Launcher - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Does anyone one else's launcher keep getting killed out of their memory? What I mean is when I go back to my home screen either by the home button or with the back button, my all my pages need to load back up and even my app drawer. It is very annoying! Is there something in the settings that I missed to lock your home screen in memory? I am running stock unrooted.

I had the same when i was on YAKJUXW 4.0.1 but havent seen that behaviour on 4.0.2 YAKJU.

I've seen it a few times, but mainly only after I've been playing a resource-intensive game - which is absolutely normal. If you're seeing it all the time (like each time that you're exiting any app) there's definitely something wrong.

Home keys dissapear?

Not sure if this has been brought up or not yet, but im curious to see if anyone is running into a similar issue, and what they did to solve it ...
Randomly, its only happened to me 3 times thus far, my back, home, and windows key do not show up. Everything else works, i just cant close out of apps or anything like that.
Any suggestions, ultimately I just power cycle, however if someone has an easier fix Id like to use that.
Sometimes they minimize to little glowing dots and just click them to open them up. Sorry if that's not it.

My completely vanish from time to time and what ever app im in goes full screen. That is followed by a pop-up stating the the System UI has stopped.. I just keep clicking on OK and then after a few mins it goes away.

[Q] Have home screen lag, what can I do?

Running stock ICS haven't touched anything.
Every time I am in an app and click the home button it loads a blank home screen then takes a while to load everything on my home screen. It didn't use to do this, only started in the past few days. Any ideas?

I was having that issue after I installed a live wallpaper (Microbes). Got rid of that and it went back to normal.
Don't have a live wallpaper installed.

Are you using a custom launcher?Did you touch anything in developer options?
Did you install an app before it started acting up? It may not be fully compatible with 4.0 and causing issues. Also, have you tried to do a simple restart?
Found the issue. It was easy battery saver. Got rid of it and its fine now.

it case it happens again, what your experiencing is home screen redraw. it happens when the android system kills the launcher to save up memory.
this means that when you press home to go back to the launcher, it has to refresh, and redraw everything. and the more you have on your homescreens, and the more apps/widgets you have installed the longer it takes.
i've noticed it happening a lot on my phone when i'm switching between apps and then press home. It's normal for third party launchers but very strange for the stock one to have this so often.
I've had the exact same problem of late (also with the stock app-draw), I imagine it's a case of pinpointing the suspect app that's causing this. It's pretty serious though, a good 2 or 3 seconds and even then it's super choppy until the home screens are redrawn... The joys of early adoption :\
I was just searching to see if anyone else was experiencing this. I get the same over here.
I had similar issue. Something ate all my RAM, but it wasn't listed in 'running apps' in settings . Reboot fixed it
well folks, the sooner you go onto custom ROM the better. I tried ignoring these (and several other issues you are about to encounter) but the list was getting endless
I've bigxie and franco kernel now (4.0.3), not difficult to install, and now most of the STOCK issues are gone...

Back button behaviour in Jellybean

We all know how the back button has worked since the old days. You're in an app and you get an email. You launch the notification. You press back when you're done, and again if necessary to get out of the email app. Android sends you back to the app you were previously using. Right?
Has anyone noticed this is broken in Jellybean? Most of the time, although I can't detect any obvious pattern, the back button sends me back to the home screen regardless of whether I entered an app via a notification or not. I want my back back

IIRC I had the same issue in ICS...JB is no different for me. Guess I just got used to it, but it would be nice to return to the previous app like you said. Waiting for a resolution
That only happens to me in this app. But it has always behaved like that for me.

locking phone takes a long time

When I hit the power button for my phone to lock it, it sometimes takes five or seven seconds to actually shut down. Are there any settings or rogue apps that I could look for to see what causes this? Waking up seems to be ok, but I guess it could be faster (takes like a second or two sometimes, usually pretty much instantaneous).
I experienced a similar problem using trinity kernel and I never figured out the cause. I had to go back to stock.
Hmm.. I am on stock, rooted.

I'm completely stock and no such a problem, you don't have any apps that do anything when lock or unlock?

Recent apps bug when waking up screen?

Ive noticed that when my screen goes off and I hit the home button to wake it back up sometimes when it turns back on it shows me the recent apps list as if I held the home button down. Only started happening since latest update. Confirmed happening on stock and frosty jelly bean latest build.. has anyone else noticed this? Btw I have pattern lock as lock screen

Yep - and if you disable the lockscreen it happens pretty much every time. How the home button is handled changed from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2, which is where the issue stems from I believe. It takes a little smali hacking to fix it (though to be fair I would consider the fix that I am trying as being in testing still).
Can you share how to resolve this issue. I don't think T-Mobile has fixed the issue and it is driving me nuts. I don't want a lock screen so that is not a good solution for me. I also prefer not to root at this point.
Thanks for any help!
It requires root unfortunately... though I suppose I could try to throw it into an ODINable tar similar to the prerooted tar thats out there...
