Best way to root or s-off your htc wildfire s a.k.a marvel
i have tested it
goto this link
unlockroot.com
follow instructions and download
works on many other htc devices too
but u need to unlock bootloader first from htcdev.com
I know it was a mistake but please don't post in the developer section anymore unless you are an actual dev because this belongs in the general section

We all do.
You might have better luck if you search the forums before posting questions that have already been answered.
OMFG.
Do people even read the other threads before starting a new one?
IMHO this thread is useless and should be deleted.
People should first SEARCH and then ASK.
XDA already has enough threads about this matter.

Have you at least tried to read the other threads/topics?
There are LOTS of people that need to root their WFS.
In order to root you need to S-OFF (turn off security in laymans terms) your phone that is something only possible (at least until now) with a hardware device called "XTC Clip".
If you Google "XTC Clip" you will find lots of info on this subject, stores selling them, etc.
Rule of thumb, first search (really take some time reading) and then ask if no other person has already posed the same question.
What you want is what most of the XDA community WFS owners want.
S-ON = Very difficult to root
S-OFF = Easy to root
(these aren't actually the meanings. But it's a simple explanation.)

I have the same phone and purchased it in Phnom Penh at សម័យថ្មីនៅជិតផ្សារធំថ្មី. The guide that you chose above is for CDMA phones and your phone is GSM. As kagevazquez said above, you must unlock your phone's bootloader first at htcdev.com, and then root the phone. Please refer to the guides below for help:
1. [TUTORIAL][S-ON] Unlock Bootloader using HTCDEV.com
2. [TUTORIAL][S-ON/S-OFF][BL UNL] PERMANENT ROOT Wildfire S
Also, please let me know what your software version is. You may want to update your software before you begin.
Also, are you rooting your phone to push Khmer Unicode font?
Let me know if you have any questions.
How huge is the risk of bricking HTC One V while unlocking bootloader?
Does it can be evaluated somehow?
For example: in SE Xperia X8 there were a "trick", that you have to look, when your phone were produced and with that information you were able to evaluate, that you will brick your phone or not...
Does it works with HTC One V?
yo dude, i've JUST sold the X8 to come to the HOV, and i can tell you the bootloader unlock is 1000x more safe, it's from HTCDEV, the only way your going to brick it is by some sort of magic or you do something stupid.
HTC supports unlocking the bootloader, you don't need to do any "unofficial" hacking
You will have no problems if you follow the steps on the HTC developer website (the forum won't let me post the link for you, google htcdev unlock bootloader)
Hi
Just follow the excelent step-by-step tutorial here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598964
Also if for some reason you need to "go back" to unrooted stock device this is also really easy

Unlocking the bootloader does not S-OFF the device, and it is not required to root your phone. You would know that if you had read countless posts on unlocking and rooting the phone
