This guys sold me a G2 with CM7 on it and no partitioned sdcard. i need to factory reset to remove his user data so i can sign into my google account. and remove his. would there be a safer way recommended?
Everytime i turn the phone on it says google sign in error in the notifactions(for his account). but i cant remove it because its the main account on the phone.
Do a factory reset. You can do it through the recovery screen:
Hold power button:
Select Reboot
Select Recovery
Scroll to factory reset/data wipe (something like that) using the volume up/down buttons. Select using trackpad.
Should be all set when you reboot the phone.
thanks for your help. It worked without a hitch. -button-
Hi guys.. I have a 2GB sd.. soon, i will buy 8gb sd, then gonna format it to fat. if i transfer all my files from 2gb sd to 8gb sd, does it will become okay? and does my installed applications will work properly? or im gonna factory reset it?
Note: You have only 1 day to answer my question.. hope you will
It should. Just copy paste everything (all app files must be there) to your new SD and it should be the same as before.

just open your comp.
1. copy everything on the sd.
2. then inssert the new sd on your device and format it
3. **formaatting on comps will not guarantee the stability so do it on your phone
4. then just copy everything from the old to the new one.
**EVEN if you had apps on the SD card, it will still be transferred.
most apps installed on the sd are located @ mount/sdcard/data/<here> or mount/sdcard/Android/data/<here>
Tnx to all of you.

Sent from my GT-S5360
download the link which i hav posted earlier then it to copy to sd not in any folder
power off your phone
1. reboot in recovery by powering down, then
power back on holding vol up, vol down, and
power at the same time. This will boot you into
stock recovery.
2. using volume down, highlight 'apply
sdcard:update.zip' and select by using the menu
button (or where it would be).
3. you should now be in cwm recovery. Depending
on which one you are using, the text will either be
red or cyan in color. highlight 'backup/restore'
using volume keys and select with POWER button.
4. select backup
The back up will start, and will take around 5-10
minutes to complete (depending on how much
stuff you have in /data)
5. Once it is done, it will go back to the main cwm
menu. Select 'reboot phone now' with power
button.
now your backup is copied to clockworkmod folder in sd
take care about minimum space free is 500mb either it shouldnt complete
do same in restore at last highlight restore then it should take time
hey press thanks

Ok. Here's my question.
I've already created back up on skin 1980. Soon. I will change my rom. If i don't like the rom, i will restore the nandroid backup. Should the data of the apps installed in my sd card and backed up on my nandroid backup must be on sd card?

Pls take rest of the questions to the FAQ thread... I have already allowed this thread for sometime now.
So, I was planning on editing my system files to remap home to camera and turn off the capacitive buttons. I just wanted to know if a full wipe or format system will reset the keys back to normal. If not, do I have to manually edit the keys back to rest them

Back up the file you have to edit on the sd card. Put it back to undo your changes. Could always reflash Ur rom or restore a nandroid as well

Cool thanks, so flashing a ROM resets the files?
Ya cuz flashing a Rom replaces the whole system
Performing a Hard Reset on your device is simple as pie. The difference between a Factory Reset and a Hard Reset is:
Factory Reset
The 'lighter' of the two reset options. It can be done either in settings or via recovery menu. It wipes all user data and firmware settings but leaves the contents of your internal SD Card intact.
Hard Reset
Restores a smartphone to its basic factory settings, which erases all applications that were installed by the user as well as all user data. Hard Reset wipes everything including the contents of your internal SD Card. Whatever firmware you last flashed will be the firmware you get back, but everything else will be wiped.
Clear? Ok, let's proceed with the Hard Reset for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
Turn your phone off.
With the phone off, press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key. You'll see the Android recovery screen.
Scroll to Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the Volume Up or Down keys. Select with the power key.
Scroll down to Yes, Delete User Data and select it.
Back on the first screen, scroll down to Wipe Cache Partition and select it.
Your factory reset is now complete.
Go to Reboot System Now to restart the phone.

Well not to rain on your parade but they are one and the same. Also most users here have a custom recovery which replaces what you are saying. Volume up + home + power gets you into recovery menu which almost everyone here has a custom version (philz, clockwork mod, or twrp) making your directions useless.
Not that I am trying to knock what you are saying. Only that I am stating both things you state are one and the same. Also very few if any are using a stock recovery.

Hi I think I may have triggered accidentally by long pressing the Power & Volume buttons, a Recovery and Wipe of Apps and Personal Files.
On starting the OP5T, it is like a Factory Reset with all accounts, apps, files deleted.
Is it possible to recover the files from the Memory? I have already tried Dr Fone but this only sees the files I can see using Windows Explorer. I need to go deeper in the hope that the files are still in the memory of the device.
There are no Backups to recover.
Urgently need help because I cannot use the phone, hoping I can recover files before reinstalling all the apps and potentially over-writing the memory of the files I want to recover.
Thanks in advance!!
Guess no reply means no :crying:
