Today I decided to update CM7 to CM9. downloaded new baseband, new rom etc. after update i got boot loop. waited about 30min, but nothing happened. then tryed to wipe device, but get this error:
Formating /data...
E:format_volume: no MTD partition "userdata"
Click to collapse
Then installed FX107 boot.img, but when I try to install updates from SD card I got this:
E: Can't mount /sdcard/
Click to collapse
Also when I try to wipe Dalvik Cache, i get:
E: failed to find "userdata" partition to mount at "/data"
Click to collapse
Any solution how to install CM9? and solve this problem?
UPDATED:
After I installed LT15i_4.0.2.A.0.62_Generic Global World.ftf baseband phone worked, but still no SD card. Now changed baseband to CM, and installed FX107 CM7 kernel, but can't update ROM ar gapps... But now don't have /data errors! Can mount and wipe it!
LAST UPDATE:
Changed ROM to CM9. Removed battery, added back and wuolia! SD Card works, and CM9 works! No boot loop any more!

This is really odd, i just updated Clockwork Recovery to 2.0.0.5, i then tried to flash to behnam's cyanongen mod 5.0.8-test7. I used Clockwork to download the rom + googleapps..ok good so far, once the download was complete i was offered to backup the existing rom and or wipe data...i chose simply to wipe. The phone then asked me to confirm the reboot, which i did, and it rebooted the phone but now brings up the black phone with a red triangle. If i press vol up + power i access the recovery menu but haven't attempted a flash because i don't know why i now don't have a properly functioning recovery? I seem to still have root access from within my currently installed rom too :S
Help lol?
I had exactly the same thing with the cyanogen rom and rom manager. If you go ahead and press volume up and power while in the red triangle screen, the recovery will carry on and work as normal. I've done it a few times now.

and if when you press those buttons the recovery doesn't automatically launch, click on apply update.zip, this is the recovery image

Hmmmm interesting...so re-applying the recovery update.zip will just fix it? Wonder what changed in clockwork to make this happen?

Correct, I'm not sure why it happens randomly, that is how you'd access the recovery image, the image is the update.zip on your SD card. So apply that and you're there
i'm using the latest recovery and i can't mount the sd card anymore with /moun sdcard it gives error /dev/block/mmcbl0 can't be mounted,
never the less when i start amonra recovery batch and then go back to connect with adb shell to the still running clockwork recovery it works to mount the sd card strange behaviour
excuse me for this noob question... but what is this Clockwork Recovery?

Do a search for it on this forum, or try searching rom manager in here. There are at least 4-5 threads on it. One of which is very big! Try searching for 'fake flash'

this is not an issue, it is a feature of the new clockwork
i have spoken to Koush and what this means is that you are not using Apps2sd so there is nothing to be backed up.
the error should therefore be ignored as it is not a problem
Erm, this sounds like a bug. Can you join IRC:
http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=koush
Ask for me, I'll be available.
I'm using apps2sd so the ext partition is there and schould be backed up!
i reverted to 1.8.9.2 (i think) and i backs up my ext partition just fine !
i'll join irc later !
Thanks to Koush for the assistance, top man.
Seems that some how the 'command' directory and 'update.zip' were missing from my /cache/ :s
koush, really nice support, fixed the sd-ext not mounting and not backing up in nandriod bug, and the mount sdcard bug within an hour over irc perfect!
could you post the solution koush gave?
just update to the latest recovery image (2.0.1.0)
mine's only offering 2.0.0.9
i talked to koush as well, nice fellow!
scroll down in Rom manager to older images, there you ll find 2.0.1.0

Unfortunately still not working for me on the latest Recovery (2.0.1.0)
Tried to backup my sd-ext (since that's where my A2SD apps are) and got:
Code:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(Invalid argument)
Could not mount sd-ext, sd-ext backup may not be supported on this device. Skipping backup of sd-ext.
I think my partition is ext4 if that makes a difference.

Can you send me an ext4.ko? Recovery currently only supports ext3.
I have some sort of sd-ext error when restoring a nandroid backup. At the moment my phone is stuck at the cyanogen boot loop. I've wiped everything, i tried to format the sd-ext but it will not mount. i've tried fresh installs, everything I can think of but nothing seems to be working.
sd-ext error is normal, that's actually referring to the partition where you would install apps2sd, I get that error all the time because I don't have any as well and no need to have that partition.
In ClockworkMod Recovery, the sd card is just called "sdcard"

Okay. So how do I go about getting my phone operational again? As I said i've wiped everything and tried to restore backups and did fresh installs and still am stuck at the looping boot screen.
You're using clockwork mod recovery right? Format your sd card using Windows to FAT32.
Boot into recovery..format all your other partitions. Mount USB storage, put a ROM in there, try stock Virtuous seems to be more stable than CM.
Clear data/factory reset, clear cache, then clear Dalvik cache. Install Virtuous .zip.
You should be able to boot. If you still can't try taking unmounting the sd card after the ROM finishes installing, try taking it out as well.

