Froyo Kernel w/Audio Boost - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, is there a Froyo kernel with audio boost baked in. I know and have used GB kernels that have it, but right now the ROM I keep coming back to is on Froyo. The absolute only downside is the low audio/call volume. Any help would be great.

I dont remember any froyo kernels having that. I know there are a bunch of apps on the market that are ment to boost vol, but i have never used one. I like audio boost though, makes it so much easier to hear. Its built in to the kernel im using, Tinys latest gingersense.

Yeah, I have used the GingerTiny kernels and really like them. I guess i will have to keep trying GB ROMs until I find I want to keep. Most that I have tried either didn't have all the features I wanted or had issues with flash not running smoothly.

I have a new stock gb based rom out, with almost every mod baked in. Here is the link if you would like to try it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492720

Thanks, I just went back to CM7, but I'll definitely give your ROM a try.

[Q]kernel question

Can you stack multiple kernels? I was curious because I am currently running the asop kernel and also wanted to try kings kernel. I am course going to give it a couple of days on my current. There are some things in kings that are not in asop.
Lastly, how do I go about removing a kernel? I tried doing a search on these but I feel like I am not wording my search right because the results that came up were not even close.

no, you can only use one kernel at a time, and to remove a kernel you have to flash another one! im running kings #9 right now...
I was under the impression that#9 does not work with cm6 though. Thanks btw.

It doesn't. I think King only has one kernel that works on CM6 as of right now.

Seems like a very nice and smooth rom. Launcher pro is supper smooth with the rom. Going to try kings aosp kernel. Stock kernel only allows over clock to 1.15, no 1.13 option, which is not stable for me.

It's apparently based off of CM6's source, then tweaked. I was going to post on here about it earlier today, but didn't have time.
I'm wondering if anyone can drop a compare/contrast of the different AOSP builds available for the DInc now.
I'm guessing here, but Ruby is as stock as you can get (until they change that), CM6 has some tweaks, UD has more tweaks and is built off CM6, and ShadowROM is built off CM6 and has tweaks.
Almost makes me wonder if someone should come along and pull them *all* together into some massive super-AOSP ROM... which from what ShadowROM's description reads, that's what they're trying to do.
I am trying this one right now...and looking that it has koush kernel, I suspect it also has the reboot/shut down issue... I really hope not. Personally, I don't care if they all pull together, or individually...but the reboot/shut down issue has been my biggest culprit on CM...and I depend on my phone. Ruby has been awesome...so if this one doesn't work out, I have something to fall back to.

Same here. I have to give up on AOSP roms for a while if I don't want to miss any calls while the phone reboots itself or goes into la la land. At least Redemption is very stable for me and good on the battery.
I can't wait to try this rom out. Does anyone know if it has the stock froyo launcher? Also mflops and radio would be nice.

TY Grikshanks for saving me on that one. AOSP vs. Sense-based ROMs and related discussion are starting to bug me. Especially when talking about AOSP kernels vs. Sense...
However, now that it's been mentioned, I did forget about IncredibleDoes' AOSP based ROMs. So thus far AOSP ROMs for the DInc are: ID's, CM's, UD/BD's, Ruby, and ShadowROM. I hope I'm not missing anything else... and UD/BD, CM, and Shadow are all based off each other. Ruby and ID are unique. Though I know all the devs talk to each other, I don't know the details on what is mutual or exclusive between them (ie if kernels are interchangeable).

Weird, I've been on 6.0.2, stock kernel with SetCPU settings as:
Screen off = 384/245 interactive priority 90
Temp > 40C = 768/128 conservative priority 85
Charging/full = 998/128 interactive priority 80
Batt < 25% = 691/128 conservative priority 50
And been doing fine throughout the day. No reboots on calls... only thing is that playing Parallel Kingdom sucks battery down pretty fast. Also makes the phone rather warm. But I've been on CM6 pretty much since it came out stable, skipped .01 and went straight to .02. Haven't tried Adrynalyne or KK's kernels yet.

From what I can tell looking at source code, it doesn't seem to be forked from anything. I'm guessing they pulled Launcher2 and modified the source as they see fit, so it's roughly based off stock froyo launcher. But I'm still learning how to play with source/github/etc.
I don't *think* any ROMs modify the radio. Are you asking what radio is required to use it? Personally I just use the newest leaked one, haven't had problems yet. And mflops should be similar to CM6's, as they share the stock kernel (and codebase).
Don't really know why people are so obsessive about benchmarks. Give it a try, if you don't like it because it's laggy or whatever, nandroid back. *shrug*

