hi
i have DHD t-mobile uk, i downgraded my mobile than rooted using this > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841076 , and then i flashed Miui rom , but i dont know what does radio s- off means and is this really important ?
thanks
do i already done radio s-off or not ?
Yes you should have S-OFF. But you can check it by going into the bootloader by restarting your phone while holding volume down button, and it should start with bootloader, and then it will show S-OFF to the top.
Check this video from 6:25 on how to boot into bootloader and check if S-OFF is on.

Another thread about S-OFF has already been created. But S-OFF means security-off. For more info about S-OFF read the text under the title "Finally, what's Radio S-OFF and What Does It Mean to Me?".

hm thanks
you are the best
You're welcome! I'm glad I could help.
My girlfriend hope to remove some build in unnecessary app.
so i try to root her wildfire s.
But problems appear.
I am able to unlock the phone: from unlock to lock.
but then my hboot version change from. 1.08 to 1.08.0999
and keeping s-on
then I can no longer s-off it anymore.... Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First of all welcome to xda!
And second of all.....if you don't have a CDMA version of the Wildfire S....You CANNOT S-OFF it with a software for now.....there is a hardware called XTC-Clip which can S-OFF the phone but its too costly(check here)
And BTW unlocking the bootloader is enough for rooting the phone
If you looked around a bit you could have found about 20 similar threads......if you are new it doesnt mean everyone is new......people will just freak out looking at this thread
So please search before posting
About s-off
Sorry about that, I do search for long time about root. But since my hboot version is 1.08999 I cannot flash any recovery into my phone as they are all for version 0.9. Other say My version : unlocked hboot 1.08999 s-on is already mean s-off but I cannot flash any recovery to the phone....=[
Guys,
I'm trying to get my JB flasher tool to work with S-Off devices. (Mine is S-On so I can't test)
Can anyone with a S-off phone that's upgraded the FW let me know the procedure. There seems to be confusion about which commands work with a locked bootloader and S-off so don't speculate, only respond if you know it works.
Specific question:
If you have a CID of 11111111 does it need changing to a compatible CID from the androidinfo.txt? If so, how? Does the bootloader need to be unlocked?
Can the bootloader be unlocked without htcdev code? If yes, how?
Can all fastboot commands be run with S-off but a locked bootloader?
Thanks
DO NOT UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER!!!!
You will have to add the Super CID to the android-info.txt before flashing but other than that it's the same process as S-ON users

As easy as that. Thanks:good:
PS So S-off will ignore the broken signature?
Also, if someone has already unlocked their bootloader (due to not realising the power of S-Off ), I assume it'll need to be relocked before installing the firmware.zip?
PS Can boot.img be flashed via fastboot if its locked on a S-off phone?
Also, can I replace the recovery.img with CWM in the zip, or even just remove it. Same goes for the boot.img
If you're S-OFF you basically have the same rights as someone with an unlocked bootloader plus more so you can flash CWM/boot etc. through fastboot without unlocking the bootloader. As you said, S-OFF ignores the signature. So long as it's a proper update.zip it should flash without issues (I should qualify this by saying I'm basing this on my HTC Sensation and what I could/couldn't do with S-OFF. If I had an S-OFF One X I could give you a 100% answer)

you can't s-off for now...
I have been trying to get s-off on my desire hd using htcdev website, everything went ok, but bootloader is still saying s-on. Does anyone know what may cause this problem? I am running amdroid 2.3.5, sw number is 3.12.405.1, kernel 2.6.35.10, baseband 12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M. Device was already rooted by HTC Quick Root /w universal exploit
Thanks in advance
Htcdev will not get you S-Off. It will only unlock your bootloader, but it will still be S-On. You need AAHK for S-Off.
I can't get off either. Oh, that's s-off. Missed that.
Sent from the short bus
Relocked the bootloader and run aahk.
Read intensely on http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?cat=6
relocked bootloader and used aahk, thanks guys
I went from S=off to s=on in order to run a sprint RUU and I think i wrote the wrong MID and now im stuck in bootloader with out being able to install any ROM and also cant unlock the bootloader.
help!!!
Dont go stupid, can't do anything without an unlocked BL and S-OFF...... why on earth did you ditch s-off before solving problems.....
