hi, is there any notification software for android which provides notification in phone, sms or mail softwares like it shows 1-2 numbers on top right of the phone, sms applications icon?
That is based on your launcher. If you are using touchwiz, launcher pro, or go SMS launcher you can enable this feature. It will not work for Gmail because of something Google changed.

Try this:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nlucas.iphonenotifications
Not sure if it gives you the bubble with a number though...
So i pulled the apk from data/app.
Replaced the icon inside like usual
Put it back to data/app. And it goes missing from the app drawer.
Tried putting it in system/app, and it says Handcent has stopped working.
Something im missing?
Non system apps have to installed, not just pushed. Delete your old one first our you'll get a parse error.

So grab the apk, change the icons, uninstall handcent, push hte apk, INSTALL that new apk from data/app?
Yep. if all your doing is changing icons, why not use nova launcher and do it with no hassles?

I figured id lose some kind of core ics functionality changing to a third party launcher.
Cant get this **** to work at all....
copied the com.handcent....apk file to my pc. Changed the icon.
uninstalled handcent from my phone
Transferred over the com.handcent....apk from pc to /data/app
Ran the apk and installed it, says Application not installed when i try to install it.
Upload the icon and the apk file. I'll help if you like.

Thank you, heres the two icons i want thrown in, theyre both in the drawable-hdpi folder. Thanks. Ones the main icon for the apk. The icon_pink is to overwrite the pink notification choice u can choice as a icon in the app settings.
Does nova change the app drawer icons? If so,how?
I thought it could only change home screen icons

Nova doesn't do app drawer icons, only homescreen. They do keep even after an update though. For OP, there is something odd about this app. Even just decompiling/recompiling with no changes, and the app closes immediately after startup. No errors or anything, and logcat returns no errors. My only advice is to use Nova Launcher- you will not lose one bit of functionaloty or appearance (exactly like stock) and will gain a ton of features.

What widgets, functionalities, and/or apps is lost from touchwiz by using nova or apex launcher?
I use nova, haven't noticed any features missing.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
The only thing I haven't figured out how to do with Apex that I can with TouchWiz launcher is change the wallpaper of both the home and lock screens. Can it be done?
Yes, just go to security I believe. The options are at the top.

Well technically touchwhiz is still running even when you install a third party launcher so you shouldn't be missing any built in functions like smart stay, direct call, etc. I haven't noticed any functionality loss due to installing Nova at all.
Thanks for the input. What about widgets. Coming from Sense, a lot of widgets were lost when I used a third party launcher.
I use apex.... And yes you loose the touchwiz widgets. There were only a few from what I remember as I hated touchwiz after 3 days, it wastes so much screen relistate. So you loose the touchwiz calendar, email, clock, and photo widgets..... I'm just going off memory though there might be more.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
The only thing I miss is being able to organize my app drawer into folders. I have yet to find anything with
APEX that allows me to do that. But there may be something out there to accommodate folders, but I'm not aware of it. If anyone does know or if it's built in, please let me know!

you don't lose the clock widget...
On Jelly Bean, what you lose is the ability to just toss items off the homescreen. You physically have to drag items to the "x" to remove them. You also lose the auto organizer feature when you drag widgets around.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using XDA Premium HD app
For some reason in apex, it makes my widgets 5x(X) even though they're normally 4x(X)

While you can't do that in Apex Launcher (as of the time I am writing this), you can always go to Settings->Wallpaper (It will be under the device category) to change the lockscreen/homescreen/homescreen&lockscreen wallpapers.
Using Apex or Nova also does not allow the badge functionality you have on touch wiz. You know, the little red icons when you have a missed call or email message. It's a bummer as I do like this function; however, Nova is super awesome due to its gesture function.

Nova Prime ($4 in play store) has "Drawer Groups". I have all my apps categorized into communication, games, multimedia, shopping, and system tools. Those folders show up at the top of the drawer, and all the un-categorized apps show up below it.
I think it's still not as good as the ADW Launcher that was built into CM7 that I was using on my DroidX. With that I could make shortcuts on my home screen to an individual category, so the kids could easily get to games and only games.

I like the weather widget. I tried like 4 different launchers and it was not available on any of them. If anyone can figure how to make it work in nova or any of the other launchers, I'll switch over from touchwiz.

So the most annoying thing to me is app tray icons for live wallpapers. Does anyone know how to remove those pesky little icons from some of these free lwps from the play store? Is there a way I might be able to go in with a file manager and delete something? Shoot I'll even send them over to you and pay you to do it!

Until UKB and Viper I was using CM10 and Apex Launcher was my go-to. It's got the persistent search bar as an option and also used my scrollable calendar widget with it.
EDIT: It's also free with the option to buy, which gives you more customization.

+1 on apex. I have a calendar widget that scrolls and it offers the persistent search.
I'm using the photo contacts widget and it won't work w apex. If you look on the market it says adw, go, etc ... any launcher that supports scrollable widgets. So should I assume the widget is at fault? Is there an option to enable it in apex that I'm missing?
Any of you guys have suggestions on a good contacts widget? I like the photo contacts one and have used it since day 1 but maybe its time to move on....

I haven't used it, so it's hard to say, but they don't specifically mention nova or apex. Wish I could be more helpful.

Sure.
Not a big fan of the pop up menu in the new ADW. Would like to see it as optional. Also the transitions are a bit choppy even with some speed tweaks. Those were the only things I have noticed off the bat. I plan on playing with it more but will probably revert to Nova pending future ADW EX updates.
