We really need a single stock flash that pre-roots with CWM and the latest modem. Anyone know if this is being worked?... or if it ever will?
Doubt it its not hard to odin el30 and root it. Just more steps but elimnates what 2-3minutes top...
I'd do it myself but have no idea how to xD
Not sure a file dump would be sufficient

Can't happen at the moment (well the modem anways). They have not released a full tar for the modem yet... which is why we only have delta flashable modems...

It doesn't flash a modem... only a rom... the only way to get the el30 modem is to flash it in cwm... and to answer you fully, I consider it a rom... it doesn't contain a modem... odin the ec05 modem and then odin that rom... guess what, you're still on the ec05 modem... that's what I consider it...

EL30 Odin package sans modem. Should be good enough for now. You just need to Odin the EC05 modem, found here. Then flash this delta to update to EL30 modem, found here.
3 steps isn't that bad to get to current stock, given the fact we don't have that official .tar file.
You are in the wrong place. You should post this on Samsung's website. You can have this after Samsung relases a tar. All the money in the world won't get it here.

I got the impression from the OP that what he/she wants is a pre-rooted stock ODIN tar. Can that be done without the modem?

Yes without the modem, not a problem. Toadlife already gave us a stock tar without the modem. It would probably be easy for him to make a prerooted version.

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of prerooted EL30 (with modem) + cwm + root. But a 2 step wouldnt be bad... if all one had to do is flash the delta right after odining the rooted EL30 with CWM.

Hit up Toadlife to throw a recovery and superuser into the tar he made then put a link to the modems thread in the OP with it.

Modem is not backup by recovery, the only way now to update to the EK02 modem is when the full modem.bin is released in the update tar like the one for EG31. Once the update is released and the sprint stores get the tar, someone will post it like they did for EG31, so I'm not too worried.
ROM is up now...
I want to clarify something about this install. If we only want the modem update but we have already flashed the EG31, we need to flash this rom. That part I understand. My question is after we flash this rom and are updated, can we then flash a custom rom like yours or restore a nandroid since the modem isn't backed up by the nandroid and still be running on the newest modem but with our own custom rom? Or will we be stuck with this rom until the modem file can be extracted at a later date?

as far as i know anyone on eg31 is sol. this eko2 is an update to eg30 and therefor can only be flashed over eg30. if you have anything but eg30 you need to wait until the official update comes out and the eg30 modem can be pulled. if you have eg31 nothing you can do will allow you to load ek02. no back up even nandroid or any rom, restore nothing, sorry.
anyway to find out which modem you are on?
also what does 3KO2 actually give us?
So anyone that has flashed EG31 cannot flash anything from EK02 at the moment?

yes. Just wait till the official release/leak.
You will be able to flash once we get an offiicial tar.

Kernel or ROM, yes. Modem, no
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
You cannot flash the ek02 MODEM update. You can flash the kernel and ROM. The easiest way to do that at this point is flash Calk's EK02 rom over in the dev section. This will give you everything except the modem.
Just to be clear, you are not waiting for the OTA. The full OTA has been extracted and posted. You are waiting for the tar, which comes around the time of the OTA usually. The tar is given to the Sprint technicians and one of them usually leaks it here. The OTA modifies files, it doesn't install a new modem or system, it modifies the one you have. if you don't have the files it is attempting to modify, the update fails.
Think of the OTA as a windows update and think of the tar as the windows installation cd.
The latest update for the Epic Touch is launching today(12/7). Some people are already getting the OTA.
The first member who gets the update please post it
Thanks
That's the best news I've heard since earlier....(facepalm)
The bummer is we already have it so until there's a .tar we will still have the modem issue

Does this Unroot or brick my phone?
Will I still get the update even if I did the qbking manual update? 100% stock not rooted.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I think the bottom line is, if you have anything but stock EG30 on your phone (ROM, kernel and modem) the update will download but the install will fail. I doubt it will brick your phone as the update probably does version checks before it starts the install process.
Same goes for people with the EG31 modem. You folks will have to wait for a TAR leak.

theres no proof of that eg31 was provided by a sprint tester so that would mean his phone wouldnt take the ota either? we will just have to wait and see! but you do have to be on a stock not rooted phone and currently the only way to get back to completely stocl is with the eg31 tar

Yeah, they are pretty much over us. I read somewhere they were just trying to get paid membership from us. Appreciate what they did in the past but that relationship is over apparently. Also check their site. They never got an official released tar. Closest was EB13. We will need Samsung to release it.
OK so a new question why is Samsung reluctant to release the tar? Are they required to under like the open source license for android or are those not even related?

I believe Sprint has control over when the tar can be posted. Samsung did their open source obligation with the kernel source. Sprint are the ones that told Samsung no more over the wire releases after the EB13 debacle.

Just an FYI, installing CWM via the Auto Root package in the development sticky also would not trigger the yellow triangle.
Only flashing a kernel/recovery not signed by Samsung using regular ODIN will trigger the yellow triangle.

What are you trying to accomplish? There's a factory EG30 Tar file for Mobile Odin. It's not rooted but will get you to factory and you can update to EL29 via OTA. If you want to Odin and keep root you'll have to find a rooted ROM tar in one of sfhub's threads. At worst, you'll have to extract individual packets from the exe files or find an individual file in the resource section.

It just depends what you want to restore to. You can run an EL29 ROM with a different modem. If someone says they want to restore back to a previous version, unless they mention otherwise, I give them instructions to restore modem, kernel, and ROM.
