Hi all,
I have a routed DHD and have used the advanced ace hack kit, everything went well and the root was successful.
Now when I'm trying new roms from XDA the problem is that for 1 week the rom work absolutely fine and after that suddenly it is in bootloop and then I have to change the rom.
I have tried the following roms:
1) Core Droid v9.2
2) Lee latest rom v5.1.1
3) virtuoso affinity latest build
4) bindroid
n a lot more but still having the same issue.
Right now I'm on ARHD 6.3.1
Requesting a sincere help from the dev community....!!

Look at what mods you do or what you install..must be some kind of trigger maybe..have u updated Rom only not radios kernels etc etc?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
apart from installing the roms i haven't touched on anything....as i'm new to all this.
Try cyanogen for a while..have you flashed any roms without sense?

Hmm, strange. What about ROM internal modifications or options?
As you tried LeeDrOiD 5.1.1 you seem to have that problem not always after 1 week (cause it's not that old *g*), so what about trying this:
of course make a backup of your data
full wipe your device (you can make sure to do it right by using a full wipe script
install a new rom and fully boot it
keep running it for a day without reinstalling your preferred apps
keep installing the apps step by step and watch the system's behaviour
When installing your new ROM and setting it up again, do you restore any data by using tools like Titanium Backup? If so, do you also restore system data or apps (+ data) only?
PS: maybe edit your topic's title to something better like "Problems with fresh installed custom ROM after a few days" or so.

I've heard about this LeeDriod Rom u can flash after rooting your device. I wanna ask,
1)what benefits does it have over the existing HTC sense Rom? And
2)how it fares against other Rom such as Android revolutionary HD Rom etc.
Another question, I've used my DHD for around a month for now, if I flash a new Rom, will all the setting, application that I've set, downloaded , be gone?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Regarding to apps and settings I can confirm as yes on your question. There is a way to retrieve apps:
- Get Titanium backup
- Root your phone (you can use Visionary)
- backup all apps + data (in titanium press menu -> batch -> backup all apps + data)
Later you can restore apps with titanium again (all backups are on SD).
About first two questions I can not answer you, as I still got stock ROM, with few apps freezed with titanium .
Freeze with titanium? What u mean by that.

Titanium can freeze an app, this stops it running on boot and consuming system resources, but as it remains installed you can always unfreeze it if you have some pressing need for the software in future
Another question, how does the interface becomes after flashing leedroid Rom? Isit still like the HTC ui?

HELP GUYS?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Hi,
The Leedroid 1.4.1 rom is pretty good actually!
Ive used it for the last few days and have to admit that its not only quick but also intregrates Facebook, twitter etc quite nicely.
The only thing I would recommend is doing a full wipe as per PhunkyCow's post for his CM7 build. (you can find this in the Android Dev part of the Desire HD section)
I believe there is a rom you can flash that Formats the /System /data etc folders and then wipe the Cache and the Dalvik cache etc.
I also calibrated the battery by doing the following: (i left the charging cable in the whole time)
Run the battery to 0%
Charge full up whilst on
Switch it off and charge for 1 hour
Switch on for 2 mins (this uses 1% of charge to boot)
Switch off again and charge for 1 hour.
WIPE the Battery stats in ClockWork mod
Because I had Clockwork Mod 2 on it would come up when charging it whilst switched off. This is ok as long as you wipe the battery stats.
Hope this helps as it took me a while to find the right rom (for now - want to use Gingerbread at some point but with Sense)
Oh and before you do this make sure you have the Radio S off as the 1.72 version of the kernel removes root access! and you dont want that!
Below taken from Leedroids FAQ :
"
•You will first need to ROOT your DHD.
•Apply Radio S-OFF/, S-OFF
•Install Clockwork Recovery: The easiest way is to root your phone as above and download Rom Manager from the Market, which has an option to install C'Work Recovery.
"
Follow all the guides and make sure its done as it will get you out of any problems that may arise!
Upgrade the radio aswell - makes a difference to the battery.
So how is the interface like after flashing the leedroid Rom?

