Dropbox is testing a beta of their auto-upload of photos and videos feature. For each 500MB of upload you get an additional 500MB of free space up to 4.5GB. See link below for details.

If you don't already have a dropbox account, I can't recommend it enough to sync data between you computer and tablet. If you're curious about signing up for dropbox, do it.
Thanks, now I have some place to upload the a100 kernel once I get it built
Is it just me or they started you off with 2gb when dropbox first came around? I used the latest beta and auto uploaded some images and didn't notice how much space I had previously but now I have 2.5gb

Apks, backups, update.zips should be fine.. the last time I uploaded any mp3s and movies though they got deleted a couple days after I uploaded them /shrug.
To qualify, you have to use the beta app and upload photos and videos you take.
I simply put my camcorder on HD, let it sit on my desk taking video of a wall, stopping and re-starting it every 10 minutes or so to break up the files.
It automatically uploaded to Dropbox and increased my storage.
Once I was up to the 5 gb max, I just deleted the videos of my office wall.
(Once you get the storage, deleting files doesn't alter it.)
The nice thing they did, they removed the file size limit. Easiest way to max out is to upload some ISOs or any DVD's you have ripped. I went from 3GB to 9GB. You can load up Windows beta, Linux Beta and the Android beta. I think it is 5 GB per OS you use, that is how I got to 6 GB, unless they shut that loophole down. They bump it 500 MB for every 500 MB you upload.

Thanks for the tip. This is what I had to do for my limit to go up. In my case though I recorded between 15 to 20 minutes of video which automatically uploaded after each was done. Prior I just tried manually uploading files I already had in my sd card but that didn't increase the size limit of my dropbox.

I tried to upload a video onto youtube from last night and I got an error saying that I can't upload a file larger then 1 GB. That's understandable and all. But when I drag and dropped the file wirelessly onto my desktop the filesize came out to be 149 MB...any ideas?
Also, if you'd like to see some disturbing tug of war that I shot check it out!

I have this prob too, I cannot figure out what the deal is. the files I'm trying to upload are no where near 1gb.......anybody got any idea?
no one else has the problem???
Hah I guess were the only ones that tried to upload a video?
i have and it worked fine, 1xxmb
I am having this issue as well.
The file is 155mb, i am trying to upload via wifi, and it is saying i can't because the file is over 1gb.
really annoying.
evo you tube upload error.
Same problem with my Evo also. Trying to upload a 200MB video results in a message "cannot upload files larger than 1GB". Then of course no upload occurs. However will upload a 50MB video. Is it stuck on the old 100MB limit with the wrong message?
I too have this problem I have a 200 mb video I'm trying to upload over WiFi and it gives me the 1GB error.
Sent telepathically from my Sprint EVO.
Too many stupid restrictions on use!

I'm having the same issue - anything over 100 mb gives me the 1 gig limit error... Are you guys rooted?
Is this a global issue, or just with those of us that rooted? I know its most likely a noob question showing off how little I understand about the rooting process - but maybe not?
Any fixes out there?
havent been able to test this myself but I'm wondering.... maybe it's a 1Gb limit not 1GB? (1Gb = 125MB)
I wonder if you'll find the actual limit near 125MB or 119.2MB (119.2 would be the base 2 MB conversion from a base 10 Gb)
No that's not it. I tried to upload a video that's about 93mb and got the same error get in was able to upload a 200 plus mb video.
*BUMP*
I'm having the same problem right now. Trying to upload a 382 mb file and it keeps telling me I can't upload a video over a GB. I know my files big, but its nowhere near a gig!!! I tried uploading off the website, and the mobile website, but to no avail. My browser closes on me every time. I tried reloading my SD card. I even tried rebooting my phone!!! I read somewhere that pixelpipe works better, but I can't find a way to link it to my YouTube, or name the video, or anything!
Apparently this is a bug in Android, and should be fixed in Gingerbread, which is a small consolation...

Keywords I searched for didnt end up with the answer. If there is a thread regarding my question (which i do believe there is, but havent found), do point it out.
Since getting my galaxy nexus, ive been using it like crazy and I am do not have enough storage anymore or at least barely.
Considering majority of the space is taken due to apps, is there any I can do other than uninstalling? Im curious how you guys handle the limited storage of the galaxy nexus.

You should have more than 13GB worth of storage. I don't think the majority of this space can be taken up by apps.
I keep a few photo's, some music, a movie to watch at work and a couple of nandriods and still have 7GB of free space.
I do a weekly clean out and save stuff I'm not going to use to PC
@Kaze I suggest doing what the person above has said. Erase all nandroids except your stock.. I know for me thats what takes up the most room. Lol. I have a 32gb Gnex but I had a maguro for a while back and didn't fill it up. .......
Other suggestions: Dropbox, Box, Google drive. All those are free clouds. I have 5gb on each. Thats another 15gb for u. Sign up. They all work great!

