But it's so ugly :/
Herpderp Defy.

The Samsung Captivate (unlocked) is selling for around 270 USD, which is very cheap for a smart phone. I own one and it is my main phone. has a nice processor, and XDA has a great community for it's development.
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Capti...QNJS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329019585&sr=8-1

Samsung Galaxy Y ..

First, how cheap is cheap?
Second, how much power do you need?
Third, which phone service provider are you using?
You know China mobile and China telecom have their own special 3G protocol so most phones can't do 3G on their networks. If you use one of them you'll have to buy a special phone to use with them. I'm speaking from experience on this one.
If you use China Telecom, they have HSDPA and you can use just about any phone you want.
Huawei U8800/U8800+ or U9000 is a great deal for the price. They are around 1200 RMB on taobao. You'll also be supporting Chinese product development, which increases competition, which is good for everyone. I know the U8800 has Cyanogenmod, mui, and asop. I've had one for the past 6 months and I've got no complaints. It's got good battery life and will overclock 1.8GHz. Sure it's single core and only 512Mb ram, but software always takes time to catch up to hardware so you can afford to be one step behind. If you're looking for a cheap phone with good specs, it's good deal.

[Q] Defy+ Launch Date India?

Hi guys,
do you have any info on the launch date of Defy+ in India? It's the 7th of Oct already & there's no word on Defy+'s launch in India!!
Been waiting for this phone for so long now...
May be market is kept deficient of products on purpose by all companies...who knows..buy it online from somewhere you'll grow old waiting for it
It hasn't been launched here at all, hence it isn't available online too .
When it comes to technology/gadgets it sucks big time to be in India, we gotta wait longer than European/American countries for the same thing & pay a lot more too .
PS: Anyone got any info about the launch date of Defy+ in India? Is it gonna be de-blurred here?

You should be able to get it shipped to India from a US based e-store... shipping might add a significant amount to the cost.
there will. never be the blur version in India or for India. m also waiting for defy+
Waiting for the defy+ too.
Maybe the original defy is selling too well for Motorola to launch the updated version?
Prices for the original defy haven't come down from 15k since quite some time. Sign if popularity perhaps?

"m also waiting for Defy+ to launch in India..!
I have more than enough money for the Defy+ &a 32GB SD card, the only reason I'm not buying the old Defy is because it has Android 2.2.
I'm not comfortable with flashing the device either. There are too many issues with the phone even after flashing, stock ROM seems to be a safer option.
What is getting on my nerves is that there is absolutely NO info on the Defy+'s release in India. I've scoured Google, Twitter etc for this & found diddly squat . Talk about keeping their consumers in the dark, Motorola scores a perfect 10 there.
PS: Are you sure about the de-blurred version of the phone? Was the old Defy also de-blurred?
Try Play.com, they provide free shipping round the world.
Anyways whenever the Defy+ makes it out here its probably gonna cost no less than 18k or around. I'd rather buy a Nexus S or a Galaxy S IMO.

Defy+ isn't available on Play.com & Nexus S is over Rs 25K, way out of my budget
Both galaxy S and Nexus S are available for 19.9k at Flipkart and Letsbuy.

I would have gone for the Nexus S @ 19k any day over the Defy+

Defy+ available in India on eBay!
Hey there guys,
Apparently a guy over at eBay.in has been selling the defy+ for a couple of days now. Check it out right here--> h t t p ://w w w.ebay.in/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250902503801
(Remove the spaces)
If that didn't shock you, then this surely will - it's been selling out there for a price of Rs. 21,000!!!! Simply Unbelievable!! This guy thinks, since he's the only one sellin it here, he can quote his own price! What a retard!
I have been lookin forward to buyin the defy+ for quite some time now, and was eagerly waitin for it too. But at this price? Nope. Not in a million years. Seems like I'd rather stick with all the wise folks out there that advise you to go in for the cheaper Defy, and load it with the defy+ GB ROM. You could buy the 1700 mAH battery off the shelf, and it'll still cost you waaaay lesser!
The dilemma that I've been stuck in, for quite a while now, and I hope somebody does help me out of it, is that Motorola Service in India sucks BIG TIME. This is the only reason, I've been in two minds about the defy since day one! Hardware-wise, the defy's a frickin marvel! It can beat a snapdragon processor, and then there are so many hidden features that have been unlocked at these forums! I just don't wanna be in a mess and totally without any support when I [God forbid] break my phone. 'Coz if I do, I'm doomed. It isn't like you'd get spare parts for the defy and fix it up yourself, like you could in the other countries.. Here, it's a tough task, to get a good deal on the defy itself! Let alone the unavailability of spares.
I know, I won't be able to stick to the stock froyo, and I'll eventually upgrade to either MIUI, or CM. So help me out guys! I cannot find a better deal at Rs. 14,900 [post Rs. 500 cash discount at flipkart], but the risk seems to far outweigh the pros!
I think it is better to get an official Defy+ from Moto, as it will come with valid warranty. Also, its very unlikely that Defy+ will be released in India this year, considering Moto's track record. Considering there is not much difference between Defy and Defy+, its wise to go for a cheaper Defy for now, if one cannot wait!