Sorry if my questions have been asked, i did search but could not find it anywhere
Im also new with Android and wondering that if I flash one of the ROMS (revolution or Leedroid), am i able to update if HTC's new firmware comes.
There are some issues with stock ROM, e.g can not send email from exchange active sync, or problem with HTCsens.com. Do the mentioned ROMs fix the problem??
And also, after flashing the ROM, if I do the factory reset, Will my phone come back to stock Roms or the custom ones?
hey guys!
I want to install cyanogen mod 7 on my HTC Desire Z. However, i heard cyanogen mod 7 was based on android 2.3. I'm on 2.2. I'm rooted, but I was wondering if I can just install cyanogen mod 7 on 2.2 or do I have to update and if I have to update, will I have to unroot my device or can I just do it just the way my phone is now?
Thanks,

CM7 is a ROM, it'll completely overwright 2.2, which is also a ROM. This would be the same as updating a Windows XP system to Windows 8.
So, the short answer: just install.
If you're unsure how, grab ROM Manager from the Market, with that app you'll first install ClockworkMod Recovery and then install CM7.
And, as always, be sure to do a full backup incase something goes wrong.

thanks for your help, but i have another question. When i try to flash cyanogenmod, rom manager asks me to wipe cache and data. What does this do? Does it remove all my messages, whatsapp conversation and contacts? So in other words: what exactly will wiping cache and date delete/remove?
Thanks

When coming from a Froyo based ROM to a Gingerbread based ROM you need to do a full wipe which will, in effect, delete everything. Your apps will get redownloaded once you log on as will your contacts (if you have it set to sync) but to keep your messages (I'm assuming you mean SMS/MMS), download SMS Backup and Restore from the Market.
Remember, when you flash CM7, you also need to flash Gapps as Google Apps aren't included.

Oh, and once you're running CM7, you'll only need to wipe cache/dalvik when upgrading to the next CM7 release.

Please explain to me the need to do this, I have done about 50 (fifty) upgrades now, and (in between) never wiped cache or dalvik. And everything is working smoothly every time I flash, no problems whatsoever.
@timhesselmans; First read a few pages on this forum about installing a custom rom and the aftereffects it could produce. Always make a nandroid backup and back up your contacts and your messages.

Well, you're lucky then, as many people do have issues and wiping cache/dalvik fixes those issues; so, its a good habit to just go ahead and wipe those when flashing an update. It doesn't hurt anything, only takes a moment and remedies many of the issues people often run into.

I recently rooted and installed the arhd Rom and I love it. The Rom has just been updated and I am looking for some answers with regards to flashing this update.
I know the procedure is straight forward, however is there a way I can do it without losing my downloaded apps, data and the way I have configured my screens ?
I used an app to backup my stuff before but it did not store the data. Any help is appreciated.

If you are already running ARHD 6.1.x, you can flash the newest update on top of your current setup without any changes or losing data. No need to superwipe or anything. It's all based on the same base, the changes have been minor bug fixes or app updates here and there.
And just so we are clear, boot into cwm/EXT4 recovery and flash the updated ROM zip. Always a good idea to manually wipe cache and dalvik cache but it's all really straight forward.

