You should be able to use any music you have as ringtones ....
as far as if you want to shorten them or just take segments out ... just google for an audio editor ... Phone should support .mp3 .wav and .oog natively.
If you add new ones, they may not show up until you either force a re-scan of media , or just reboot the phone ...

If you want an app to download ringtones try Zedge. If you want an app to make ringtones with your own music use Ringdroid.

Hi everyone!
I want to use the stock Music Player app that my SGH-I747m came with but it doesn't seem to work when I drag and drop my music which are mp3s into /sdcard/music/ALBUM-NAME/all songs here....
It shows the same screen which is to add music, drag and drop from your computer.....
Does this happen for anyone else or is there a silly fix that I can't seem to do.
Thanks!
Michael

Forgot to mention, I am on my Mac (Mountain Lion 10.8.2) and installing Kies with the manual installation from the extraction of the pkg doesn't work for me either. So Keis isn't an option.

So if i understand you correctly, you are having trouble with playing the music after you load the music on the phone?
Of thats the case, just reboot the phone after you load the music. I downloaded music for example and had to reboot it to see the music in the stock music player.

Well I put the music in the /sdcard/Music/ALBUM-NAME/_______.mp3 and it doesn't recognize it in the Music Player app, even after several reboots. I am using the internal SD card (16GB) not any external card.
Put it here instead. See if this works for you.
It is the default area for music by the app.

Oh! It worked! Yay thanks!
Just now I see double listings of each Album in the "Albums" screen of Music Player... Hopefully this will fix itself...
NEVERMIND! I understand why!

Zedge is great, but another option would be to edit your own music files with Audacity (if you want music).
Zedge ... Or like me as always make my own ringtones using sound forge
Zedge for new ring tones but if you want your part of your mp3s get ringdroid to make ring tones as well

Zedge all the way.

In PowerAmp I just click a song and say.. Ringtone.

Yet another vote for zedge - been using it for at least a year now. Has tons of the popular tunes to use - everything from star wars to old stuff like A-Team etc plus lets not forget TV series and music of course.
theres a ringtone that i heard in the movie, 'Die Another Day', where james bond picks up the phone when it rings.. thats the ringtone i want. but how can i get it?
Does anyone have the problem where the music player pulls all audio files including ringtones and notification tones and displays them in the list? I find it frustrating that it does this. Does anyone know a way to get around this?

No just plays music from my music folder try putting all ur music in a music folder. Before u do that force close the player then erase data for it and the media storage then make ur folder.

mine pulls it from downloads folder too, so anything in there also gets put on mine, also it will use pictures in the download folder as album art, had a pciture of my fractured swollen foot for a while as pantera album art since they were in same download folder till i figured it out
I need to ask, is any body else annoyed that when you add a song onto a playlist in the play music app it goes All the way to the bottom to the playlist. So you have to scroll all the music to reach the latest song you added onto the playlist. Is there a solution to this, is it just me?
YES!!! So annoying. However, I used to use DoubleTwist and it did the same thing.
So you're saying that the app is adding songs to your playlist in the same order that you added them?! Must be a bug.
I like my apps to randomly order things without my input...

No, but i much rather be given the option to arrange my songs from recently added, down to oldest. It is much better then scrolling through 50+ songs just to hear the latest one i added to my playlist. Play music used to order songs like this but at some point it changed. The option would be nice.

Agreed.
This and the fact Google Music doesn't have a podcast subscription feature are my two biggest complaints.
I though it could be adjusted online? I mean, it sucks to have to do that but I'm sure they'll get it sorted out. I'll have to logon my computer (what's that??) and see if I can reorder a playlist.

I've looked all thru my library on my computer and can't seem to find where to re-order the playlist.
