custom roms have. such as AOKP

Yup
LTE EX Galaxy Nexus - 4.0.3 AOSP
Asus Transformer - Revolver OC/UV

volume wake
Looking for any updates on this topic
What Gnex GSM ROMs implemented this feature
i tired widgetlocker, but the feature "Easy Wake Mode/any hardware button to wake" doesn't seem to work on Galaxy Nexus unless i'm forgetting or not seeing something, seems like i went through and tried all the options of widgetlocker-but no response to volume keys when device is sleeping.
please point me into a right directions about volume wake
is there a possibility to cook a volume wake mod for other ROMs
Thank you in advance.
( Currently running stock kernel+ARHD 2.1.5 )

Pretty much any/all AOSP based roms have implemented it (4.0.3). The only AOSP rom I can think of that currently does not have it is BAMF, but IIRC it will be in the next version.
Shortlist I can think of:
CM9
Liquid
Gummy Nex
AOKP
Many others...close your eyes, throw a dart, and chances are you'll hit a rom that has it.

Disable Volume Buttons Wake-Up?

Hey guys. I haven't been able to find any information regarding modifying the functionality of the hard buttons on the GNex, all my searches just turn up mods to the soft buttons. On my phone, the two volume buttons on the left wake up the screen. I would like to disable this, since the buttons are fairly well placed to cause lots of accidental and in-pocket presses. Its well documented that the screen is the single most battery-intensive hardware component on this device, plus I generally like to keep my lockscreen disabled.
I know similar mods exist for other devices, since I had one for my old phone (the DroidX), and I found one for the Galaxy S II
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1086526
I will be hunting for the files that control this, but figured I could potentially speed up my search with a point in the right direction. Will look into it once I get my SSH and rsync stuff up and running.
While writing this post I DID find this:
http://source.android.com/tech/input/key-layout-files.html
Looks like it may not be too tough to parse out what can and cannot be modified on the Gnex
What ROM are you on? I am sure you can just ask the rom dev to give you a zip file to disable it.. does it do this on stock? I haven't had stock in so long but I don't believe it does..
How To Disable Volume Wake
I'm having the same problem, I flashed "Rooted,De-odexed,Zip-aligned ROM With Stock Insecure Boot Image And New Radios & Bootloader" to get to 4.0.4 and now my phone wakes whenever I use the volume keys. Anyone know how to disable this? While I'm at it, anyway to disable wake when plugging/unplugging from charger too? Thanks!
Sorry for a noob comment..am I missing something here...when I lock the phone..it doesn't wake when I press volume buttons...I'm on stock rom

What ROM are you using? As far as I know, this is not how stock ICS runs. Never did when I was on it. Certain ROMS (codename android and AOKP for example) have this as an option in the settings. If you are on a custom ROM, check your settings.

ICS Rom With Volume Wake

I need a ics rom that has the volume button wake on it because my power button has recently got very hard to press. I am currently on the darkside 3 beta ics rom if that helps or if you could point me in the direction of an add on. Thanks!!
Wow almost 100 views and still no answer.. my my
You could always use the destruction guide below to pull the phone apart and see what's causing your power button woes...
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Disassembling-Samsung-Galaxy-s-2-T-mobile-T989-Phone/8179/1
That said, I imagine once official ICS rolls out of TMo corp the T989 Devs will wake back up and start cooking custom ROMs based on it. Am betting one of these ROM's will have volume wake.
...Also, you could RMA the phone... Just a though.

[ROM][4.0.4]SGT7 Builds for the Xoom (Wingray | Stringray)

SGT7 is the custom ROM by the guys who brought ICS/CM9 to the OG Galaxy Tab
Initially it supported only the first tab, but now we've decided to support other tablets as well, so here it is!
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*
*/
It's based on CyanogenMod 9, and will continue being to be so.
In short, it's a heavily modded CyanogenMod for tablets, fully opensource

wingray = Wifi-only tab, stingray = LTE tab
Also available via Goo Manager
Installation and bugs are also same as CyanogenMod 9
So, download the zip, transfer it to the sd, reboot into Recovery and do a backup (always preferred, but optional), then install the zip.
Install GApps afterwards if you aren't coming from a CM9 / CM9 based ROM
Also read the CM9 thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645651 (has some useful info)
Since neither of us has the device personally, the builds are untested, and we rely on you, the users, to help us.
Report anything wrong with the ROM, and what you'ld like to see in it.
Report issues here : http://code.google.com/p/sgt7/issues/list
(Do not report device-specific issues, i.e. stuff not working on CM9, report only stuff that you saw as a setting and didn't work as expected)
Lastly, thanks to the CyanogenMod team, for all their work, and thanks to the guys who ported ics to this tab.
It's just meant to be an addition of tablet specific tweaks to CM, and we might look forward to merging this functionality into CM later on, but for now, have fun with this.

