[Q] How to flash CWM 5.0.3.7 via .img file? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

So I've got a question about updating CWM Recovery. I have rooted and installed CWM 5.0.2.6 and Superuser, but now I realize that 5.0.2.7 is out and I need it to flash some ROMS.
How the heck can I update?! I've tried flashing via ROM Manager but it stays at .6. I downloaded the .7.img from the official Clockwork website, which you think would be the best place, but it's an .img. Odin is an option, but I can't find a .tar that is definitely the newest version of CWM. Can I flash the .img via the current version of CWM I have installed?
Any help is much appreciated!

There is a touch version of the newest cwm in the development section. The attached zip file will include .tar file in which you can flash through odin. Good luck!

Rom manager should update it. Are you sure your selecting t-mobile galaxy s2 when it asked for your device?

I'm having the same problem.
When I go to CWR site to download the latest CWM it just gives me a .img file not a .tar file.
I'm downloading the latest touch CWM for my first rooting of my SGS2.

Thank you to everybody who came forth with advice, but especially this one, the most simple. I had tried to flash via this method (I swear!), but the program just idled when I attempted to start the update. I decided to try it ONE MORE TIME though, and what do you know, it worked. Didn't have to lift a finger!

lol..you didn't answer his question. =P He asked you what version of Clockworkmod Recovery you are using when you try to flash the CM10 rom. For instance, CWM 6.0.1.2, is a version of cwm. Just for your information you cannot flash a new rom with an outdated CWM recovery or else you get the "get.prop" error. Try this: http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.2-d2att.img
This is a .img(image) file and cannot be flashed in odin or cwm. I'd suggest you type cwm 6.0.1.2 into the XDA forum search to find the file or you can follow these instructions: download the Galaxy S3 toolkit from Android development section and then select #1 for AT&T, and then #9 to convert .img file to a tar file. To convert the file you have to put the .img into the INPUT file inside the toolkit. To access the toolkit go to my computer and then click the hard rive and then search for the Galaxy S3 Toolkit and click on it, you will find INPUT in there.
After it converts the file you can rename it and then transfer it to you desired location for easy access.
Open up the Odin 3.07 program and then click PDA, make sure you chose PDA, and then navigate to the converted CWM 6.0.1.2 file and select it.
If you aren't in Download mode go to it now, Volume down + Power + the home button, and the top box should light up and say COMblahblah where the blahblah is a random number. and then press start and when it's finished you can try to flash the ROM again. Be sure to create a nandroid.
My guess is at least when it comes to this particular build prop error is that you may have an i747M and cm10 won't flash on that (its looking for i747) unless you update your recovery as mentioned above. That or use mobile Odin to flash the cm10 zip file.

Your going to have to install the gaaps rom after you install the cm10 one. Do a search for where to get the gaaps file.
how do I add more themes? like the blood red theme. I only have one option.

Hopefully this isn't a stupid question, can this simply be flashed in your current recovery? or do I need to use Odin again?
I would just be flashing the touch CWM over my normal version.
Thanks for sharing

Just curious i use CWM But was wondering TWRP if it's better i know it all depends on me which one to use but was asking just to know which of theses 2 can be better and more stable Thanks.:good:
So.. I flash this using ODIN, then I try and load into recovery and it's still the stock Android one. "Android Recovery e3" or something. How can I override the stock and get this one? I want to load CM10 stable.
Unlock the bootloader already?

WHOA!!
After days of frustration and failure.. I used the GS3 Toolkit v7.0 (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746665) and oh boy.. That was easy.. It does EVERYTHING.
If I can get CM10 Stable on it and WORKING.. I'll donate. It has been worth it. Incredible!!

[Q]Updating to CWM Recovery 6.0.3.6?

I remember updating my phone to CWM Recovery 6.0.3.1 awhile back but I haven't a clue what I did to achieve the update. I downloaded the newest version but I can't remember what I do with the .IMG file..
Any help? Do I use Odin? I'm on a Mac and I don't remember if I did this on my Windows laptop or not. I would really like to update to 6.0.3.6 so I can safely support flashing Android 4.3 ROM's and start testing out the new ones as they're released.

Odin is preferred to push .img or .tar files. ..
They don't call it rom "mangler" for nothing. ..
And users, especially new ones, or those new to Samsung. ...should learn to use Odin and understand it's benefits. ..
Rom manager is a poor interface for sending files to a device, especially at the recovery level. ..as it leaves no recourse to correct its own errors. ...g

Umm.. no? It was CWM 6.0.3.6 at the time I made this post, the current CWM is 6.0.4.3 so there wasn't much of an update from there. I found a way to do this using terminal emulator so I got it figured out.

Rooted using Oding and Root66, how do I flash custom recovery?

Ok, so I finally got root with ODIN and the Root66 file. Now I want to flash a custom ROM. First I have to flash a custom recovery right guys? How do I do that. Last time I had rooted, I had TWRP which I liked. Where do I get TWRP and how do I flash it if it applies to android 4.1.2?
Download goo manager from the play store, open it and press menu and select install OpenRecoveryScript. Just follow along with the pop ups and you'll have TWRP in no time.
Then you'll be able to flash roms...stay in the t999 section and you really shouldn't run into any problems. Oh and look into backing up your imei before you start to flash roms.

Do you really want TWRP or would you be okay with CWM? I know you can just download ROM manager and flash CWM. If not, you can use [ROOT]Recovery Tools - Flasher from the Play Store.
It can flash TWRP or CWM. I use it for flashing CWM Touch on my Nexus 7. It works great.

[Q] Latest CWM

I was wondering, does the latest CWM 6.0.4.3 have a tar.md5 version that I can use to flash the recovery via ODIN? I've digged through a few threads all over the place and tried Google searches but nothing comes up, either it's not available (only through ROM Manager) or I missed it somewhere.

Your othe option would be to use mobile odin from the play store, rename the .img to recovery.img and place in root of internal storage. then choose and flash with mobile odin.

That's true, but when wanting to switch from a stock non rooted rom to a custom rom, it makes it a lot easier and faster if I can simply get CWM and flash a rom instead of having to root the stock rom and then having to go through that process.

Good point. The last few times i have gone from stock to custom, i have used odin to flash a rooted stock. then I move forward from there since cwm .tars have been hard to find. I should have read your post more closely.