I successfully installed the MIUI ROM however it doesn't even get to the boot screen. It stays on the white background HTC Incredible screen.
I saw this guy had a similar problem:
http://androidforums.com/incredible-all-things-root/181337-backup-problems-ud-cm6.html
He said that Cyanogen Mod seemed to be better for him. But he was also clearing data/cache and Dalvik AFTER he installed the mod.
It's ok to do that after, but you better make sure to do it before. Have you tried clearing both before and after? If it gets stuck on the white incredible screen I am not sure, but if it goes beyond that and then crashes right before the boot is finalized then that might be an SD card problem.

Yes i've tried before and after. With cyanogen it loops the boot screen, with MIUI that I installed it doesn't get past the white screen and i cannot install virtuous at all
Anyone? I'd really like to be able to save $300 here
last loop i had with cyanogen was because i had the wrong kernel. make sure u flash a kernel that supports asop. its simple but it slips minds alot i usually use kings kernels (#2)

The phone is totally screwed up, it wont even accept unrooting and putting the stock ROM back onto it. I have *NO* idea what happened. I just got this phone replaced and did a restore and it was working fine, then it froze so i removed the battery and put it back in and then this.
http://androidforums.com/incredible...16-how-revert-back-earlier-version-hboot.html
try using that to unroot, itll take you back to 2.1 (or you could use a different ruu for whatever version youd like to revert to)
Fixed! I went out and bought a new class 6 SD card and used berserkers method to go back to stock. Thank all of you for your help!

Is this me doing it wrong or is there some bug? I'm able to install roms just not this one.
EDIT: i've tried the desireZ rom aswell and that failed. I also noticed the line "E:Can't mount SDEXT:" and tried an sd card with an ext3 partition but it then failed to mount the fat32 (/sdcard) partition but was able to mount the ext partiton (/sd-ext). From what I've been reading its because it doesn't have an ext partition, but as I said when I do it then doesn't mount the non-ext partition.
I too was having similar issues and found that re-partitioning and formatting the card did the trick. Also I had a 700mb partition before which I have increased to 1gb.
Phil
Had the same problem myself.I ended up putting a stock rom on to access market place, installed rom manager which I partitioned with then ran hd rom and it worked.Only problem I have now is its stuck in a boot loop lol and not sure how to fix it but hey good luck.
Cool. Got it to work, using stigslim's method of using ROM manager had a slight issue with it saying the Rom wasn't signed but I turned off the verification then it worked fine. No boot loop.did use the wrong SD card though. *Facepalm*
thanks
Can you tell me what procedure you went through in recovery, if I follow your tracks I might get rid of the restart problem I have.cheers

Exact same error as I got yesterday.. had to restore my sd card and restore to previous state. I assume there's something causing this rom to fail.

I'm afraid that you've to format your sdcard. Do backup of both partitions, do format and let us know if it helped.

Hi there,
I was about to flash a new rom on my Dinc, and right after I formatted /system, the sdcard became unable to mount and now I can't access the .zip for the new rom. I've tried flashing 3 versions of CWM as well as one of TWRP but none of them can access my SD card. I also reformatted it in my PC with no success. I currently don't have any operating system on it so all I can work with is hboot and recovery.
Can anyone help me fix this?

Did you format it fat32 with the pc? If the cards fine (can be used by pc and fat32) and recovery and hboot still cant find it, then id venture to say the sdcard slot is damaged or went out.
Using adb in recovery, you should be able to push a rom file to emmc and flash it from there.

I did format it FAT32, and the SD card is definitely fine. I don't think that the slot is the problem either because other things won't mount either.
Actually the only thing I can mount in recovery is /system, everything else is inaccessible. It was having mounting problems before which is why I decided to flash it with a new rom (was running Jellybean very poorly). I also tried flashing the original recovery, doing "clear storage" that way, and reflashing with CWM but it had no effect. During the storage wipe it said that /datadata doesn't even exist. It also shows errors that it can't mount the files /dev/block/mmcblk01 and /dev/blk/mmcblk0p2
This is what the log shows when I did the CLEAR STORAGE using the stock recovery
Restore factory NV setting...

The same thing happened to me long back. What I did was that I cleared data, cache, and dalvik cache... Worked for me... You can try but i wont take any responsibility
