[Q] what is the best rom for music? - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

okay, so i have a htc wildfire and a 16gb sd card, but lately my rooted htc died and i bought an iphone, a few months later i decided to return my phone to the store because it was still on warrenty, and now i have my phone back ffully functioning for free, but my iphone 4s is waaaaaaaaaaay better, no doubt, so now my htc is just laying around, doing nothing, so today i decded that i want tto make it my music player, but its way too slow ... even overclocked at 7xx mhz ( dont remember the excact number anymore, rooted it aggain like 1 month ago) so now my question is, what would be the best rom for me? i only need speed and music, thx for your time.

Why not sell it or trade it for an ipod to accompany your iphone?
A wildfire is never going to be able to compete speedwise with an iPhone 4s + if I was on the other side of the fence and didn't love androids openness so much that's what I'd do.........

Lol..... love it......... apparently thats the fastest!

cyanogenmod 7 is very fast and stable and the music app is very fast

We know and splashmod is cm7 so basically the same Rom.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium

Flash CM7. And delete all useless system apps. If you want to use Buzz only for music you can delete all phone, sms, calendar, etc. apps. I sugest you to stay only with music, browser, launcher and wi-fi apps (if you not going to use SIMcard)
Look for that in cm wiki/Barebones.

Rempuzzle 2.42
rempuzzle is probably one of the fastest sense roms and now with an addon package in 2.42 called xloud it improves sound quality and increases volume (beware DONT put on max or it will break your phone speakers)
Finished

Just use PowerAmp, he is the best player!

[Q] Before I buy a HTC Desire HD - Clean Custom Rom?

Hi,
I am in the fortunate situation that I can pick out any cell phone that I Want. The Phone I have as of today is a HTC Desire.
Before I choose out a phone I wonder if there are any Custom ROM that can compare with the "clean, smooth and fast" Oxygen Room by AdamG for Desire HD?
the Desire HD is the Desire much improved, but we don't have anything as clean as the oxygen rom in development yet, best you can do is CM6
i'm on the official sense rooted + buzz kernel 1.0.6 and its running like a dream
What is the big improvement? "Start-up from hibernating" ?
Isnt the big improvements software-wise, and not hardware?
4.3 inch screen very close to the surface, despite not being either IPS or Amoled but its just beautiful, simply use a classic desire after the DHD and you will understand
much better soft keys instead of hard to press hard keys
beautiful unibody design
50% more RAM
more efficient 2nd gen snapdragon, OCable to 1.5GHz
internal storage problem gone for good, you have around 1GB free internaly, you dont see a mention of A2SD or Data2sd around here
a GPU that can handle 800x480 games at last, runs quake2 at 60fps makes a laugh out of the old one
Genuine Four Point Multi-touch sensor, you will never loose a reckless racing match because the touch gone crazy and you wont have to explain it to your friends
better camera and flash, check here Desire HD Camera guide
all you need to do is make sure you can handle the size plus weight, also make sure the unit you purchase is clean of factory defects, more info here Compilation of DHD ISSUES
as for the battery, custom kernels and calibration will solve that for you
more info here Would you buy Desire or Desire HD?
any other question and it will be like asking me to buy it for your just kidding
good luck

Hi,
thank you for your reply
I have tried out a HD, but only with HTC Official Rom - and that ROM is lagging!
Great screen, yes ;-)
What do you mean about the problem with internal storage? Is the install location = SD as default, or is the internal storage expanded?
You may want to consider the battery before you buy, I tried every mod/kernel/custom rom/ 2g ect ect and the battery is terrible..1250mah is the reason why not matter how you look at it...When your out all day and some of the night without a charger then the phone becomes useless..
The main reason I sold mine, if that doesn't bother you then its a great phone..
Hd recording is pretty bad too, it becomes worse when compared to the SGS...a big difference..

Rooting the phone and installing the buzz kernel will eliminate lag in the stock rom. It will also improve battery life.
Internal storage is 1.5gb, which leaves about 1gb for apps, rest if for the rom.
If after the new kernel you find it still too slow you can try cyanogen mod. Its very fast and stable although battery life is a little less than stock rom for some people.
Sent with Christmas cheer.
the official rom lags because of the stupid /init bug, easily solved by enabling usb debugging mode check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826507
as an added speed i'm running Buzz kernel v1.0.6 with interactive governor and it never lags even if i try check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=880573
HD recording is not bad as long as you learn how to adjust the settings, you can check the info in my camera guide
as for storage i meant with the classic desire you have very little 150MB internal storage, you have around 1GB with the DHD

Its not in the same league as the SGS...that goes for sound quality too..having had both phones and comparing them there is a big difference.