UD/CM/Shadowrom arent just "based off each other". Looking outside the scope of the incredible, Cyanogenmod is king of AOSP considering its support of multiple devices. Crystal Clear is starting to make its way out being that the incredible is their second device. most everyone knows the deal with UD, but i dont know a thing about shadowrom. in that respect, pretty much all of these roms are based off of CM, because all of these devs, including BlackDroid, consult with the CM team to create their roms, and some use parts of it. With that in mind, youll see that just about all of these roms use Koush's kernles from CM. Most AOSP built roms for a single device can swap kernels for the most part, since most of them dont really differentiate much in the OS anyways. The only real differences between these roms is mostly the optional built-in customizations they add in settings and the launchers they use out of the box, as well as whatever theme they add in sometimes if any. CM sets a good bar with full status/notification customizing from the settings menu, along with the performance, input, sound, display settings etc. Ruby sort of followed suit but swapped status bar customizing for other miscellaneous tweaks. BD just compiled a crap load of tweaks made by other people and combined them into his rom, yet it still lacks the status bar tweaking. Shadowrom seems to have fully incorporated it along with some of his own additions, but those didnt seem to work on my phone when trying them out. couldnt even see what was in the Misc. settings cus it FC'ed on me.
for the launcher used in shadowrom, yes it is the launcher from the Nexus. it looks like he smoothed it out quite a bit though.
the only roms that will upgrade your radio are those that come leaked from HTC themselves. No rom should "modify" your radio. if anyone has tried so and youre thinking about flashing it, dont.
FYI:

UD: Yes
Shadowrom: Yes
Ruby: No
Cm6 has some stuff in it forked from Ruby. I wouldn't say Cm6 is based off of Ruby because of that. Would you?
Ruby is its own project.
cm did not invent aosp, and have their own source tree.
Ruby does not use that tree.
1st big issue I see - it doesn't scan the built in memory for images or music. Not sure how the "three testers" they were using missed this one.
Been running this for 2 days now. I flashed Kings AOSP kernal over the one that came with this rom. Runs very smooth and stable. Only one small issues... couldnt update to newest version of google street view (newest version of google maps comes installed with this rom), and camcorder does not do 720p. Camera is 8mp though. Great stable rom. Quadrant scored in the 1400 range with no overclocking on king kernal. High 1500 range @ 1.15 ghz.

For those people having trouble with their 8gb internal memory being recognized, a great music player that someone else on this forum recommended called mortplayer recognizes all of my media that is on my internal memory and plays all my music without a flaw. Mortplayer is works great on ruby, CM6, and shadowrom, those being the only AOSP roms that I've tried so far! Just throwing it out there for anyone with media on the internal memory

[Q] Trying to escape Cyanogen, any suggestions?

I have been using Cyanogen since CM6 and I have gotten to a point where I absolutely hate it. My GPS is hit or miss (usually miss), and 90% of the time I get a call I end up missing it due to my screen not waking up. I wont even get started on the FC's
So I am on the hunt for another good rom, there is only a few things I'm looking for in a rom other than what stated above to be working. GB of course, not a fan of sense roms, and it has to look clean. I am admittedly very picky about how my ui looks, currently I am using the Matted blues theme, with ADW EX and I exclusively use the hidden panel with a wood dock look to it, and I use the Faenza icon theme.
Im open to any and all suggestions, even if it is a sense rom, just help with a link to a SBC kernel along with it, because I know nothing of sense kernels. And I'm even open to MIUI if its finally stable.
If you wana stay on AOSP, you could try decks rom [a cleaned up version of CM7], salvage mod [bare bone AOSP], or MIUI...AOSP with a twist. If you want a sense rom, I'd go with the synergy-kingdom sense 3.0 rom.
As for kernels, for AOSP, I strongly recommend the Tiamat kernel, along with the vipermod. PM if you need anything else.

I have given serious consideration to decks rom, but is it a steady rom or is it just a fly by night build?
I tried synergy kingdom, I was fairly impressed once I installed ADW. Sense 3.0 for me was like playing a PSX game, everytime I turned a corner there was a loading screen, lol. But I was unable to get it to look the way I like, I want as little white on the screen as possible, aside from text.
SavagedZen Mod was horrible for me, and It hasn't been updated from RC4 in months.
As far a MIUI goes I'm trying it again, even though on the front page of the site there is yet another thing broken with it.
I have also tried Vealpak's new AOSP GB ROM, it was ok. anybody have any experience themeing it?
EDIT:
As I type im doing a nandroid in RA about to mess with MIUI for a little bit, and then Im going to flash decks rom. I found the main forum for it, and your right allot of people seem to be going ape **** for it.

