Does anyone know if there is a way to access data while on a call with the Evo 4G at this point? I would love to be able to do that..my wife has a iPhone 4 and the only thing I hate is that she's able to use her data services while on a call!! Got Dang ATT!!
Unfortunately, no. It is a limit of currently used CDMA technologies. The iPhone and other AT&T and T-Mobile are capable of simultaneous data and voice because of GSM technology.
You can use data during a call if you are using VOIP to call, or connected to 4G or W-Fi.

Unless u are on wifi or 4g then no...for now. With this rev b channel sprint may go to you will be able to! We find out in October.
The answer is yes you can access data on 4g and wifi while in a phone call

You can only talk and surf if you're on wifi or 4G, as the call and 3G radio are the same; limitation of cdma technology.
Hey guys i cant get a data connection at all in 1xrtt areas. 3g and lte is fine however 1xrtt is nothing. I tried prl and profile update as well as hands free activation. Im also rooted. No unlock. Anyone having this issue or know how to fix it
good morning everybody, i just got the Galaxy Nexus from Sprint L-700 as a gift here in Mexico. I had no problems activating it i got voice and sms to work, the only thing is that, I made the data connection work but, it only runs on 1x. The phone picks up the EVDO REV A:6 network but once it logs on to the data network it switches to 1x. I've tried just about everything, hope you guys can help me and tell what i can do to fix it, it sucks to have a phone like this just run on 1x. have a great day and thanx in advance...
Has anyone switched over to Straight Talk with this phone? I have it working on Straight talk using Verizon towers, but my 3G speeds are really slow, as in 100kbs slow but it shows the 3G symbol. Does anyone have a fix or suggestion for fixing this problem? Also, sometimes the data connection fails and it says error code 89: cannot make data call...
Hi guys;
I use Sprint Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G with a carrier named FreedomPop which uses Sprint CDMA network coverage.
I have only 500mb data per month then I try to manage it by preventing phone from using data when there is no WiFi.
The problem is whenever I disable Mobile Data amd 3G and 4G settings, the phone voice call connectivity fails too.
Would you please guide me what to do?

Have you tried holding down power for 2 seconds and disabling Data Network Mode from the power menu?

Yes. Disabling Data Network Mode only disables 3G network access.
Still if there would be no WiFi, 4G network begins working automatically.
If I manually disable 4G too, then there will be no phone service (calling or receiving calls) when I am not in WiFi access area.
Freedompop uses data to make phone calls, so disabling 3G and 4G will break that capability.

Thnx Aestivalis. I was thinking so but I still dont understand "why FreedomPop still advertise that users can talk 200 minutes per month!!"
Definitely 500mb data is not enough to talk 200 minutes (even with lowest quality VoIP voice settings). It is excluding the data required for 500 texts they promise!

The 200 minutes is separate from the 500MB data use, from what I understand.