It has been mentioned time and again, still, at the risk of being repetitive, I'll say it - The Defy & Defy+ are absolutely identical hardware-wise!(except for the battery of course) It is just a marketing gimmick that Motorola's employing, to lure more money from people. The original defy and the defy+ both run the same TI OMAP 3630 processors. Believe me, I've looked all over the net for it, and have already spent a couple of hours on it. It is even possible to overclock the defy and achieve speeds of upto 1.3Ghz!! Motorola just offers you a bigger battery and an updated version of android for that much extra amount of money!
True, it'll be valid on warranty, if you rather buy the defy+, but tell me seriously, are you not buying the defy to later customize it and load it with MIUI or CM? Why else would you go for the defy, if you're not into rooting, and upgrading! With the pathetic service of Motorola in India, and products like SE Xperia Active, and the Samsung Galaxy Xcover on the brink of launching, why would you rather go in for the defy?!!!
When you load the Defy+'s ROM on the original Defy, it automatically recognizes the processor as being 1Ghz! What else do you need man!
This is exactly why I said, just go in for a 1700 mAh battery along with a new cheaper defy, and you'd be MUCH MUCH better off.

I found this "Motorola DEFY+ is the upgraded version of the last year's rugged droid - DEFY. It keeps almost everything the same but the chipset - it goes from TI OMAP 3610 to TI OMAP 3620. This means now you get a 1GHz single-core Cortex A8 as opposed to the 800Mhz one in the previous model but with the same PowerVR SGX530 graphics." HERE It's from GSMArena.com, a very reliable phone website.
Flashing doesn't seem to be as simple as formatting your hard drive & re-installing Windows , there's a risk of bricking your phone too. I have been reading up a lot on flashing, will definitely do that when I'm comfortable with it, so I'm not worried of timely Android updates from Motorola...till then sticking with the stock ROM.
Defy+ looks a lot better than SE Active & Samsung Galaxy XCover. Also the Defy+ has a bigger screen as compared to the other two alternatives.
Any news on the launch date anyone?

Galaxy nexus loosing value fast??

Why is the galaxy nexus loosing so much value so fast?
People pay close to 800 not even half a year ago... really??
Now you easy get one brand new, sealed for less then 500. Its actually cheaper then the galaxy s2 (year old phone) and of course way cheaper the the note.

Not a good enough argument since the gs2 has been out much, much longer than the nexus but has still retained its value and as the OP mentioned, it's still somehow more expensive than the nexus.

My galaxy nexus is TIGHTER than when I bought it. And tighter than yours.
iPhone. helping computer illiteracy become popular since 2007.
Idk but I'm glad the gnex will be my 1st nexus device due to the fact it's so affordable.ironically it's still $300 with a 2 year contract through Verizon yet for $130 more I am getting one for tmo with no contract.awesome.Plus I still have the s2 so with that and the gnex I'll have some bargaining chips if something better comes along.
I don't really see it dropping significantly anymore until its closer to the release of the next Nexus or after the SGSIII drops.
It will hover around the $400's and then probably $300's when almost at Nexus release.
It's only because of these random dailydeals that the price really started to go below $500

Precisely...That's the primary reason, on top of that the GSM variant is not available in the US. If advertising was on that of GS2, would be a different story. Check out verizons site, the nexus is not their primary focus, MOTO Droid is, while you're there, check out the retail value on the Nexus....
I think it was about a month and a half ago since I last saw a Nexy commercial for Big Red...
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/...t&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=5801
Yeah I'd probably have to agree, I just bought a clean esn verizon galaxy nexus in great condition off craigslist for $300 (I think it's still 300 on contract from verizon too). I think that most people just don't care about the fact that its a nexus and the benefits that it brings. Plus the marketing for this phone has been almost nonexistent.
Its like a car. As soon as you use it it loses value. Even if you don't it will still use value.
Plus, we all know the only piece of technology that doesn't lose value are iOS devices.