Deck's is fairly stab;e, so you shouldn't have any problems out of it. And well the sense 3.0 roms are monster, so it can 'sorta' be expected. if you wanted to try that, you could try the supercharger script to free up some memory. I stopped using savagedzen kernels months ago once they only went to sbc, went to Tiamat...never looking back. As for MIUI > http://romsmaster.miui.us/ Just scroll down to the evo, and you can get the latest rom. I haven'y used it, though to theme is fairly basic: you can download a theme, and flash it via theme manager, or flash it old school in recovery. You can download icon packs as well if you wanted to use them.

Best ROM?

I am having a serious amount of trouble trying to decide what ROMs to flash and which to leave in the dust. I'm also contemplating cyanogenmod, but it's still beta. HELP!
"best" is really subjective. Everyone has their own tastes. I say stick with stock for a while, at least you know you will get the OTA updates. If it meets your needs, great. Read up on the features of each ROM, and see if any of the features are interesting to you, try them out.

I know it's subjective. I want a general idea of what the best ROM would be all around. I'll wait for cyanogenmod 9... Either way, I'm happy with stock, I see so many ROMs in the development section that I feel confused. And I only wanted a general, basic suggestion. Maybe you (or someone else) could give me at least that?
What do you feel you would gain by going to a custom rom?

Little enhancements for ICS. Speed enhancements. Optimizations. Tweakability. Flashing different kernels for OC and UV support (although I don't fully understand it). insecure boot image. Root (although you don't necessarily need a custom ROM for the latter two)...
Not a big fan of themes.
I guess, I've used cyanogen exclusively on my Nexus One, and my Nexus S. I want to branch out and try other ROMs, but I'm also not a flash head. I'd rather find one good ROM and stick with it (like I'm doing with stock). I've tried MoDaCo's (Paul O'Brien's stuff) and Android Revolution HD, and I feel like they're not too different than stock, so I revert back. What do you use?
Thanks.
Try out the gummi rom. It's based off the 4.0.3 build and basically stock, which IMO is perfect. It has the extended power down menu (reboot/recovery/bootloader), the battery percentage in the battery icon. And the Gapps for it includes Google Wallet which is nice. The kernel it's running can be overclocked and undervolted. All in all its a very nice looking rom and I haven't ran into a problem with it yet.
I prefer Android Open Kang Project by Roman, or Bigxie's AOSP 4.0.3 stock w/optimizations (currently using) with Franco Kernel (nightly 3)

Thanks man, I just feel like I don't want to deal with nightlies. This phone is my daily driver so I want something stable. That's why stock is kicking so much ass right now. But obviously owning a Nexus I feel like I missing out on some really important mods and what not.
I want a ROM that doesn't require a lot of maintenance.

I would definitely recommend Roman's AOKP. There's nothing unstable about it and it offers more customization than anything else released currently.
i downloaded the gummi one but heard of people having gapps issues so hesitated. currently using ZYGOT3 1.3 as it specified "final" and was posted by Droid Th3ory who made tons of roms for the Thunderbolt & a few Bionic ones. seems stable so far & better then stock.
Anyone feel that 4.0.3 is a bit more laggy in certain areas than 4.0.1 (or 4.0.2)?
I notice right away that the task switcher is a lot quicker (no lag on pushing the button) with 4.0.3 but I noticed everything else a bit more sluggish. Watching the apps flow in when pushing the app drawer button is chunky with 4.0.3 and pulling down the notification bar stutters as well.
This is my experience with AOKP and Bigxie's AOSP which are both 4.0.3 ROMs compared with the stock 4.0.1 ROM that came with the phone.

I would definitely recommend Roman's AOKP. There's nothing unstable about it and it offers more customization than anything else released currently.

I'll give that a shot as well. Thank you.

[Q][PRIMOC] Stock(sense) based, non-stock feeling rom?

Hey guys, i'm going to be on a bit of a vacation, so i would like to have my phones camera functioning at full-tilt, hence requiring a sense based rom
I am just looking for some input on what sense-based roms you guys might recommend, and what kernel to use with them (CDMA btw)
the main things i want would be much less bloat, and perhaps things tweaked in ways that might make it feel/look more AOSPish
and of course, speed, and reliability
anyways, thank you for your time, hope to get good input on roms.
u can try Xtreme Sense
okay, so i tried to flash x3reme sense, and i got error status 1 when twrp tried to flash it, same result from angry HTC
reflashed back to cfx
any ideas?

stock is probably the best option because you know everything works... could always switch after you get back... also I believe I used wifi tethering when I was on stock with stock kernel... not sure if it works or doesn't work on custom kernels cuz I saw a post about it in the JMZ kernel thread...
hope I helped...?

thanks for the input, didn't get to see it until now (already back)
i didn't really have time to RUU back to stock before i left, so i just stayed on the 3/06 build of CFX
didn't take many pictures, but i took a few, i really wish we could use the imagesense chip
everything works really generally great on that rom, including wifi tether, and everything
