Like the title says, what do I have to do to keep my apps?
I'm on stock rom now with a ext3 partition full of apps and I don't want to lose it when I change to CM7.2.0.
Backup and restore with Titanium Backup

ok well on my Amon Ra Recovery.
there is an option for nandroid back up and theres another
option about nandroid + ext backup.
i think thats it.
but i have no clue what nandroid +ext backup.
what does ext mean? extension?
whats the extension for?
and there other options are google proprietary files back and restore.
what the heck is that?
please some give me answers.
it is for people have an multiple partitions on their SD card. ext is a type of partition
The ext partition is a linux partition type used by Dark Tremor's a2sd. Basically, if your custom rom supports a2sd, you can extend your apps installation space by creating an ext 2 (can be upgraded to ext 3 and 4) partition on the sd card besides the normal fat32 partition. If you don't have an ext partition, just do a simple nandroid backup. Otherwise do nandroid + ext backup if you do have one.
Ok, i've just done flashing Virtuous ROM on my DZ. Want to restore all my apps backups using Titanium Backup....
and to my horror... it restored all my apps on my internal memory!!! I thought Titanium Backup should place it back on where it is? anyway to move it all to the SD card?
hi, first, i searched but didn't find something that fits this question, so...
what happens if i restore a nandoid backup from a rom with ap2sd+ with a 512 mb sd-ext partition on a new sd card with an sd-ext partition with 2 gb?
Also the old sd-ext partition was etx3 and the new is ext4 formatet, will there be problems or does anyone did this kind of restore?
Or is it worthless and i should flash the whole rom again?
Thanks
Far as i can tdll you shouldnt have problems, all its doing is writing data..
it should work fine
there shouldnt be a problem as long as the rom supports ext4
i suggest backup your current rom
try restoring old rom
if it works - congrats
if not - flash new rom
it'll only take 10 mins of your time
and you get to learn something new
Hell yeah! I restored my nandoid backup of LeeDroid 2.5 Final A2SD+ and all worked fine, no problems, no need to flash again.
Greetings Spazzt
Since the is no sd card on this phone to save stuff on (i.e. pictures music, etc), when we flash a rom and have to do a wipe , do we lose all of our stuff?
Before you install a custom ROM, make a backup of your current ROM in Recovery. The phone uses built in storage instead of an SD card, but the process for backing up and restoring is the same.

ok do a backup in CWM ? so when I flash after the new rom is on , my folders and files will still be on the built in storage ?
Create a CWM backup and backup the apps you want on titanium. My suggestion for titanium, after you wipe let the market automatically restore your apps and use titanium to restore your data from the apps you want. Most everything like pictures and what's on your internal storage should still be there after wipe, but I would throw them on your laptop or wherever just in case.

The phone does have a "sdcard." Just think of it as a irremovable 16 GB sdcard.
Everything else is the same.
Making a backup is optional, you can do it if you want. Or not do it.
You can always restore yourself back to stock using the stock images provided by Google (google it if you wish to find it).
hi!
if i switch from bcm to sandvolds , the ext4 partition or a2sd (i dont know) is not restore in nand backup. 4ext Recovery
fullwipe does not help...
does anyone know at what this is?
HBoot 6.93.1002

Do you mean the a2sd didn't activated?
I think there shouldn't have restore/backup about the ext partition between the 2 ICS roms. Full wipe supposed to be a clean install.
I do not know if it is a2sd, it will all be refurbished and the apps are gone.
Sorry for my englisch. Its a Google translation.
That's most probably because your ext4 partition needs to be "activated" by creating a a2sd script. Open Terminal Emulator, type
Code:
su
a2sd install
and answer the questions, then reboot.

apps will gone completely if you did a full wipe, which is necessary.
you can either reinstall them manually, or use titanium backup to backup/restore apps and their data.
for ext partition, if you chose stock setting while installing Sandvold's ICS, then you will need to activate the partition like the solution above my reply.
or, you can change the setting to other a2sd script when installing, like amarullz a2sd, you will have your ext3/4 partition back, then you can restore your app and data.
In a normal nand restore?

um.... which step do you refer to?
what's the tool are you planning to use?
Ok. Again from the beginnen. I have sandvolds, than i make a nand Backup. With 4ext recovery. Than i make a full wipe. ( factory Reset. Dalvik, Cache.) than i Flash bcm. All ok. I make nand Backup, fullwipe. And now if i make a nand restore from sandvolds, Shows no error message., all installed apps, all data are gone...
As if something has never been installed
