I tryed a lot of ROMs and kernels and I can tell you that on my Desire the best rom with great battery life was Oxygen 2.3.2. with thalmus kernel 2.6.35.14_r3. I would recommend you to try that. Althoug Mildwild 2. something (I can`t remember) worked like a charm for me

I think that OXYGEN 2.3.2. uses latest thalamus kernel by "default"

I think Thalamus kernel is only compatible with Oxygen and Redux Roms.

Explain exactly what you tried and where it failed?
It might be a corrupted download, download again and flash from CWM.

What kernel is best for cm7? I'm currently on stock cm7 kernel, I just want a fast and stable kernel for everyday use.

For aosp roms I would personally recommend EViollets latest ManU test kernel 2.0.2
Don't let the fact it is a test kernel put you off, it's very stable, very quick, and good battery life.
Find it here...

(bottom of the second post).
Hope it helps.
How about tiamat and vork?
I prefer Tiamat's. I don't know, it just works better for me compared to ManU. To each his own.
ManU works great. Best for battery for me.
Kudos on using the saying correctly btw. It is "to each his own" not "each to his own" which really annoys me for some reason
How to flash the zip? Wipe dalvik and flash?

Kernels are packaged in flashable zip. So yeah flash it. Do nandbackup as usual. You don't need to wipe unless someone more knowledgeable here says otherwise.

you can use kernel cleanup script, you can fine it in the xda form "ultimate_kernel_cleaning_script_v2_by_lippol94.zip",
flash this first then flash the new kernel zip.
Reboot into recovery.
Wipe dalvik cache.
Flash new kernel.
Reboot.
Done
ManU has always been a great kernel for me, Tiamat constantly rebooted my phone.
Swyped from my CM7.1 Desire using XDA Premium App
Personally, ManU would be the kernel of choice.
Have yet to be disappointed

I've always liked the thalamus kernel and a mod 8 version I'm currently using. It works great with Redux 2 and oxygen

Indeed. Won't work with redux 1.2, cm, gingervillain, Miui or dgb though. Different camera drivers you see. So depends on the Rom

I tried several kernels (including stock, tiamat, thalamus etc) but I will have to concur - ManU-HAVS kernel has been great so far and I've been using it for a couple of months now. It's very stable and very battery efficient.

right now my kernel is the Gingertiny v2 and it drains my battery a ton.
my version on my phone is Froyo

Ok so liberated is a gingerbread sense based rom so your kernel options are pretty limited. Other than the gingerting kernel i believe there is only one othe by wildstang, but it is basicly the stock kerlel.

Hi all, i flashed my One X to CM 10.1 Nightly, but the battery drain is awfull. I tried to flash it with the franco kernel but that made my phone stuck in BOOT. I heard of a Semaphore kernel, but i cant find one for the One X only for the Nexus 4 and SIII.....any ideas anyone
Only use aosp based kernels, and kernels for JB roms......franco/faux kernels are for ICS based roms ! Not gonna work
Try XM kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136731
Yes xm kernel was the best for me in cm 10.1 roms with battery but with seadrsn rom

What does aosp based mean??
Senseless roms based on pure Google source.
aosp stands for android open source project. Mostly means that there is no HTC sense shell added
So when you are on CM10.1 you need the aosp version of the xm kernel if you wish to try that.

That will be the kernel modules or the boot.IMG you flashed.
I would suggest using the snapshot rather than nightly.
