I was upgrading my SD card copied the fakeflash/clockworkmod update.zip onto my new sd card along with my new rom then put it in the phone and tried to boot into recovery.
I get the standard menu chose bootloader then chose recovery as I have done many times before. But instead of getting the black screen with the triangle with the ! symbol in it it just stayed on the white screen with the HTC logo.
Odd fair enough I did a battery pull and then tried to boot normally but got exactly the same thing.
Ok that's strange put my old SD card back in, but no joy cant boot normally and cant get into recovery.
Is there anything I can do or have I just lost my phone for good?
You just need to put a sd card in the phone (a sd card which u are going to use permanently)you dont need to copy anything to sd card apart from rom and radio before u flash it, reinstall your rom + radio and things should be ok, happened with me when i got a new sd card.
Seems VERY similar to a problem i had. Instead of HTC logo though - mine was on o2 splash screen as it is branded.
Have a look at my thread -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=776120
.....it was solved at the end.
If you are going down this route, be aware though you will want an unbranded RUU file and you will lose everything on the phone!
But a wiped working phone is better than a full non-working one!
Good luck
UPDATE: I restored again and it booted this time. Whew!!!!
Hey guys,
I've got a problem. I've had the Evo since the day it came out and I've never messed something up this bad. I wanted to start using app2sd so I partitioned my SD card after backing everything up to my PC. Now no matter what I do the phone just hangs at the splash screen. I mounted the SD in clockwork and loaded the latest nandroid back to the SD card and restored it and it still hangs.
Did I totally screw myself?
hey guys,
I turned my phone on today and when it booted up it didn't have apps i had installed and came with the error selected app not installed blah blah blah.... i thought well ah man f**k this i'll just restart and this s*** will be sorted, but no nothing it seemed even worse in fact..... i thought alright take the sd out and blow it around nothing! infact it made it worse! it wouldn't even boot any more it got to the point where it would just like load the custom boot screen and loop that repeatedly. i've tried many diffrent roms and nothing! i mean some would boot (but without apps working etc etc...) and some wouldn't at all (i found these often would if i removed the card) , i left them all for a good 15 mins and still nothing... please help just as i started finding this phone cool again it breaks
TL;DR:
phone won't boot at present when it does boot with certain roms apps are there
EDIT: oh and i've tried another sd card to no luck
may be there is some issue with your sd card partition. what you can do is, backup the file from your SD card to your pc, format it, create partition (fat32, ext3 & swap), copy back the backedup files to SD card, put it in the mobile, go in recovery mode and to restore. hope this solves your issue.
i've tried all of that with no luck
I was running skyraider 4.2 and everything was perfect. My brother in law convinced me to try nils gingersense. I made a nand first then flashed it. Everything worked fine except it nils gingersense ran slow and kind of choppy on my phone. I decided to go back to skyraider. I made another nand of nils gingersense first. I booted into recovery ran the nand and once it finished I immediately tried restoring my previous skyraider 4.3 nand which appeared to be successful. Once that finished I used the option to reboot in recovery. It started to reboot, showed my splash screen then just went to a black screen buzzed five times followed by the blinking green led. It did that every time I rebooted no matter what I tried. Finally I tried flashing the stock image and figured stock was better than a brick. This time different splash screen same result. I did some searching and found that if you plugged your phone in to the charger when the splash screen came on it would actually boot on. I tried this and was successful in getting the phone to turn on. Now the phone is back to stock and working but my SD card will not recognize on the phone (pulled it out and it works perfectly on my wife phone) and I also noticed that the 8 gb's of internal storage is also unrecognized by the phone. I am also unable to get into recovery. It shows a picture of a phone with like two green arrows making a circle and just sits there.
Any advice would be appreciated. I would like to be able to flash back to my previous skyraider nand but I would settle for a working SD card and internal memory. Thank you for any help in advance.
I could really use some help here guys. anyone?
Have you tried copying everything on your SD card to your computer and reformatting the card making sure its in FAT32 format, then copying everything back on to the card?
If not give that a try...
I haven't tried that yet but I Will. Still confused why my phone won't even read my phones internal storage also.
I would also do a factory rest and wipe your dalvik cache and what not. Worth a try.
I can't wipe the dalvic cache because that is done from recovery correct? My phone won't go into recovery without the SD card. I will try to reformat the SD card and see if that helps. I installed my wife working SD card and my phone won't recognize it either but her phone recognizes her SD card and mine fine.
Sounds like your on the stock recovery still (phone with green arrows). You need to format your sd fat32 with your pc, and then flash clockwork recovery thru hboot. You are still s-off right? And then from in recovery wipe everything in mounts and storage including emmc and sdcard, and then flash what ever rom you want.

I flashed the stock image and I believe it says s-on now. I can't get into recovery at all to flash anything. I will reformat my memory card but after that I am at a loss since my phone doesn't recognize my memory card or my internal memory at all.
If your S-On you are going to have to root your phone again first before flashing anything.

If you are s-on you will have to use unrevoked to get s-off and root again.
That is the second time in 2 days i have seen someone say they flashed a rom and somehow lost s-off doing so. The said the same black screen and 5 vibrates happened to them too. Something strange is going on with something, you should not be able to loose s-off by flashing a rom.

awesome, thank you very much. i will try this and see if it works. You guys are the best!
ok i have a fix for you that I know works, as i had this issue 2 months ago, and have a fully functioning phone now, you will notice your phone doesnt see the internal memory, or the sd card, the phone is also not detected via the usb cable. if you take the sd card out and test it in the computer it will be inaccesible, dont worry though your sd card is ok, and the data is still on it.
follow this thread/walkthrough, as it is the one that i used.

wow lots of responses while i was typing,
Hey I just recently flashed to the latest Solar Flare v.5. My phone loaded it fine and booted up equally smooth however once it gets through the setup it begins saying "SD card safe to remove". I have tried remountig in settings however it just unmounts itself again. I've redownloaded the ROM and reflashed twice. Also I have reformatted my SD card in recovery and upgraded from ext2 to ext3. Any idea whats causing this? Ive had root for a few years now however I'm still an amateur when it comes to this stuff

Ok,try shutting off your phone, take your sd card out and then replace it,it could be that maybe you could have bumped your phone and jolted the sd card.Try that and see what happens,if it doesnt work,we will try something different.

That was another thing I had tried last night. It is still doing it. Every thing else on the ROM seems to work fine. It just keeps unmounting the card

Okay nevermind for now. I decided I was going to switch to new recovery and try that. But I hit the wrong button and ended up just rebooting for like the 10th time and it works for now. If the problem pops up again I'll probably try the new recovery and see if it helps.
Thanks though!
