quite handy if you're wearing a headset).
And the thing is tiny, 36 millimeters by 36 millimeters, 8 millimeters thick, and weighing just 15.5 grams before you slap on a wristband of your choosing.
A few more details, for the spec-hungry: the watch uses Bluetooth to manage its commands to your Droid, and sports a multitouch color OLED display.
Sony's keeping somewhat mum on battery life, but CNET says about a week with low usage, half a week with moderate usage.
The watch is something of an update of Sony's LiveView watch, which was consistently ranked among the top handful of smart watches out there.
Why do smart watches matter?
I'll restate the obvious: they prevent you from having to fumble around in your pocket, constantly.
They stand to transform your wrist into something akin to (if a wee bit short of) a heads-up display.
It might seem like a minor point, but smart watch partisans call the experience transformative, and breakthrough technologies often arise through little ergonomic efficiencies like this.
(My one complaint is that these things will surely make the often oppressive feeling of constant connectedness even more oppressive and constant.)
EDIT: I have found a website selling the device, but I have no confirmation about it being geniune or not. Anyways, on own risk check it out, but I cannot be held responsible for making you buy fake items.

The player should be universal. I have multiple BT devices and most of em can control Spotify, even if it's just the PLAY button.
It's an interesting dillemma, isn't it? The primary function of a watch is to be a reliable time teller but trying to preserve standby time means making less use of it.
To justify such a device, you would obviously need to constantly utilize it, but "heavy" usage of the device would mean having to recharge your watch every day if it makes it that far.
Not for me, personally, but I can see it being a hit with a niche group of users.
Very nice !!
Good to see someone trying a watch since ms's failure with the Timex some years ago.
The need is there given the right solution.
i think i'll prefer the Moto ACTV better

Possibly, but $250 puts it into the same class as a smart phone. I think the pound price is about $125-$150 US.
Looks nice!!

Sorry, but I've got to support these guys. They definitely need my funds to keep up with the rent on their ultra-clean office facilities.
I just preordered one myself, so I did some research on various online shops and thought I'd share it here:
amazon.co.uk €120 to be released on feb 29
mobilefun.co.uk €91
clove.co.uk: €84 first stock in early march, not sure if this includes any wristband
cyberport.de €80
cyberport.at €81 for austrian customers only
All prices converted to EUR (17.02.2012)
I hope it won't be as disappointing as Sony's Liveview..it was a wste of money..
Well I use the first LiveView with the SGS2 and it works really good.
The new LiveView price is to high and I think it´s cause only "Sony" branded!
I have SGS2 and liveview, and it suck big time.. all the time broken connection
Amazon now have it listed as April, I've pre-ordered it as I don't like taking my phone out to read a message when I'm out.
All the things it can do are added by installing them to the phone, I've already seen someone is adding things that Sony missed like gmail
very Nice . But Expensive

UPDATE: THE CORES ARE NOT RECHARGEABLE. THAT'S A LET DOWN FOR ME. HOWEVER, I DO SEE THE MARKET FOR THIS.
When we say "two weeks to a month" of power, we're referring to the ability to charge your phone (tested on an iPhone 5) once a day for two weeks. But for people who charge their phone around 20% battery life (instead of when the phone is completely dead), like many people, the charge would last about a month. That's where those numbers come from.

WOW...that seems great....
But, it is way cheaper to recharge using a normal battery pack. I see a reason this technology exists, but, its calling is not recharging batteries.
What are people supposed to do with old pods?

I'm not sure it is for me and you on a daily use basis where we can plug in etc...but if you are a long distance traveler and in areas where there ain't no plugs, 10 of these in a bag would last you a while in remote areas. Pretty much anyone that goes to, reports on or whatever for long periods of time, I can see how this would be a god send.
So it's a fuel cell basically. Probably enclosed. Fuel cells run off hydrogen typically gained from splitting water molecules. More advanced fuel cells can gain a higher efficiency rate when mixed with other chemicals.
I'd be interested to see if you could crack one of these babies open and just refill it with water. I know they already have water-based chargers. Using pure water would probably reduce the efficiency and longevity, but its water... refilling is still easy.
Most companies that are doing these "fuel cells" are really just trying to find a way to nickle and dime the customers. Companies don't want to introduce "free energy" by just filling up a bottle with water. They want to split the modules and sell you just the hydrogen/fuel mixtures.
Would be nice to just buy a fuel cell that lasts a few years. That would be worth it. But the cost of this device + refills <> electric? Are they trying to make a "cheaper" solution to plugging in to the wall every night (cause they should be) or are they marketing it as a "convenience" device with a high price tag (seems like it).
It looks like whether or not this is even going to get released is in question.
This is a comment on the product page @ Brookstone:
"Ordered from brookstone during the CES promotion with a shipping date of july its now september and acording to customer service they dont know that they will ever get them. Theres even a nifty term for that vaporware."