okay i want all the experienced people on this forum to help me with this thing and i hope a lot of people would get help with this post
i am using HTC DESIRE HD on it's stock firmware that is 2.3.5 and htc sense 3.0, to start flashing a custom rom (cyanogen 7.2 as an example) i have to follow the following steps (PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG)
1) i have to root my device using the AAHK (link: http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1/?p=74)
2) then to back up my contacts i have to use SMSbackup (which is available on the android market), have a backup on the sdcard and copy it to ur device
3) now i have to download the custom rom (cyanogen 7.2) (link: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=ace)
4) now i have rooted my device and i will copy this rom in .zip format into my sdcard and go into the recovery mode by turning off the phone and then holding power and volume down button
5) i have to backup my existing rom by running a nandroid backup in the backup/restore (it's visible in the recovery mode)
6) once the back up is done i'll have to formate my sdcard and format the cache
7) then i have to select the "flash .zip file from sdcard" and i am done
please tell me if this process is alright or is there anything that i am missing
secondly is there any way through which i can save my apps?
last but not the least, if i wanna flash this kernal (http://blackice.omca.co.uk/download/...7-2WCR-TUN.zip) what do i have to do?
POINT ADDED: IF U ARE USING ANDROID 2.3.5 AND SENSE 3.0 THEN U HAVE TO DOWNGRADE TO THE PRIOR VERSION OF SENSE I.E 2.1, HOW DO I DOWNGRADE USING THE AAHK kit? PLEASE HIGHLIGHT THIS
The steps are correct. Except at step 6 you wipe all partions except SD card (called superwipe).
And your appdata will be automatically restored whenever you reinstall a app if you got your phone synced to your Google account.
And you flash the kernel as you flash a Rom but you only wipe dalvik and cache.

Which recovery do you use? And superwipe doesn't wipe ad card.
I'm not sure but try to sync all. Otherwise you could try titanium backup. Never used it but I have heard its good for saving appdata.

Titanium backup works great. It restores all non system apps and data, everything works great except (in my case Viber, it crashes and I have to re activate account after each flash).
I'd also have a question on flashing kernels. I have flashed 5-6 different ROMs but never a kernel (It is possible that these ROMS had other kernels but I'm not sure):
1) do I flash kernel BEFORE or PRIOR to new ROM? (or it doesn't matter)
2) if iI fo superwipe script from android revolution, can I then flash ROM and KERNEL one after another? (no need to wipe dalvik again)
D.

just a small note which is written on the AAHK manual and Thread but to make sure u notice it is that don't downgrade tooooooo much "I.E 2.1"
if u want to downgrade so u can root... u either let the AAHK do the downgrade for u or u do it your self either ways u musn't get lower than 2.3.3 so u wont get in kernal problems "which i once got, and god it was BAD".
good luck

They are, just read the thread, there were a few corrections.
Make sure to read the manual called 'effen manual' a few times for the hack kit.

Also, if you have your google account synced to your phone right now, it'll automatically restore contacts when you re-restore your Google account on the new ROM.
Sometimes android market/play store will automatically begin restoring apps by redownloading them (along with data) and some other things. If you prefer titanium, make sure that the play store isn't doing this by going to my apps. If your phone is running really laggy even after a minute or two after you set things up, chances are google play is redownloading all your old apps and chewing up your phone's hardware and data.

I Will Tell You My Steps >>How I Rooted My Device To Install Custom ROM<<
1) I had Downloaded free Sms BackUp And Apps BackUp from Play store.
2) Then I just Backup-ed all My Sms and Apps.
3) Then I went on my contact--> Manage Contacts --> Exported All My contacts from Google as well as from My Phone to my SD card.
4) For my safety purpose I then copied all my data from my memory card to my hard disk.
5) Then I used AAHK Tool:-
# What it did was just downgraded my Radio(Internet Required)
# Then Rooted my device-->Super CID-->BusyBox-->4EXT-->and so on...
DONE...
YOU ARE NOW READY TO INSTALL CUSTOM ROM
Hi all, I am fairly new at installing ROMs on devices so this question is quite noob.
But, I recently installed the Beanstalk 4.3 ROM on my Galaxy S3 and was wondering how to update it without wiping out my current apps and data?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You can occasionally flash the newer version over top of currently installed version (provided it's the same ROM)
Sometimes this will work flawlessly, sometimes you can run into all sorts problems. Most devs will always recommend a full wipe, this ensures any core changes they made will work correctly.
I recommend backing up your apps using a program like Titanium backup, and then restoring them after a fresh install. There is a free version on the playstore that will back up app data.
You can try to flash the new version over the old first to see if works well, but if you run into problems you will need to full wipe and do a fresh flash/install.
