Okay so I've got my bootload unlocked and all is well and I wanted to install CM9 because it seems to be the best ICS version out there for my phone. I'm having two issues though. 1 I can't find the download anywhere and 2 I'm not exactly sure how to install it. I've been searching for a while now and I can't get any concrete answers. I'm sure if I found a download I could probably figure the rest out. Any help would be appreciated.
Okay so I'm looking at this thread for the download but can't seem to find it. This says FXP106 has been released as far as I can tell. Thanks in advance.

Is there a easy guide out there that I could understand? i been searching for a few days but I dont understand some of these methods. Any help would be appreciated.

i used this method about a week or so ago and it worked first time. although i couldnt access the recovery to flash a rom sso i ran unrevoked and then i could access recovery and i was fully rooted
Thanx a lot fellas......When I get to step 10 It says device offline. Any idea's as to why I get this error?............
::EDIT:: Nevermind I figured it out...Im rooted Thank you for the help fellas!!!
I officially love this forum! Was about to post this same exact thread and it suggested me here to keep from spam... NEVER have i seen that in a forum, so this is awesome. following instructions on that link to finish this up:-D
ive tried atleast 5+ different rooting methods but cant seem to get it.. i rooted my samsung moment easily as well as others but when it comes to this evo i cant do it.. i bricked it 2 times and to the point where i couldnt even flash the stock ruu anymore but luckily it was only 2 days since buying it so i was able to do a brand new swap and now i have my new evo #2 and havent touched it yet unless i got a fool proof rooting method.. Im not trying to go thru the bricking of this one to.. any input is thankful
Finally decided today to root my phone for the first time.
Success on the first try!
I have been on the forums looking for information on busy box and for de-bloating. Not having as much luck as I thought I would have. Is there a post anywhere that has a list of what to uninstall from the stock tmo rom? I am not really ready to load a new rom yet, net so much impressed with whats out there. Waiting for ICS or CM9, unless someone has something that they want to recommend.
What exactly does busybox do? And does it work with the tmo stock? Can I download the roms through busybox or from the forum and open through my sd card?
Also is there a thread with recommended settings for SetCPu for this device?
Like I said, I was trying to find the information but still a little confused. Thanks everyone.
Hey guys. I've been doing a bit of searching and have only been confused! I have an Evo4G from Sprint and I want to flash it over to be used on either Alltel or Cricket.
I say Alltel or Cricket, because from what i've been reading, there are alot of problems switching these phones to alltel..So i'm looking for suggestions from you guys as far as which to flash. Either will be fine, I just want whichever will work best.
Also, I have found a lot of information about PRL's..But i'm still confused as how to flash to one of these services. The phone is already rooted and running ICS (4.0.3)
So please guys, any information will be greatly appreciated! I'm doing this for a friend and was suppose to have it done by tomorrow, but i've been having so much trouble. I've never done anything like this on a CDMA network. I can normally unlock a phone and pop a sim card into it. I know from reading that I will have to flash some alltel files to it..I'm just having issues finding the correct files and a working guide.
Oh and in case location matters, (if i'm not mistaken other carriers own alltel in certain areas,) i'm in Western North Carolina
Here is the guide I use. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=934417
You will use qspt to flash the prl to your phone. You will need to be on a Sense 1.0 rom, or a Sense rom that has ##codes working.
As for MMS, I have never been able to get it to work, with new apns, gosms or any other way that's on the net. However I did find a solution that costs $5, and it works. Lemme see if I can find it again.
Thanks. I'm going to try it now.
Interesting........I'll have to check that guide out

It says to use the Jiminy rom but when I go to the page to download it, it says it's obsolete all over the page...Should I go ahead and use it? Or is there another one that will work?

you can use pretty much any modern Sense rom. Sense 3.0 and below seem to be best with getting MMS to work. Haven't made it work with Sense 3.5+ or any AOSP roms yet.
Hi,
I just got the phone and have looked thru the forums and I have yet to find a definitive thread on how to root a ATT Samsung S3. Can someone point me in the right direction as the root hits I find all say my phone needs to be a I9300 and mine is a I747.
Also does anyone know what was fixed in the OTA updated that came out 4.0.4? Will this affect me being able to root the phone?
Thanks in advance...Todd

HEY!
Ok so im not completely sure which update 4.0.4 is but I think there has only been one so far right? the one that nerfs google search. Anyway, Here is a link to the guide that i used (after I did the update) and i followed the steps and the comment posted by danK in the comments. He said "If you’ve updated to newer software update, the stock OS will over-write ClockworkMod Recovery on reboot. To fix this, make sure “auto-reboot” is checked off in ODIN, then take the battery out when it’s done flashing in ODIN. Then enter ClockworkMod Recovery right away. " Doing this let me root my phone with zero issues.

(sorry it said i could not post links yet but this is the URL but without brackets)
Thanks for the link, that is only how to flash clockworks mods, how do you root the phone? Can anyone share that info?
Welcome to XDA.
First of all, if you had looked in the Dev section you would have found what you were looking for.

Hi guys i bought a HTC One x yesterday. I want to root my phone and install a custom rom like i did before with my lg optimus 2x . I used the search option to find out where to start..so i found something about rooting and followed the instructions and i don't think my phone is rooted because i don't see a superuser app in my phone. There are so many threads, i cant find the best information and tutorials. also searching in this forum with the keyword "root"dont bring me much about rooting. Are there any new methods? what are the exact steps to get a custom rom installed?
thanks alot
Ensure you have Java, Android SDK tools etc.
Visit HTC Dev to unlock bootloader.
Google it mate, just found you a real good tutorial.....

Hi mate, I was in a similiar boat about what to do first and what not to do, and I spent a lot of time worrying and searching around. Eventually I came across this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843585&highlight=noob
I honestly don't think it could be explained any clearer, just spend time reading it and making sure you've got everything and you should be fine, at your own risk of course.
Good luck.

thanks alot! I will try it tonight after work.
any other tutorials and stuff like that?
download CIDGetter from the play store and check your CID. If your CID matches you can Install a JB Custom Rom.

Tbh if you go through this guide you shouldn't need another one, it'll just get complicated, feel free to have a look though.

And yes, keep in mind the latest JB roms but be careful before you try to flash, because if it doesn't match your CID you will run into trouble whether you use the guide or not.
If you want to play it safe stick to an ICS based sense rom for now.
so how do i know it matches ? couldnt find anything about matches. cidgetter says VODAP02
so where can i find a list to see if it matches?
