Try to flash the official GB update first and then try Rev method. Keep only the drivers installed after RUU update.
Hope that helps.

Hi,
I just received a couple of new Desires with HBOOT 0.93.0001 preinstalled.
Has anyone seen this before, and is it safe to root?
Thanks,
Adam

You don't root a bootloader. But if you have Froyo, you will not be able to root it. You'll have to downgrade the software first.
Did you get the Desire from Vodafone UK? I know their new 2.2 OTA update changes the HBOOT to 0.93 apparently (which can't be rooted at present)
Thanks for the quick responses.
The Desires did indeed come from VF UK, and yes they are SLCD.
The radio version is the same as the one I've seen on this site: 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
Looks like I'll have wait until one of the hacking ninjas works out an easy way to get a root applied to a Froyo desire...

1. Can it be rooted
2. Is it slcd or amoled
It can be rooted my desires hboot is the same. I think its amoled but you can ring HTC and they will tell you.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
If it was just the mobo and you were on 0.80 then you're on AMOLED...either way you can root without issues
Yes it can bee rooted mine is also 0.93
look at this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=776696
same hboot, radio and slcd and i was able to root using unrevoked 3.21
Tried unrevoked 3.21 (4 - 5 times) and it would not root it. Spoke to guys on irc and they dont know why it did not work.
Wondering if I should go down the downgrade 2.2 to 2.1 then root then use a custom rom back to 2.2. I want to try the cyanogen rom really.
OH and thanks guys
What happens (or not) when you try?
Bascially it says its doing it but it aint.
Waiting for boot when its already rebooted.
Pushing recovery when its not.
connect device.

Any success yet?
Did you buy yours with this version of Hboot or was it upgraded via OTA? when?
a couple of mates have same problem can't root 0.93.0001
Yeah all sorted now thanks. Followed the "how to" at the unlocker
Rooted with unrevoked
Rom manager failed to flash 2 or 3 different roms so I flashed with Leedroid 2.2f using clockwork.
reports that you can flash cyanogen rom with amom ra bit not tried that way yet.
Happy with leedroid for now any way.
I had to send my .80 boot back to HTC for repair (GPS problem) and it came back with a new mobo and software.
You can root if you follow the correct "How to" some miss a few things out

Just rooted mine last night, no problems.
Am on T-Mobile UK, HBOOT 0.93.0001, radio etc all same as yours, all latest s/w from TMUK as I had just received it back from repair recently.
My steps:
Used Unrevoked 3.22.
Download htc sync, install, then uninstall the sync application, leaving the drivers on. Didn't need to mess with hboot drivers in my case.
Attached device, connected in disk drive mode with usb debugging enabled.
Ran Unrevoked.
That was it.
My PC runs Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit.
I follow the same steps still same hanging with "Waiting for root... (safe to restart if this doesn't work). My ROM is:RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC__ARA_2.32.415.3_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_157343_signed.exe
hello,
i have a htc desire with froyo 2.2 rooted with unrevoked:
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.11.05.27
after a few month of usage it reboot itself when using, now it won't boot there's a white screen with htc logo on startup...
when i go to the recovery it doesn't work the white screen appear again, so no access to the recovery...
i tried the RUU (.exe) method, i can't install because of windows not found the drivers, same thing after installing htc sync with drivers...
then i tried the PB99IMG.zip method and the result is that i have an error with a " main version is older " i have tried many version 2.29 2.1 .... and i have the same result : main version is older.
so please i need your help, if some one can rescue me thank you...
Have you tried to debug it yet, via adb logcat? At least it will give you an idea what's causing the bootloop.

thank's for your reply, i didn't tried the adb methode yet because i see that it's so difficult, but i think i'll try it if there is not another solution.
Follow this guide to set up your environment:

Hi All,
Returning missus Desire back to stock and have searched and found many guides..
following through, I'm basically installing the following RUU from .EXE file:
RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122704.exe
The phone was previously on Orange and I understand there is no RUU for this.
Upon installing this EXE...it gets to the area about checking the phone and intialising and all I get everytime is an Error 170 USB Connection Error. It can't seem to see the phone.
I am on XP and have tried the phone booted in to its current ROM (ICS) and also under FASTBOOT USB but neither makes any difference...
Any ideas?
Many thanks...
Rich
You're missing proper drivers on your PC. Try to download and install htc sync or driver package from htc dev site and then to reconnect phone.

That's not recovery, that's bootloader. Below that you have meny loking smth like this:
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
ERASE STORAGE...
You can use volume up and down buttons to navigate, highlight recovery and then press power to enter recovery.
If you wanna install stock, reboot your phone and let RUU running. My recomendation is to use 2.3 RUU since it's made for all versions of desire no matter of carrier. You can find it on htc dev site.

Well I have put back the stock HBOOT....
installed a RUU which now just gives me a white HTC screen and goes no further....
I downloaded the 2.3.3 correct RUU but it won't see my device and HTC sync won't install the drivers.
Any ideas folks?
Rich
Oh my BOOTLOADER now says this:
ALPHAREV
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT 6.93.1002
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
Radio 4.05.00.11
And also...within Device Manager my phone is being picked up as Android Bootloader Interface
Ok, this is the trick, your hboot has write protection and ruu can't overwrite radio. From your bootloader I can see you have old radio which won't work with 2.3 RUU. Of course RUU should overwrite the radio during install but it's not posible because of protected hboot...
You have to download downgrade hboot from alpharev site, flash it and you will have unlocked hboot. After that run RUU from PC and it will overwrite both radio and hboot.
But, you will lose s-off and root, so revolutionary again :-D
And don't worry about what's written in device manager, it's normal.

Thanks Nloo for taking an interest...
|I have already flashed Bravo Stock off the Alpharev site .... you can see in my post a change in the HBOOT information from Revolutionary to ALPHArev.....
If I try using the RUU it just says it can't find the Phone again.....USB error 170....
Any more help would be appreciated please...bricked phone!!

You actually don't want to read carefully, not stock bravo but DOWNGRADE that's the right one. After flashing you'll have this on top in bootloader:
ALPHAREV UNLOCK
not just alpharev.
Then after flashing reboot to bootloader not fastboot and then run RUU.
If RUU won't work you can try with rom.zip on sd card but that's a different story.

Hi All.
I have spent hours now on this and have hit a brick wall. My desire is running:
s-on
HBOOT 1.03.0003
MICROP 031d
RADIO 5.11.05.27
Android version 2.2.2
Baseband 32.49.00.32u_5.11.05.27
Kernel 2.6.32.15-g2633d94
software 2.33.161.6
(hope this is enough)
I have already rooted 2 of these phones but just cannot sort this one out. Running unrevoke3 comes up with "firmware too new?" and revolutionary says "not supported at this time".
I have made sure that all the HTC Sync stuff has been removed, set up usb debugging and unknown sources has been checked.
If anyone has any ideas to help me out I would appriciate it.
Cheers,
Spill.

Greetings.
Have you tried downgrading your hboot to the ones Revolutionary supports?
ohai, me too.
Hi,
after years of reading and leeching, i had to register today.
I have the exact same problem, i received an old desire and felt like fiddling around with it.
BUT: the one i have is branded (vodafone) and has HBOOT 1.03
So, as far as i understood, i have to downgrade HBOOT to 1.02, then use revolutionary. So i read all them tutorials and tried all them things, but i can't create a GoldCard because the service is no longer available.
What do? Can someone help?

Tried that a few minutes ago, RUU can't complete the update. Probably because i have Vodafone branding?
I had to download the RUU from somewhere else than htcdev, because htcdev seems to be broken and won't let me DL the file.