Yes, I can't imagine the majority of 13G being used by apps-- unless you have a thousand apps installed.
Check out "storage" under the settings-- I think it breaks down storage use by apps, audio, video, etc. That'll at least give you a place to start. Note that here, "Apps" also includes data that the apps have downloaded. If you go to Applications under settings and check out each App, it should be able to tell you how much storage space it's using.
Google Music could be a culprit if you have a lot of music pinned-- again, you would have to be a lot, but I know people with hundreds of gigabytes of music, so this less unlikely.
I have pretty much all gameloft games and each seems to take around 500-800 MB of space. (not all obviously) A few other games also take up a couple hundred MB.
I also have only 1 stock nandroid backup.
From reading, seems like I dont have much of a choice but to delete them. I was hoping there could have been a way to use the cloud storage or something.
In my experience. Be ruthless. Download all apps, nandroids, images you never look at and music you don't listen to, to a PC. Chances are you won't miss them not being on your nexus. Its surprising what you might class as 'useful' but find you never use.

Hello users.
Before I bought the s3 I had the HTC one s. Now I had always used dropbox before this and only a few gigs. I never found any REAL use for it. When I purchased the one S I was given 20gb of space I thought I would have a no problem with space. I only found use for it for the auto cam-upload because I would just delete pics and vids on my phones storage. On the s3 I was given an extra 50gb of space so I have a whopping total of 75gb now with only like 6gb worth of pics in there.
My question is how do you guys use dropbox? I share files and stuff with a friend but I feel like dropbox is just good for this: Pics/vids/file-sharing.
I figured now I can save maybe my nandroid backups and not worry about even having them in my pc. Is this a good idea?
Note: I have about 6-7 gb of internal space and about 6-7gb left on my sd. I don't want to exceed that.
I have the same (btw one s gave you 23gb free and Samsung galaxy s 3 50gb and is only good for two years)
I use it for backups specially for titanium backups, but unless you have tons of videos or rims to upload you probably won't use it much, but still great cloud backup

I upload my nightly builds of CM10 fir my Nook Color to my dropbox. In addition to auto pic upload, it's filling up fast. Wish I can get free for life.

I also use this. But as I don't trust google+ and dont use it often. I also use the auto camera upload on dropbox.
I use it to store .apk files, wallpaper, pc files that my non-geek friends will need at some point... havent used much space but its easy to use for installing .apk files that i download here and there.
For me sometimes when I flash a Rom the drivers for my device may now work.. drop box is a great way to not only transfer music pics .apk files etc.. but when I was stuck... I was actually able to put a new Rom on my root via drop box... but I'm still waiting for my 50 gigs!

I use mine to share pics and vids of my babyboy to my parents.

I have 3 uses no one mentioned, they are all related to security:
1. I have an encrypted KeePass database of all the passwords and user names stored in dropbox.
2. I have a Truecrypt container inside dropbox for storage of confidential information.
3. I have my home security cameras record their pictures into dropbox so even if the security cameras and drive is destroyed I still have a backup. This also lets me check the cameras from my phone.

How can I get the 50 gigs out space on drop box through my S3? I haven't seen anything prompting me to accept the increased disk space on there.

Dropbox space fix
For all of those having issues with getting your extra 48GB from Samsung for purchasing the S3 ... keep reading!!!
First of all. You must launch Dropbox from the stock pre-installed Samsung rom.
If you flashed a custom rom(like I did) and installed Dropbox from GooglePlay you will not get the bonus.
So what I did is flashed my Nandroid backup I had(which everybody should have) then launched the pre-installed Dropbox app and signed in with my pre-existing Dropbox account.. and right away got the email confirming my extra space.
You also have to complete 5 of the 7 tasks indicated on the main page in order to receive the Samsung bonus. The steps needed to complete that should be on the Dropbox site.
Hope this will help somebody out there
Cheer!
Marc
Wondering why the gallery eats up so much data in the background? Everytime I load a new rom it sucks up gigs worth of data. When I first got the phone, it sucked up my then 2gig limit. Looking at it now, it took 6.6gigs!
My first guess would be picassa/Google+ picture Gallery download or something?
Not sure how it works, but I'm sure it downloads pictures/videos onto your phone, right?
Maybe that's why?
I do have it auto upload. Hmmm. Thinking about it now... Maybe Google plus uploads the full sized pics? And ... Videos!
But it happens every fresh ROM install. I don't take many pics or videos...and I don't think the app 'downloads' the photos. I know I don't take 6gigs worth within a weeks time... Good thing I signed up for unlimited!
I am pretty sure there is an option in both G+ and Twitter (I don't used FB) that asks if you want to upload your pics. I just freshly flashed a ROM last night and when I restored both those they asked. I said....NO!!!

Yeah there is, but it should only upload new pics that are taken after the install. I don't see any duplicates on G+. Plus I g a notification after every pic that gets uploaded. So, don't know why I got 6+ gigs worth uploaded in a week.
Recently I installed CM13.1 on my Zenfone 2. Since then something has taken up around 20GB of space, so I only have around 5GB of space to use. I keep looking for things to delete in my file manager, but their simply is nothing taking up that much space. In the storage settings page it shows 4GB of apps, 1.2 GB of photos, and everything else adds up to less than half a Gig. I do remember creating a backup of my old OS, (I think through TWRP, although I can't remember for sure.) Does anyone know what could be taking up that space? Or how I could find it and delete it?
Windirstat, for Windows ..mount phone as drive n scan.Or,
DiskUsage app from store
Thanks for the App suggestion. Turns out I had 22Gigs of modem crash logs that kept growing pretty quickly!