This is because it's a niche phone. It's not a phone that Samsung pushes advertising-wise, despite carrying 'Galaxy' name. Differently from Galaxy S series that Samsung carries throughout the year, most Galaxy Nexus sales come from tech-savvy early-adopters.
It's still the best phone out there for me, I've used it for months and I love it. I don't care at all how much it costs today, since I am not buying it today.
I've wanted a GSM one forever, I'm on AT&T. Just bought one for $490 ish the other day off Amazon. Hands down the best Android device and smoothest Android device I've used out of the box. I've recently had a Galaxy Note "AT&T" model,Galaxy S2 AT&T model.
I thought about getting a One X but I really don't see a need for a quad core phone currently. I only play dinky games like doodle jump, temple run etc. just so me and the 8 yr old can compete on high scores on my phone but leave the higher quality gaming to my Xbox and even tablet. Who knows I might pick up a AT&T one X come May as I have 2 upgrades due in May when it's appose to come out, than maybe sell it for a profit . I dunno never had a HTC or liked Sense. But the one X looks nice, not gonna hate or anything.
All in all the Nexus has been my most pleasant butter smooth experience on a Android so far. Touch wiz got old fast on my other devices. Vanilla ICS is king and more importantly so is a bloatfree and carrier brandingless phone! Although my lock screen still says AT&T lol.
Because there's to many phones coming out lol

thank me.. please
Because it was brought through the Gray Market and flooded the US. Negrielectronics said it's its highest seller, and they had a monopoly along with a couple of other importers. Now that everyone's importing them, price is falling way down and since the US isn't regulating it through BestBuy and such, it's crashed the value. Sucks, but that's just the way it is. Blame Google for no BestBuy launch at $560ish like the Nexus S.

Over here in the UK the galaxy SII is still the 'go-to' device. Why? Because the advertising has constantly been rammed down people throats for a year. Samsung knew what they were doing with the marketing and its worked a treat. Up until a month or two ago, the only nexus adverts were in major towns and cities. If you asked a core of average phone users to name a Samsung device, I reckon 90% would name the SII, it all comes down to marketing.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Good, let it keep going down because i will soon pick one up and i am 100% i will not pay anywhere close to $500
The main selling point for the G-Nexus was ICS. now that the GS2 and other devices are getting it the price value dropped because it's main selling point is now nfc and a big screen that is no longer the biggest with the new htc phones coming out. I don't think the price drop is because it's not a good phone it just doesn't have anyone backing it for advertising so it gets the short end of the stick.
I'm happy, I bought the nexus because its a developers phone and got it for only $430. I know its awesome and that's all that matters
Let it keep dropping. I'll buy one for the wife to replace her sgs4g. Price drop only has a negative effect if you plan to re sell later on. And even down the road I would still keep it as a good back up device.

[Q] Gnexus or SII?

Hi guys,
I sold my S2 because the screen was broken but now I'm thinking about buy another one.
My doubt is, should I buy another SII or instead go for the Gnexus?
SII - > 250€
Galaxy Nexus -> 275€
Both are new phones and I have the chance to buy for a great price.
I know many of you will say "go for Nexus 4" but it isn't coming to Portugal soon and I need a phone ASAP (nexus 4 is out of stock 4 life).
I know pros and cons of both, but they look very similar and my kind of use fits the both.
My question is, with these prices, which phone would you go?

In my opinion you should try Galaxy Nexus, like I did. I had S2 over 13 month. In short words:
Design = GNexus
Screen = Gnexus
Android = Gnexus
Louder speaker = S2
Funny fact: in Poland new Gnexus is cheaper than S2
And what about:
GPU - S2
Radio - S2
Camera - S2
Tricky decision!

S2 will not be supported a lot anymore but if you get galaxy nexus, you'll at least get the next Android. Also the development on this phone is just crazy. In my opinion, galaxy nexus is a much better phone for 25 extra pound.

Not a decision at all. 1280x720 display is infinitely better than 800 x 480.
That's true, S2 has just received its first leak of JB 2 weeks ago, I believe you guys already have it for months! And if you have a custom rom installed, and another official version comes out, you directly install it over the custom rom? Or the developer updates it to the last official version?
But development is very good in S2 foruns, very good dev's there.
And what about the size, it feels good in hand? For sms, I use T9, is easy to write?
I believe I'm getting a Nexus.