This one looks like a better deal to me. If I needed a kit for wilderness trips, this would be the one.

I always carry a Goal Zero Nomad 7 in my bag. It's never failed me when I needed it. I have the battery pack accessory, so I can keep it charged up for times when I need a charge at night, or it's just too rainy. I've been thinking of upgrading to a slightly larger panel. Anyway, my point is that portable solar panes are great, and they don't cost anything but the initial investment.

I received the G-Shock Gb-6900b-1b yesterday as an awesome present from my bro in law. It wasn't linking to the phone until I updated to 4.3. Casio says only the iPhone and Galaxy 4 are officially supported, but everything is fully functional as of the update.

Congratulations! Could you post some photos and to tell what exactly gives that synchronisation?
It is too expensive for me in any case. I have had a G Shock watch, I have bought it in german Amazon for about 10-20 Euro, it is looking quite the same. It has an awful quality, despite Casio usually don't do a bull****, but one left button "mode" has fallen, so now I can use this watch only with arrows.
But I think for 180 dollars they do much better watch hehehe))
I just don't understand what gives that synch for such price? Has it geolocation or radiation detector?)
P.S. white watches in your link are fancy
Here are some pictures. Keeping it connected is kind if a pain though. Hopefully it improves.
It's pure Bluetooth, allows you to set alarms and find my phone if lost. Not as fancy as the smart watches but much more durable and last a couple years.

Problem with the smart watches is requiring to regularly recharge the battery. In addition to other mobile gadgets now there is a watch to recharge (!)
So how does the battery on the casio manage with bluetooth ?
G-shock is a term Casio has been using for over a couple of decades now.
It's says it will last about two years on its charge before the battery needs replacing. No recharging!
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
so what is the function of the bluetooth?
My guess is that if it's constantly connected to your phone then the knock on effect will be that both devices will be hit by the usage, unless they've found a way to drip feed the BT and retain battery?
Two years on one charge is pretty epic when you consider it connects via BT.
Perhaps a kinetic type watch which replenishes the juice when you move would be a better innovation.
I've got one of these and it works pretty well. You can get alerts for email, sms, facebook, twitter, etc. You can also control the phone from the watch with features such as skip forward/backward on your music player, play/pause, volume up/down etc. The watch even displays track name info and email & SMS sender on the display. The downs are that it's a very large & chunky watch and that's from someone with a large wrist and that the phone's battery is greatly affected by this connection. I carry ZeroLemon spare batteries so to me it's not as big of a deal but to others it may be a deal breaker. Another thing is I had to disable one of the features due to annoyance & something that does need to be addressed by the folks at Casio: Lost connection warning. This is a good idea and in theory is supposed to warn you before you leave your phone somewhere. In practice what it does is annoying alert (tone & vibrate) regularly when your phone is in your pocket next to you and the connection is just dropped. The connection is far less reliable than most bluetooth devices I use and this includes going back several years. Other than that the watch is supposed to last a couple of years on a single battery which the competition couldn't dream of (although old Nokias before smart phones were the same since they had limited features which is a similar comparison) are ultra durable and with a solid price point too. While I hope they add some more features and fixes easily done through app updates the watch itself is pretty solid as expected for a G-Shock.

