So, here's my situation:
I'm running a CDMA Gnex with Apex v.1.0.1 as my rom. I flashed a new radio, [Radio Hybrid] VZW EK5 CDMA(4.0.2) / EK4 LTE(4.0.3), in the hopes I could improve the hand off between 3G and 4G... Nope! The phone will no longer, no matter what I do, connect to the 3G network
OK... I figure, no big deal. I'll just flash a different radio set. Next up were the Leaked 4.0.3 Radios. Same thing. NO 3G at all!
Now I'm getting worried. I flash the stock 4.0.2 radios... Still cannot force it to use the CDMA network. I either have 4G data service or none at all...
What am I doing wrong? I've re-booted each radio set a couple times before dumping them for a different set. I've restored the nandroid back up from before I started messing with the radios. No fix there either. I've removed the sim card and reinstalled it (knowing full well it only controls 4G). Nothing doing...
I've seen similar posts about 3G/4G connectivity issues, but mine is strange because it's just the 3G radio that doesn't work. Voice calls and 4G data work fine.
Bigxie's rom has been rock solid, and since all the radios I've used presented the same issue, I'd be hard pressed to say it was one of them. I'm a noob, so I'm thinking user error somewhere along the line. Any help would be appreciated.
Update:
This was a CDMA network issue, not an issue with the Radios or Rom!!!
I magically picked up 3G this morning while at work. Since I was still running the leaked 4.0.3 radios and the Apex Rom, I realized that this was a network problem, not a software problem. I confirmed this with Verizon just now. They brought down the node closest to my place for emergency repair last night. The CDMA radio came back up as soon as it hit a tower that let it authenticate... It was just a coincidence that it occurred right when I flashed my first radio set, and frankly I feel dumb that I didn't see network error as a possibility sooner.
Try going all the way back to stock with stock radios and see if that fixes it?

flash the bootloader before the radio, reboot after flashing the
bootloader then flash radio, reboot, then flash stock.

Hey guys,
Wondering if you guys can help me out. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue here.
My wife's EVO gets no 3G. We both have EVOs and live in a 3G area. I rooted both phones. I rooted mine a while back before the OTA 2.3 update with Unrevoked, so my hboot is still the 2.10. I rooted my wife's EVO just last week with Revolutionary b/c she installed the OTA 2.3 update.
My wife had been complaining that her phone is slow with data connectivity even before I rooted the phone. Since the closest Sprint repair store is about 30 miles away, I wanted to try and fix her phone to avoid the drive. Plus I like troubleshooting and learning more about Android.
I have used various ROMs on my phone and currently like MikG 2.55. Both our phones are currently running MikG 2.55. Now with this ROM, I noticed that if your phone is not connected to 3G, it will give the 1X icon instead of the 3G icon. My wife's EVO doesnt connect to 3G where as mine does.
I've updated her PRL and Profile through system updates in the settings and still nothing. I did notice that her EVO is using a different radio than mine so i thought maybe falshing her radio might make a difference. Only this is, that I have been researching and a lot of people are saying not to flash radios b/c it can cause problems.
My phone has
Hboot 2.10.0001
PRL version 60681
PRI version 1.90_003
Baseband version (radio) 2.15.00.11.19
ROM MikG 2.55
My wife's phone has
Hboot (pre-root)2.16.0001 (rooted) 6.1xxxx
PRL version 60681
PRI version 2.15_003
Baseband version (radio) 2.15.00.08.08
ROM MikG 2.55
I believe the Hboot versions have no reason why she can't connect to 3G but not sure of the PRI version, radio version. I've also been thinking about flashing the radio/PRL/wimax combo but wanted to get the experts say on it first.
I do not want to mess up her phone b/c it took me a long while to convince her to switch over from her IPhone 3gs (she was having issues with her Iphone). I want her to start loving Android, as I do, over Iphone.
Please help,
Thank you
Try to toggle the airplane mode on and off about 3 times while 3g is on..see if that makes a different perhaps resets it. Can also turn of 3g a few times. I had this before and I am not sure what had happened, but i just messed with the 3g toggle and airplane mode then it started working.
Try to flash the new stock rom in the forum. Wipe the cache and dalvik maybe its just that? Did it ever work after you rooted the device?
I haven't tried the airplane mode trick. I will as soon as I get home.
When I flashed the new ROM I did wipe data/cache and dalvik cache.
When I first rooted her phone I flashed a different ROM (Rainy Day). We still noticed she had real slow data connection but it would show the 3G icon. It probably still shows even if its not in 3G. The Rainy Day ROM was too glitchy (I had it also for a day) so I flashed both our phones to the MikG 2.55 (which I had previously on my phone, very stable ROM). That is when I noticed her phone would stay with the 1X icon.
As soon as I try the airplone mode toggle 3G, I will report back to see if it fixed her problem.
Thanks sup3rn0th1ng
My Verizon GN is having difficulty connecting to my phone and data networks. It all started on the day of the outage this week. I assumed it would all fix itself, but it has not. I've snooped around the board quite a bit and it seems all other users have had their connections restored.
I first noticed the problem on Thursday morning. My data status in notification bar would drop to display no "bars." It does not switch over to 3G. I figured this problem would resolve itself once Verizon fixed its network.
Then I tried to send a text and it couldn't be sent. I tried to call someone and it would not dial out.
But these loss of connections are not persistent. Eventually, the 4G works for a bit then disconnects again.
The phone network seems to be doing this as well. Sometimes I can call/text, other times I can't.
I was considering wiping my phone and flashing a new ROM or getting the stock ROM from google to flash. However, I seem to be having trouble with clockwork mod. When I try to reboot into recovery mode it takes me to what I assume is download mode (shows an android knocked over on his side with, I think, a red X).
Is there something simple I can do to fix my data/phone network connection?
If I have to flash back to complete stock, then how do I do this without being able to access recovery?
If all else fails, will I be able to do a factory reset considering the current scenario? I assume I would need to do this before bringing it to Verizon for service.
I appreciate any help provided. Here are some other details that might help.
Rooted with stock ROM
4.0.2
Baseband I515.09 V.EK05 / I515.EK02
Kernel 3.0.8-gaaa2611
Build ICL53F