Need some advice PLEASE

Hey guys.. I've been a One X owner for a while now.. About a month or two. So far I've unlocked my bootloader and flashed ARHD 6.0.0 but im still sort of unhappy about how it works. Multitasking is still horrible and i know that's how its designed by HTC but I am a heavy multitasker and i cant handle that, plus my data limit is 1GB and constantly redrawing webpages on chrome eats my data.
So now im wondering what my options are... If I should leave sense 4.0 out completely. Update to ARHD 7..go CM9... Try Pokemon rom. Idk.
The issues I need sorted out are
1. Multitasking fixed
2. Camera noise/compression MUCH reduced (also the front cam is horrible compared to the S3, if that can be fixed)
3. Battery life. Recently I have no idea why I cant get more than 2-3 hours screen time during the day.. When using the came I barely get 2 hours. This is VERY inconvenient.
4. I prefer the stock ICS switcher. Not HTC's. Not a huge issue though.
So from you guys experiences, whats the best rom to go with? The MOST important thing is the multitasking and battery. Why I haven't been trying roms myself is because I am very very scared to flash again...
Thanks in advance for any input.. Ive done all the searching I can but id really like some advice.. System tuners memory values doesn't do it for me..
Thanks again!

Why ? Desire HD's battery life is awful. And I felt or somewhat weird in my hand and that was the primary reason that I stopped using it. And I have big hands with which I use a 5" phone comfortably.
Frankly I have never used One V. So I can't tell how it feels in the hand with that curve on the end. But as I read from the forums,One V is probably faster than DHD.
I think you should buy a phone that is newer in the market as it will have more support from the manufacturer as well as the dev community.
Now I'm not saying DHD is not a good phone, its definitely better looking and still has a very good dev support. But DHD has better RAM I guess which gives it an advantage.
End decision is upto you. Hope for the best good luck

Just becoz of RAM, Screen and Camera Im planning.
Bt the battery life is disappointing me a lot. One V has a best battery life i ever experienced in any Android Phone .
Btw the main reason is like it games like TempleRun Lags a lot. Is this problem go after rooting the phone? My phone is not rooted.
I just want atleast games like TempleRun to run smooth, everytime before turning it on o have to clear RAM in task manager. That's y I find the phone slow sometimes els no Problem. one V is an awesome phone

Temple run hangs on Desire HD too !!! tried it and it is disappointing playing on it....it works well even on micromax which sucks.
I have read that with a custom kernel you can overclock it to 1.7 GHz which is sufficient to do almost anything ......but overclocking to 1.2-1.4 GHz would be safe and you will easily run your games without lag i'm sure
A Sense based ROM with GPU rendering and a good custom kernel will make your games run smooth and fast without trouble
What i would suggest it, you root your phone...and see if it works properly. If not you can revert back and exchange it even then. I'll help you with rooting if you need help. I consider that rooting is always a better option, i recently rooted my sensation xe...before i had benchmark scores of 5200 and now its 7000. So i guess it would help a great deal
[EDIT] I checked, both have same GPU and same processor, so if it hangs on this, it will hang on that too
Thanks, plan dropped.
I'm not rooting the phone on scare becoz it voids Warranty .
Btw i can safely unroot the phone in future if i get any problem?

People still on Dinc? What rom are YOU using?

I'm not asking for advice just want to see what people are up to with the phone. Details welcomed.
I am still a dinc user running this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020866&nocache=1
It's a JB (4.1.1) runs great has all the JB features and more cool add ons to it.
Still my main phone, and i will continue to use it till it dies. I use my Gb based rom TOB, you can find the link in my sig. I see no reason to get a new phone, when its basicly the same thing i have now with a faster processor. And i dont really play games on my phone, so processor speed isnt a huge selling point for me.
I'm with lusco I won't upgrade till my phone is dead. I've almost made it 3 years on this phone (4/29). I think she can gimme 3 more. Rom
Touchwiz 5.1.4 ICS 4.04. I have a nice stash of roms on my dropbox to avoid dead links if I need a switch

Either phone will probably be locked by Verizon meaning there will be a dev phone at full price with no upgrade option. I think the note 2 on Verizon is already that way.