G-Shock+ alternative: BlueWatcher
Hello everybody,
I'm the founder of the Android Application called "BlueWatcher". BlueWatcher is the alternative to G-Shock+ Android app to control CASIO Bluetooth watches. A lot of users missed functionality in the official app and I decided to release my own app including the functionality that users proposed me. It's evolving quickly!! Now it supports all kind of notifications (facebook, whatsapp, line... all installed apps), time synchronization, musico control...
You can visit http://www.bluewatcher.es to discover more about BlueWatcher and what BlueWatcher can do for you.
It has been tested my many users in the XDA Developers forum and now it has more than a hundred downloads (~4.70 punctuation at Play Store).
I'm here to help you ([email protected]). Feedback is welcome!
See you and hope you enjoy it!
Use the old version of Gshock App
Hey man, just use the old version of the Gshock App. and don't update it. It will work better again, connects automatically.
i'm also thinking on buying gshock with bluetooth, im just wondering if the music controls work with other music players such as spotify?
After Lollipop Update it didn't work
Can't connect on my Sony Xperia Z1 after the Lollipop Update. How about yours?

Hey all
With IFA 2014 underway, we have more info on the Sony Smartwatch 3. Lets start with a hand on video
Credit to Which
Sony Smartwatch 3 key features:
Design: Sony has taken a sporty look with its latest smartwatch, with its rubber wrist band that can be swapped by popping the center watch out of its strap. While there are several colors available, they are of all the same type, so its down to Sony if any other style will become available. Its design does open up a few other possibilities than just a wrist watch, SmartPocketWatch anybody? As with most of the new wave of Smartwatches, this has no camera, for me no big deal. The device features a bright 1.6" 320x320 transflective TFT LCD display.
Android Wear: With Google's big push to unite all wearables to one operating system, Sony has provided with the Smartwatch 3. Its built around voice command and simple gestures to help with the functionality of such a small screen. It allows functions such as the ability to reply to text messages, view Email or get directions, all from the wrist!
Fitness Monitoring & Walkman: Sony has introduced a service called lifelog, this helps users monitor and develop their fitness and well being. Sony is also rolling out a new Walkman app, this will enable the pairing of Bluetooth headphones to the Smartwatch.
Lets take a look at some images of the Sony Smartwatch 3.
Looking forward to hearing members thoughts on this new design:good:

It's the strap that looks cheap. A full metal one is coming soon.
http://www.mobilefun.com/48552-sony-smartwatch-3-metal.htm
I hope they show it as soon as possible. Many people dislikes this watch because of the rubber strap (wich is great for sports and swimming).
Remember is the first IP68 and with GPS. Probably will be the first to fully support the extra features of Android Wear 2.
And Sony may have just regained a customer.
(Unless the LG G Watch R tempts me away, stupid name though, I may have to go for the Smartwatch 3, just because it would be a less embarrasing name to tell people if they ask what I'm wearing)
It seems is a "last minute" move from Sony.
The rubber strap gave a negative first impression in many websites and forum comments. A full metal watch+strap may atract more people.
I was Ok with rubber because it's perfect for swimming or sweating, but giving options is the right path to shine and sell more.
I'm also really looking forward to see in action the sport/multimedia features without the phone. This watch is the first of a new generation.
Bring IT ON!!!
Despite missing the heart rate sensor, in terms of specs and hackeability, this seems to be the best (specwise) smartwatch soon in the market.
The screen is transreflective, wich, for me is a plus.
Would like to know if I can buy the metalic bracelet version on the release day, or will have to buy after, but definitelly very excited about this smartwatch:

Wi-Fi?
Where did you read it has Wi-Fi?
In official specs they don't say it:

Edit:
Ok it's here: http://dl-developer.sonymobile.com/documentation/whitepapers/SmartWatch3_SWR50_WP_1.pdf
Wi-Fi "enabled", what does it mean? normal wifi?
If it has wifi opens the door for many more things like music apps downloading music without the phone or to sync exercices directly...
It's weird they don't talk about it in Sony website...
What do you think?
Fingers crossed for the Wifi thing!

