The market was.giving me problems so after giving up trying to fix it I deleted it how do I reinstall? I have a backup but when I install it it just force closes as I would expect because it is a system app

Try changing the permissions to rw-r--r--. You can do this on a root explorer (like ES), on the terminal emulator or via adb.

It works now except when I try to download/update an app com.android.vending force closes everytime

Do you have root explorer? If not I highly recommend it....you can navigate to the apps in /system/app and /data/app and remove it permanently....just tap RW so it has permission to read-write

Just let it open and then hit the menu button. Inside the settings there is a check box to disable automatically starting the program. I had to do the same thing with Caulkin's latest rom.

installation of system app via terminal emulator

hey.
anybody knows here how to install system app (htc calendar widget) via terminal emulator. i have copy that file to the root of sd card../???
If it is an apk file and it is on the root of your SD card then use any file manager such as astro or root file manager to locate the apk and select it and the phone should automatically recognize it..
If you actually want to do it through terminal I am not sure

cant uninstall star battalion

i tried to uninstall star battalion with titanium and it keeps poping up in my apps and in the experia play launcher ,i tried it with the chuck norris option and same thing ,in titanium i dont see it anywhere now(erased data and apk ) ,but in my apps and laucher its still there .i had a look with a file explorer and the apk is still there(system) and i cant delete it (read only)...anyway to get rid of it
Use adb. Connect device, open a prompt and type in:
adb remount
rm /system/app/*name*.apk
adb reboot
You may also want to delete the dalvik cache too, to remove the .dex for that game.

[Q] [Root] ICS Cannot remove some bloatware

Hello!
I've just rooted my arc and I'm currently using ICS 4.0.4. As in gingerbread I have installed root uninstaller to remove my "favorite" bloatware and I cannot uninstall these apps:
Let's Golf!
Playnow
Chinese keyboard
And some more
It really don't understand the problem because these apps are not in /system/app (and they are working)!
Edit: these apps are in /system/vendor/app in read-only mode :/
Thanks for your help!
I have the same problem dude and it sucks can somebody help

I used Root Explorer to go to /system/vendor/app, chose 'mount R/W' on the top and removed those apps without any problem.

In my system folder there is no subdirectory /vendor/app...
Maybe I have to download root explorer - paid version?
system/app
You can also try using system cleanup app free on the play store.

It's better to first try to freeze application from the app manager, if app is not listed or not freezable, use TitaniumBackup to freeze.