I had an S II for about 12 months then sold it and bought a GNex. My main reason was "updates" as I could not bear anymore sticking to ICS while JB and whatever comes after is probably going for GNex although both of them have the same price.
I think the S II has better hardware in CPU and GPU, but I really did not find much of a difference practically as GNex is really smooth on JB. I did not use it on ICS but seems it was not as smooth as it is now on JB, so probably it does not matter having faster CPU and GPU as long as you are able to run the latest android which is always more optimized than the previous versions thus running smoothly
I really hated TouchWiz and the Vanilla stock experience is really enjoyable for me!
Loud speakers are not an issue for me especially after installing a mod which requires root of course and can be found in the Themes and Apps section.
So I doubt you will really regret switching to a GNex especially after using the S II so a change should be welcomed
Good Luck
Btw, I saw that gnexus doesn't has toggles, is there a option to enable it? Or it exists in custom roms?
Custom ROMs

Gnex for sure. The development is much better, and the choices of custom roms is overwhelming. Definitely worth the extra money.

i had the tmobile s2 which had the s3 cpu and that phone was laggy as hell and the phone looked like crap with the resolution it has. every icon looks so damn big and ugly. playing games on it even looked like crap. the only thing the s2 has over the gnex is the micro sd card slot. i really wish i had one on my gnex. lol plus you know you will always get the last android updates with the galaxy nexus and it runs pretty damn smooth for an older phone with old hardware in it.

ok (escreve em inglês neste forum).
IMO, the Nexus is really better. I will get it in Christmas probably.
Why the Nexus wins:
-Started to be sold later and will get all the Google updates (and custom ROMs more than the SII);
-Curved screen, IMO this is an awesome design (never saw any phone like this);
-Higher resolution and screen;
-IMO the GPU is better;
Why the SII wins:
-Super AMOLED Plus screen;
-Gorilla Glass (altough reviews say that it doesn't make a difference on the Nexus;
-SD Card support;
-Camera;
Other notes:
-Same processor;
-Both have NFC;
-Nexus battery is a bit bigger, but almost the same.
The support for the Nexus should be all you need.

Those benchmark tests and antutu's kill me when I see S2 raping the Nexus, I know they might be useless, but still...

Btw, I saw that gnexus doesn't has toggles, is there a option to enable it? Or it exists in custom roms?

[Q] galaxy w battery alternatives

I couldn't find galaxy W battery in my country. Is it possible to use another model battery for it? For example Galaxy S ?
I don't want to order from another country which the shipping cost would be more than the battery price!

The battery is EB484659VU original Samsung Li-Ion Battery (1500mA)
Models it fits are Samsung i8150 Galaxy W, i8350 Omnia W, S5690 Galaxy Xcover, S8600 Wave 3 & YP-GS1 Galaxy S
Finally could found its original one.
But it's price equals with price of a new feature phone!(about 15$)

The battery is way to expensive..
check the one in my signature, 7$ free shipping from China
can't tell whether it's significantly better than stock one (cause my stock one has degraded completely) but it feels nice

But a feature phone is hardly a comparable substitute for a Galaxy W.
For safety's sake i'd always recommend buying genuine Sammy batteries - even if they do have a shorter lifespan than we all rightly expect.

i have used battery same as urs, taht china battery made my phone cannot boot.
Posible another model is Wave 3 S8600 :good:
I just ordered a Gold Battery 2450 mAh. People say that in comparison to the original model the Gold one lasts twice as long. Can't tell if it's safe, stable and everything, but 16$ is an affordable price for me.

Possibilities, possibilities..

Hey guys!
I'm considering getting a S4 mini to replace my aging HTC HD2. Right now, still in the run, are the Moto G, the S4mini, Samsung Express II and any Chinese phone I can get for 200$ free of contract. I can get the Samsungs for a very low price but the other two I'd pay full price.
I'm mostly looking for a phone with good battery life, decent screen and processor (nice GPU would be nice, though secondary: I don't do much gaming), at least 1GB of RAM and preferably a SD slot.
I'm a compulsive tinkerer and my ROM of choice is AOKP so availability of said ROM on my new phone would also be appreciated.
To be honest the S4mini is looking pretty tempting and that's why I posted here.. What do you guys think? Is there another possibility I might have overlooked? Thanks