Pretty sure it's the same error as a few other tablets, get me a logcat if you can, just to be sure, but i'll try fixing it anyways, and release a new clean build later today (morning here)
EDIT: rebuilt and reuploaded, and hopefully the issue should be solved

Thanks cdesai, flashed the newer version and its installed ok - feels quite solid, will play and let you know if i find any problems - hopefully CM9 will work with speaker dock audio soon.
05/28 installed great.
Was poking around the power widget and can't use the flashlite.... bit of a problem for me, but not one telsa LED can't fix.
Just more of an inconvenience than anything else.

New build up, at http://sgt7.tk
I've used the official CM9 builds for the xoom before, but even after a week of trying to get used to it on my xoom, I ended up going back to the EOS Nightlies. So I wasn't sure if this rom was much different than the official cm9. Nonetheless I wanted to try the rom, and boy I had nothing to doubt! This rom is amazing! The additions for tablets make the rom much more usable than the official CM9 rom on my xoom, and the original CM9 rom was no slouch in its own right. The swipe gestures are a neat thing too.
If there is only one thing that I would add to make this rom as tablet-awesome as it can be, it would be to add a volume slider in the "expanded settings". That is something included in the EOS rom that makes a huge difference once you get used to it. For example, the xoom's volume keys are not the best in the business; they work, but they are a bit hard to use and can be frustrating at times. In the EOS rom, that is remedied by adding a volume slider to the "standard settings" (as it is called in the rom itself), a slider that works just like the one when that comes up when a physical volume button is pressed, but can be easily accessed w/o. pressing any physical button. I realize that the volume buttons on the xoom are of course not the same as the volume buttons on the samsung galaxy tab. But this is just a humble feature request that could really finish off a good tablet experience.
Anyways, this is an amazing rom. Thank you so much for it. If your goal was to really make this a better, tablet-optimized version of CM9, then Mission Accomplished! I hope you merge the tweaks you guys put into this rom into the official CM9 rom.

If i got you correctly about the volume key thing, you can just press the volume button once, then slide the volume slider with your hand, without pressing the volume buttons.
Or just launch Settings, then tap sound and then volumes, and you get sliders which can be touched, w/o pressing any physical buttons.
And yea, we do plan to merge most if not all of this into CyanogenMod 9 someday.

Oh, I meant instead of trying hard to press those volume keys to begin with (takes some effort with a case on...) while say, watching a youtube video, one could just swipe up on the notifications, and quickly adjust the volume that way. So there is neither a need to press any physical button, nor is there a need to dig through menus that distract...
Let me attach a screenshot.

I may be confused, but what you have in your screen shot is available here. just 2 taps to get to the expanded combined bar which can be configured to have the volume sliders.

Oh... I must have missed that... Oops.. I know there's a button that switches between volume modes, but I didn't see any option for volume sliders. How did you enable volume sliders?

[Q] How to link notification volume with ringtone volume on ICS builds.

As I said in the title, I was wondering if there was any way to link the two volumes together.
In gingerbread roms, I always used the app Volume Control +, which worked just fine and dandy. However on all roms for ICS (Except AOKP and CM9, which have it included in the volume settings) this app doesn't seem to work anymore, because the notification volume still stays where it is when I hit the volume rockers.
Anybody know of a different app that works for ICS roms on our phone? Or any other way to accomplish this? Any help will be appreciated.
I want this too please...
I was just about to make a thread on this until I decided to search. And same things apply. It worked in 2.3.x and AOKP had it incorporated in the ROM.
*sigh*
This is the biggest urk for me. I'm so used to changing my volume with the volume buttons. I'll have it low and get a text and it's all loud. -_-

I'm reviving this thread now that all E4GT'ers will soon be on ICS - would really like to know if anyone has a way to link Ringer and Notification volume. None of the Play Store apps seem to support this on ICS because apparently they are linked in ICS on every other phone except Samsung's.

[Q] Face unlock on Liquid Smooth?

Hey fellas!!
New GS3 owner here and I rooted and flashed Liquid Smooth (not a big TWZ kind of guy) but unfortunately, its missing Face-Unlock for some reason! I was wondering if there was an APK I could flash or something or someone could direct me in the right direction!
-Also, the volume wake doesn't always work on that rom. Is there also another flash able zip for that?
THANKS
BUMP...No one? :/
I don't recommend LiquidSmooth. It is nice, but it seems like it's features are... behind. Try the latest cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly.
But its a nightly though and I've heard of some apps like Camera not working as well as intended. I really like to have NavBar + Volume wake as I'm used to the Gnex you know? Thats why I wen't for LiquidSmooth. Regular CM doesn't have NavBar :/
I'm running it perfectly now! And to add the nav bar, just search for it. There's a zip file that adds the navbar to CyanogenMod and disables capacitive/home buttons. I'm using it currently.

Sweet thanks man! I just tried it and its sick! Listen, is there anyway to keep the two capacitive buttons lights on? It keeps going off, I like them on!
Thanks man
