Stock EL29 tar - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Does anyone have a stock el29+ cwm tar so I can mobile odin back??

Depending what you want you can find it in the 1st or 2nd post:

Those are .exe files... They won't work on mobile odin right???
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium

Mobile Odin says some exe files may work. There's an EG30 factory ROM available, use that and flash EL29. Check the wiki for EG30 Odin.

Then just install the CWM kernel and you are good to go!
Fyi - If you don't like the yellow triangle on boot I'd use Mobile Odin to flash the CWM.

Just an FYI, installing CWM via the Auto Root package in the development sticky also would not trigger the yellow triangle.
Only flashing a kernel/recovery not signed by Samsung using regular ODIN will trigger the yellow triangle.

But wut if I don't have a computer and just want to use mobile odin

What are you trying to accomplish? There's a factory EG30 Tar file for Mobile Odin. It's not rooted but will get you to factory and you can update to EL29 via OTA. If you want to Odin and keep root you'll have to find a rooted ROM tar in one of sfhub's threads. At worst, you'll have to extract individual packets from the exe files or find an individual file in the resource section.

Alternatively, couldn't he just install the EL29 rogue repack with mobile odin, then restore a GB nandroid if he has one? This would keep him from having to install another rom altogether, and get him back to previous setup

Sure, if there is a nandroid backup that would be quickest to restore rom and user data. Still need to flash the modem as above.

Isn't modem completely independent of ROM and kernel though, so that wouldn't be necessary, unless he really wanted everything back to EL29?

It just depends what you want to restore to. You can run an EL29 ROM with a different modem. If someone says they want to restore back to a previous version, unless they mention otherwise, I give them instructions to restore modem, kernel, and ROM.

No go to his fe22 odin one click thread and use that to go to stock twiz. From there update prl/profile. Then you can go ahead and mobile Odin the el26 cwm kernel and ref lash to whatever rom.

I had that same problem on Frankenstein's last night. No matter what I tried they wouldn't update so I ended up going back to Calk's ROM. And I really liked Frankenstein's ROM and wish I could of stayed on it longer.

You can still flash a GB kernel even though you have a ICS ROM installed. It won't boot the phone completely(it'll freeze on the Samsung Galaxy SII screen on startup). But you can still get into recovery and download modes. That's the benefit right there. You don't need to flash all that though. Which ROM do you want to be on? The part about using Odin to go to FE22 and then go to EL26 has an extra step in it. You really don't need to flash the FE22 before going to EL26.

Ya some of them have CWM or a different custom recovery. What ROM is it that you want to install? What I mean is you don't need to flash to multiple other kernels/ROMs before eventually going to whichever ROM you want.
Go to the dev section and find sfhubs fe22 Odin one click and flash your phone with that. The reason you do this is so you will be on a stock rom where you can update prl and profile. After you do this, using Odin (with only auto reboot checked in top right corner), flash the el26 cwm kernel. Boot into recovery and from here you can flash back to Frankenstein or blazer whatever you want. You will need a computer.
So...
1. Fe22 Odin one click
2. Boot into fe22 stock rom and update prl/profile
3. Odin the el26 cwm kernel
4. Flash whatever new rom you want.

Doesn't need to be fe22, but needs to be stock touchwiz or close to so you can update prl/profile and that rom will let you do so. No problem, I'm ways here to help.

Just flash the .zip if you want to stay rooted or you can odin which sometimes loses root. All you would have to do is flash recovery then flash the .zip with root injected to recover.

So I tried to flash the stock deodexed in cwm and it installed but I was stuck at the black samsung boot up screen. Is there like a step by step method of doing this. I'm still new to the whole odin thing and dont quite understand it.
Did you Odin back to stock? Or did you flash the .zip? There was two files on that thread I linked you to. The top one was an Odin file. The bottom one was the .zip to flash.
To use Odin DL the file then unzip the .tar and Odin it.

NP man. I was switching back and forth between ICS and jb and realized it was not only messing my SD card up but I had glitches galore on my jb ROMs. I reformatted my sdcard and Odin back to stock jb and have been running jb every since. I had a hard time understanding the process of Odin then flashing the ROM that was already rooted.

mobile odin is version of odin you can use on your phone to flash tar files it is not a recovery stock roms are usually in a .tar format
Soo if I wanted tto go back to stock. Is using mobile Odin ideal? Stock meaning like no root, no rom, back to factory. I was looking at another thread. Someone was going back to stock to upgrade to jellybean, root it, nandroid, now they have a good fall back to fresh start

+1 to mobile Odin
Your issue could be one of two things (assuming you have the correct drivers) either the version of Odin you're trying to use is outdated or your usb cable/port may not be functioning properly.
Just to verify, you're powering your phone off, holding power and volume down to enter download mode and selecting the option to flash a custom binary correct?
If yes, try another cable if you have one, or another usb port on your PC to rule out those factors. The yellow com port should light up letting you know you're connected.
Also try a newer version of Odin if you're not already running it.
If all else fails, mobile Odin is definitely worth the money:thumbup::beer:

If you are going to use mobile odin then use the tar. The exe is for your computer. Thr modems can be found in rwilcos website just got to look.