Rom- Inc Deck Gingerbread (variant of CM 7)
Kernel- Incredikernel
My main phone... my only phone...
The Rom is exact same thing I've been running for over a year now... still love it... I haven't found anything that gives as good all-around experience. I've been hoping that the few remaining kinks get worked out of the Jelly Bean ROMs for the Dinc. But I'm probably gonna be getting a new phone next month, so I might as well quit reading the threads for those ROMs (like I am today). Not that there is anything wrong with Dinc, but I'll save over $40 per month once I switch to T-Mobile. So I'll be having to settle for a new Nexus 4 when that happens. The savings in monthly bills will pay for the Nexus 4 in 9 months. By the end of 12 months... I'll be about $120 dollars ahead by retiring the Dinc, and the savings will just continue. That's just for me...my wife has already made the switch (savings X2).
The Dinc will still get used for various things... so it will be a "working reitirement" for the Dinc.
Using CM10,1(JB 4.21). Works well aside from a couple of bugs that are not show stoppers.

I love the dinc. Still use it. I switch roms quite often, to try new things. For the most part I've been sticking with Cyanogenmod 7. Best all around experience.

PowerAmp from the play store is wonderful and does that as one of its features I totally reccomend it of the MIUI player!
This was my first smartphone, and I still remember when i got it. I don't have my Dinc anymore but it was great while it lasted. I ran it all stock
I'm still using my dinc; I'm running Tiny's 10.1 with only a couple bugs besides the known videocamera stuff.
(for instance, I can't send MMS, which has something to do with the APN settings according to a thread on the Q&A forum. I'm on the verge of fixing it, I think, but am not sure yet).

Using Tiny's CM 10.1 - excellent rom.
I bought this phone refurbished on eBay and I love it! It's well built and is a perfect size. I use tinys cm10.1 build and it is just as fast as any gb build I have tried especially with ram manager and one power guard with smart assv2 governor. I highly recommend it.
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda app-developers app
I had been running the official CyanogenMod 7.2 nightlies, but when the nightly changes slowed down over the past three weeks, I decided to switch to the bleeding-edge CyanogenMod 10.1 nightlies compiled by Pons, and then picked up by tiny.
I could give up the video capture, and the still camera app bug was "fixed" by using the "Camera ICS" app. I haven't tested the MMS capabilities yet, but I end up using email so much more often than MMS anymore, I don't think I'll miss it.
My hesitation about upgrading phones is more about "not wanting to lose the unlimited data that I'm not actually using anyway". I'll probably keep the Inc around as a music and video player even after I upgrade.
I've been crack flashing like crazy lately. I want to stick with 10.1 but not being able to reliably video record my kids' silly antics keeps me switching back to GB roms. Sense, 7.2, etc. Went back to miui recently, I forgot how smooth it runs. Btw, regarding Poweramp, how do you enable track skipping via volume long-press? I must be missing something.
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
I am still using the DInc as my daily driver and I use Albinoman's JB rom. It has similar JB issues (video camera/camera) It does get laggy at points during the day when I have music (play store) streaming and browsing reddit over 3G on the bus. But works great otherwise. I use Google Voice for texts so I never had MMS (don't know what I am missing) and use email and G+ for picture sharing.

[Q] hTC Desire or hTC One V - that is a question

I'm proud owner of both hTC Desire and hTC One V. I rooted and s-offed Desire some time ago, tried variety of ROMs and currently using it as daily driver with Evervolvs KitKat nightly installed.
I bought HOV as a replacement for my old Desire and was badly suprised when HOV started to lag. Placing a call or starting an SMS sometimes takes up to 2 minutes. Using it on daily basis is near to imposible. I didn't think of rooting HOV since I still have warranty. Now I changed my mind, which brings me to my question.
Should I go with that and root, etc. , or should I stick with Desire, which currently works more fluid than HOV? Will HOV get that much better with custom ROM, or should I just sell it and forget it? Any opinion is appreciated. Thanks.

The problem with the One V is ram. You can be using something like slim bean completely stripped down to the bare minimum of system applications and data apps and it still fails on you. Just use the stock browser on one or two pages and the entire device will freeze up requiring a reboot. Horrible. In truth we need a way to move many apps out of the system partition to either true sd or at the very least to the data partition. And I do not suggest anyone purchase virgin mobiles version of the htc desire unless you want the same issues again. Best off buying something else.

A2SD works. Expand RAM works for me. I've got 2GB of RAM now(32GB SD+64GB HDD disc connected to One V).
