Device won't turn on - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Yesterday when i plugged my phone in to charge, the battery icon turned into a question mark and the led started blinking orange and green. I tried pulling the battery out and rebooting the phone and the battery went back to normal but the led kept blinking. I left it to charge overnight and now I cannot get the phone to turn on at all. I have tried pulling the battery, holding the power button, plugging it in, nothing works. It will not turn on. I am on skyraider zeus if that helps at all.

The blinking LED of orange and green means the battery is overheating.
Try a new battery, battery is possible dead?

What kernel are you running? Stock clock speed and voltage? I would also recommend trying a new battery before anything else.

Sounds like your battery is overheating. Well actually sounds like you overheated it to death. It definately isn't a hardware problem though. Ive done this a couple times. Last summer while waiting for Revolutionary to come out I burned allot of time on Netflix with my phone plugged in, one week later fried battery. Just bring the battery in and they can tell you if it's dead or not

Plug USB in to charge phone, but the battery icon just flashes to an empty red...

Any idea what's wrong? I plug the phone into my computer with a USB cable, and I've also tried using the wall socket attachment, but all that happens is the phone's battery icon goes from somewhat filled blue (it's currently in the 70s percent-wise) to flashing an empty red battery icon, then back to blue, then red, etc.
What causes this? I didn't have these problems a week ago and I've changed nothing. Is it the battery? Software problem?
Taking the battery out and putting it back in seems to fix it, but I'm wondering if there is an alternative. Maybe the problem is caused by the Battery Indicator app?
Thanks.
Turn phone off charge overnight then
turn it on charge it till blue light comes on.
turn it off let blue light come on
boot into recovery and wipe battery stats

This slashing red icon just happened to me last night too! I will try this now. Thanks.
Note: I am using an extended 3500 mAh battery.

blinking orange

This morning, my phone was dead. I tried plugging it in but found a blinking orange light. I tried turning it on but it wouldnt turn on. Does this mean there is a problem with my battery?
I've gone on several trips lately where I used my phone as a GPS. I just got a new dash mount for it. On those trips, I had noticed a blinking alternating orange and green light. I thought this meant it was charging and I had a notification, however, now that I do some searching it looks like it means overheating perhaps.
The orange blinking did turn solid after a while and I was able to boot my phone.
Could be a battery issue. If the phone is completely dead, it takes a few minutes on the charger before it can power on. Let it sit for like 5 - 10 minutes on the charger, and when the light goes solid it should be able to be turned on. You may want to invest in a new battery.

This is normal behavior for a completely drained battery. The phone will not turn on until it achieves partial charge (I'm not sure off-hand what %), and it will give you the flashing orange to let you know.
As you observed, once you charge it enough, it will turn on normally and everything is fine again.
As for the blinking you observed during navigation, that could have meant notifications while charging, as you suspected. It's also possible that you were overheating, but if so the phone would have stopped accepting charge and the battery icon would have changed to indicate such.
Thanks, it is working again now. I'll have to keep an eye on the battery life to see if it has really gotten worse.
In the car, I know there was one time where it got really hot. I held it next to the AC vent for a few minutes to cool it down. Also, my charger cable may be going bad. I noticed that eventhough I turn off the screen, sometimes it will randomly come back on. I figure maybe this is the cable getting disconnected and then reconnected.
This happened to me before and it turned out it was my charger not working properly. I even got a message multiple times saying that the charging accessory was not compatible but it was the the stock data cable. The problem turned out to be it didn't have enough voltage or something like that because it kept telling me to connect to a wall rather than through USB, while I was using the A/C adapter.

I'm pretty sure that a blinking orange light during use is a "hot battery" notification. On one trip, I had navigation going, while streaming XM and had the car charger plugged in. When I noticed the blinking orange, the temp was at 119F and really hot to the touch. I immediately stopped navigation and streaming, and unplugged from the charger. Since I had the air on, I removed the phone case and battery door and let the AC blow on the phone which cooled it down and the blinking stopped.

No. It doesn't do that. If you are charging, you get a solid red and no indication of notifications.
The blinking red/green means the battery is too hot and is not charging, as other people have confirmed.

Power Button/Battery issue.

Posting for a friend who has a D.
Today suddenly the battery went dead and the phone turned off.
It was completely unresponsive even with a charger plugged in. We took battery out and left charger in, the light was flashing so we plugged battery back in but the light stoped flashing.
Thinking it was a dead battery we left it 'charging' and after about an hour the light came back on and the battery seemed to be charging.
Ten minutes later the phone turned on automatically and seemed to be OK.
Battey stats showed a massive massive dive making us believe it was the battery.
Now, it seems, the power button is fooked. Its completely unresponsive in the OS and recovery to both long and short presses.
I take it this means its a hardware issue with the power button?
I'm also wondering if these two things are related or its coincidental that they happened at the same time?
Cheers.

Today during sleeping, similar thing happened to my desire. When I woke up, the light was flashing and battery was dead, even though my phone was on charger the whole night... weird...

[Q] Red light of dead (maybe hard brick?)

Hello, I was using my phone yesterday while charging, the battery was ~45% and it was working fine at all, then it suddenly turned off and isn't turning on again, only blinking the red led if the power on button is pressed while charging in the wall charger and glowing the red led without blinking if connected to a computer. If the button is not pressed, the phone just stays off. I don't know what to do, in other situations the phone's battery gone to 0% and blinked the red light without the button pressed and came back after some minutes charging, but this time I tried to charge it some times and nothing happened. Somebody knows what to do?
Thanks
Hello there! I had the same issue, I was playing a game and my phone had like 7%, suddenly it turned off.. And wouldn't turn on, and showed the red led.
What I did is to let it charge for 30 minutes or more, maybe 1 hour. And then it'll turn on, if not. Maybe you'll have to remove the battery and reinsert it back in. But for now just let it charge for a long time. It should turn on.

Yeah, it happened before with me, but it didn't came back this time. Took it to LG, they said it was a hardware problem and that it would took ~4 days to give me an answer, thanks for the help anyway.

+1 to this suggestion. I went through that before, and it definitely helps in many cases. But it sounds like the phone is in for repair with LG now, so it's a moot point...

[Q] Red light blinking even without battery, unable to turn on phone

today after waking up i saw my arc s was switched off some how .i tried to turn it on by pressing power button it didn't ,then i pulled out the battery
and put it in again, then tried to power it on which didn't happen..then i put my phone on charge the red led started to blink (once in 2-3 seconds).
i searched the forum for possible problems then found a drained battery could be a reason, but just before 3 hours i had checked my battery and it was on 98%. so it was not possible that the battery could have drained without doing anything in just 3 hours . still i left the phone on charge for 3-4 hours nothing happened.the light still kept blinking.. then i pulled out the battery and put the phone on charge and the led was still blinking.
Is it normal for the red LED to blink when the phone is put on charge even without a battery??
any body has any idea what happened to the phone?
it was running LUPUS 16 and ULTIMATE HD 5.
Please help me figure out this situation