I do not think it is a tranfectif screen.
Does anyone has already seen the sw3 ON without backlight?
It is confirmed in official specs. I don't doubt of that.
But wifi is only a spec in internal documents.
In public Sony website they don't mention it. That's a mystery at the moment.
In google play, it also mentions it's WiFi Ready!!!
Also Bluetooth 4.1
https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=sony_smartwatch_3_black
Bluetooth 4.1 devices can act as both hub and end point simultaneously. This is hugely significant because it allows the host device to be cut out of the equation and for peripherals to communicate independently.
For example, whereas previously a smartwatch would need to talk to your phone to get data from a heart monitor, now the smartwatch and heart monitor can talk directly saving your phone’s battery and then upload their compiled results directly to your phone. This is crucial to the Internet of Things concept: peripherals become independent and can build their own networks before bringing the collation of all their data to you.
What does WiFi ready add in? I can't wait for this watch!
Sent from my VS985 4G using XDA Free mobile app
It is unclear if its a mistake or not. Sony hasnt said anything about it. In the prototypes is not enabled.
We can only guess. But the potential is big. For example imagine a music service to download music before going running, or after the actitvity to sinc everything without using the phone...
Wa have to wait for the Andorid Wear 2.0 update...
Has the Nike ap already been tested? http://www.kdramastars.com/articles...-s-newest-smartwatch-release-date-october.htm
And they range in price from $350 to $10,000+.
The stainless steel version will cost from $500-$1100 depending on materials.
Personally, I think they need to be checked for a head injury. Because no one, except a complete fool who needs to be separated from their money, will pay that much for a device with a 2 year lifespan.
$8000 for a Breitling, sure, I'll have it on my wrist every few days until I die. $1000 for a smartwatch that will WE KNOW will have outdated hardware in 2-3 years and can't be ungraded due to the march of technology... NOPE.
What are your thoughts on this?

waiting on the 360 v2
It looks like Apple built a great first gen smart watch. Of course being a year + behind the competition to release one it should be pretty decent.
I think the Motorola charging dock is much nicer then a magnetic button though.
Also the Motorola round display rocks over a square display.
And Apple pricing is nuts...
I'm looking forward to a Moto 720 that is half the thickness of the 360, has a 300 DPI or better OLED display and a much more efficient processor.
People still balk at the cost of the Moto 360, let alone anything higher.
Apple people will still buy it, after selling kidneys and other non-important organs on the market.
watching a little of the Apple video replay... a few things apple watch does that I wish Android Wear does...
Mark emails read/unread/flag/delete (AW does allow you to archive, but unless I missed it, there is no way to mark them read, flag or delete)
answer calling using mic and speaker on watch.. (AW allows you to answer/ignore call, but you need to use speaker/mic on your phone or a BT headset connected to the phone)
Glances.. to swipe easily between info like weather, music controls, heart beat (android wear uses Google Now, but if you dismiss a card, its not there... sure there might tbe 3rd party apps to do this, but they are not too obvious)
workout app showing calories, distance, time, etc. (fit isn't that great, especially on the android wear watch itself)
And it does look like the Apple Watch is a little more polished than android wear.
While they claim "All day battery life" (which equals 18 hours), with all those apps on there, animations, etc.. I'm not sure what it will get under real world use.
I do like the hotel room key (reminds me of Disney Magic bands for room keys at their resorts), yet I'm not so sure about the boarding pass on the watch for airline security though.
Still, even with the $349 up to $10K... I think Apple will sell a bunch of them. Its Apple. Their marketing is top notch. And their fans are crazy about anything they produce. Not to mention there isn't much choice for a smart watch to go with iOS.

Biggest reason the Apple watch will outsell all AW watches: They are the only option.
Apple's only real competitor in the wearable market right now is Pebble, as they are the only watch currently really compatible with IOS. After that, it's really just math. With so many companies trying to win the Android wearable market, each slice of the pie gets smaller and smaller with each new watch. With Apple, they don't have to share their pie with anybody. The real comparison is going to end up being sales of the Apple watch vs. Android Wear. There is no hope for Samsung or Motorola to even come close to the numbers Apple will put up, simply because there's too much competition.
As for deleting vs. archiving your gmail from your watch, you have to set your default option in Gmail on your phone. Check your settings and it will have defaulted to Archive, but you can change it to delete. As of right now, I don't know of a way to "mark read" but I wish there was. Swiping will at least clear the notification from your notification bar.
I know another "watch" is getting all the attention (only because it has a "fruit" on it). However, do not forget the most beautiful watch out already available. And yes, there is a good probability future updates will allow you to use that iPhone with it.

That i knew..
But there are a lot of emails I get which are not junk, and that I keep. So having them flagged READ in gmail after reading on my Moto 360 would be a big plus.