I should have mentioned I had the most up-to-date version of CWM. I just reflashed it with ROM Mgr and it booted into recovery, so that's good.
Well ****. I went into CWM - Advanced - Fix Permissions. I thought hitting Fix Permissions would bring up another menu. Instead it fixed permissions. Hopefully I didn't do something stupid that I don't understand.
I flashed the GummyNex Rom hoping it was a kernel issue or an issue resolved by going from 4.0.2 to 4.0.3. It's been a little better it seems, but it did drop both networks once already and it's only been 15 minutes or so.
The new ROM definitely did not solve anything. I don't know what to do. I need to find a way to get back unrooted, unlocked, stock. Unfortunately, I'm running Mac OS X 10.4.11 which current SDK doesn't seem to support.
Hi guys,
I usually don't create topics because there is already a lot of solutions to my problems if I search well, but this time I'm really stuck since 10 days, I don't know if it's a hardware problem.
I bought my galaxy nexus GSM version in January, I leave in Frane, I had some randoms data drops (1 per day) but I just needed to toggle airplane mode to get it back.
I never unlocked or rooted my phone (since the problem)
Here is what's happening. My phone only get network when I'm home. I turned off the wifi on my nexus, still have network, unplug my internet box, still have network.
So I go for a walk to see if it's still work, I just need to go downstairs and my phone loose the network. Impossible to call or be called. Toggling airplane mode do nothing. I tried to put another sim card (in fact 3 differents sim card from different mobile provider), not working. When I go back home, reboot nexus, everything works fini. I'm trying everyday to understand why my phone only works at my home.
Baseband : I9250XXLA2
Android : 4.0.4 IMM76I
Kernel : 3.0.8 franco kernel Milestone 4
What i did :
Reboot phone and take off battery/sim when the network is lost.
Bought another sim card
Rooted my phone and instal rom (AOKP Build 39, APEX)
Flash kernel (Franco kernel milestone 4, Fugu mod)
Flash baseband (XXKL1)
Changed ril with getRIL
Factory reset, wipe cache/data, wipe dalvik cache
I swear my phone is not fallen on the floor and did nothing wrong to get this problem
My nexus is going for warranty on Wednesday. If you guys have any ideas, or anything I did not already tried, do not hesitate!
Thanks!
Hello,
I have different problem. My Gnex is suffering random signal drops when my phone is on 3g network. On 2g network everything is fine.
Like you, I tried a lot of thing. Root, flash different roms, kernels, radios. Download getril, matched radio etc. Also tried to unroot and flash 4.0.2 stock rom. Nothing changed. Today, I went to Samsung service a they flashed new Samsung kernel... still the same.
So please, someone help us about problems that we suffer.
Thanks.

Hey all, finally having some trouble with my Dinc2 that lurking couldnt solve (or I'm still not lurking hard enough). So I am currently running Aerovan's CM10, and decided to start flashing some radios. I installed the latest radio .0320 (and also the AGPS patch, but dont know if thats relevant). Was working great for a while(4-5 days), but yesterday I ran the phone's battery all the way down. When I tried restarting it, it got stuck in a boot loop. I dropped down to .0312 radio to see if it would make any difference, but still no dice, so I did a nandroid restore. This let me back into my phone but now I have no service. I checked the APN settings and had to fix them for VZW, but even after that I still have no service. I downgraded the radio to .1111, wiped cache, and set my APN settings manually, but still no service. I'm at a loss. any help would be awesome.
I had this problem, but eventually I found a radio that worked. You may need to install the stock 2.3.3 RUU, reroot, and go back to your ROM of choice. I had to do that a few times when I started messing around with radios.
You need the radios that I need. I posted a thread asking anyone if them have them. If someone comes up with them I'll let you have them. You need either 1.09.01.0722 or 1.09.01.0622. I'm not sure they will work better but I want to try them anyway. I've tried the ones you have and I get between -105 to -120 dBm with the occasional -104 and -125. It Terrible!
Something simple to check - the antenna is built into the battery cover. No cover connection, no signal.

I can't seem to fix my signal after flashing a ROM anymore. only get 1x which is only better than no signal at all. At one time in the earlier releases of M.O.A.R I was getting LTE and 3G with no problems then later releases I've lost both. I unrooted and went back to stock and my 3G was back and rooted again, went back to MOAR and still no 3G. So now I'm on beenstalk and still cant get a signal. I love both of these ROMS hands down and would like to fix this issue without experimenting with every ROM in the forum. Has anyone else had this issue? I've resetted radios flashed different modems (except MK3) and I still end up with bad network. I need help
Open the dialpad, and then ##72786# . The Device will reboot a few times. Just let it do it's thing. It will go through the Handsfree Activation Process. This will reset your Data.