Default action is archive. As @WestPhotog pointed out, it can be changed to delete via the Gmail app on the phone.
A friend of my said about my moto 360 that he finds it crazy to pay 250 bucks for a smartwatch. Today I heard him say he wants a apple watch and I comfronted him and he ignored it He started talking that he wants the sport model for sporting.. I imedattly said don't this is'nt made for sport buy a cheaper sport band that will work with heart rate and everything. And isn't just a gimmic Hope that he will listen or atleast doesn't buys it for sport.. But for normal use.
But I think the apple whatch is pretty cool. And it has some great options. So I hope google will feel the heat from apple and starts a smartwatch war. And we will see a lot of inprovemend on our moto 360
Let the sheep buy their icrap watches, like any other icrap product the herd of sheep zombies will stand in line.
Then theres always this
for some reason I cant link tonight lol

this is just the kind of fanaticism that Apple somehow builds... from another, non-Apple, forum:
"And this is exactly why I think all those people who think Apple is competing with Android Wear and Pebble are off their rockers. Based on build quality alone, this product is on an entirely different planet from any existing smartwatch."
That the strength of apple, some people will buy anything that they sell. It's like a religion.
The Apple watch is expensive so now you see celebrities and tv hosts wearing it, but IMO the rounded square just looks too fat and clunky.
OG moto 360 still has the most elegant look!
This is the Koogeek Smart Blood Pressure Monitor

Unboxing
The package comes with almost no accessories: 1x Micro-USB Cable (to charge the internal battery), 1x User Manual, 1x Quick Start Guide, 1x Quality Certificate, 1x Warranty Certificate and finally the Monitor (of course). Basically, most of the content is paper.
As regards the Build Quality, well it is as good as an old-style blood pressure tool, probably better than standard digital ones though. The main part of the device, where all the magic happens, is made of Aluminum for the External Chassis, and of course plastic for the internals. It feels really solid, and after many days of usage it is still as good as new.
On the upper side there is the main Power/OK button, a Power/Charging LED (flashes while charging, steady when full), a Reset Button and the Micro-USB port for charging.
As regards the arm strip, it is made of the classic fabric used for this kind of accessories, photos show everything, including what words can't even explain.
The Display is really sharp with a nice blue backlight and also easy to read thanks to the big size.
Usage
There are three ways to use this monitor.
1) Without BT/WiFi (so as a classic digital monitor).
2) Using BT that trasmits data to the Koogeek App in real-time.
3) Using WiFi that transmits data to the Koogeek Server in order to sync everything even without having access to the app or smartphone.
When it comes to the measurement, it is really smart. First of all it is necessary to configure the monitor for the first time using the Koogeek App, then everything is set for any future usage.
Luckily the app is really well-made (with an annoying advert when you start it though), available on the Play Store, and compatible with Google Fit.
This is the advert, or popup, i mentioned before, i don't get why they choose to show this when the app gets started considering that the app itself is made for this usage (lol).
There are lots of features, most of them related to other devices (weight monitor, etc...) but the amount of details shown for the Blood Pressure is not limited at all. There is an indipendent graph for each section, blood pressure and heart rate, and it is possible to start the measurement remotely.
Here you can see it in action.
Also, something that i consider a must, is the possibility to add multiple users, in order to share the monitor with different people in my family. It is much easier to use a single smart monitor for everyone so that it is possible to keep track of each other' health.
As regards the precision, well being FDA certified guarantees maximum precision, and also the internal hardware is not bad at all, with Texas Instrument chipset and some other nice hardware.
Conclusions
Living in a country where Smart Home/Health is still sci-fi, this is something that really makes the difference, transforming something necessary less annoying and smarter.
This monitor impressed me for the build quality, and i know it isn't the cheapest monitor that can be bought, i admit it, but i wanted something complete and reliable, so i went for this one.
After having used it for more than 15 days, i can recommend this product to anyone that would like to get into this smart home/health world.

1. I use it, it supports only 2.4GHz networks so be sure to have your smartphone connected to it in order to configure properly the feature. It is used to sync the measurement result to Koogeek servers when your device is unreacheable via Bluetooth.
2. As far as i know Google Fit doesn't support blood pressure
3. No
Thanks Alberto for the answers. My doctor is always asking me to send him blood pressure report with exact time stamp when measurement was done. That is why I have bought this device hoping that such a thing will be implemented in the report. It's sad that I have deceived by myself. And sad that Koogeek does not going in to support.
