I want to start theming my gnex but with the secure element/wallet issue floating around I would like to avoid flashing my phone. My thinking is I should be able to develop in the emulator then port it over for the Gnex. I've been trying all night to get my emulator to power up with a system.img file from my Gnex and no matter what I try I can't get it to boot. I even tried using the mkfs.yaffs2 tool to pull the system.img file off the running emulator just to see if it would boot with its own system.img file. Since that doesn't work, i figure I have to be doing something wrong.
I am putting the system.img file in the c:\users\user\.android\avd\gnex.avd folder. The target is called gnex so from what I read this should work.
Can the emulator being used for what I want to do?

Im looking for the boot animation for OS 1.0. Can anyone help me out?
I'm Br1ck'd's guy who was looking for the boot animation for you over the weekend. The problem I'm running into is that every ROM I can find is in the *.nbh format, so there is no way I can actually go in and grab the information. However, I haven't given up, and if I do find a way I'll let you all know.

OK, so you're hosed with your request. Apparently, the boot animation is locked until at least Cupcake. So I can get you the Cupcake boot animation no sweat. But when I flashed my G1 back down to stock 1.0 there is no way to run Super User on it. You have root access, however when running something like Terminal Emulator and type "SU" you'll still get permission denied errors even though you have root access. Lame, I know.
So for giggles, I adb pulled every file from the root of the phone. No dice. There is no animations, period. Even searching every friggin' *.png file, there is nothing there for the boot animation. I can flash a new boot animation to the phone, but all that does is mask the original one, which is hidden somewhere in the *.nbh file. However, either I am not smart enough, or there is no way to do it as of yet, but I cannot get into the *.nbh file, period.
So I figured "OK, I'll try an emulator". That also failed, as the earliest emulator I can find is the emulator for Cupcake. So I then tried to use the emulator to flash a different ROM, which failed because as it reboots it goes back to stock Cupcake. Which is lame (they should really have a save state or something).
The next step I tried was downloading an older version of the Android SDK. Again, nothing available to me until Cupcake. I could have possibly loaded it in Eclipse, but I don't have Eclipse and don't prefer to have Eclipse, and I doubt that it would have made a difference since searching every folder in the SDK packs turned up nothing. I even loaded the SDK packs on my Mac, just in case there was a different set of files. Nothing.
Since I'm still on 1.0 I did try to do an ADB Shell, but any command gives me permissions issues. It's probably because of the root issue with the stock image. I don't really know, I just know I can't do it.
So my final attempt was that I downloaded a *.nbh explorer for the Windows 7 phones, but it doesn't work because of the signing issues.
Ultimately, you're not going to be getting the boot animation from me. I've tried and failed Sorry man. Good luck though!
You mean the "Glowing Android" bootanimation?
I was looking for it a few weeks ago, and made my own with the resources in the 1.0 build.
It's 800x480, you might have to resize it to 320x480.

I need help I saw this bloghttp://bcmon.blogspot.com/2012/10/new-firmware-for-bcm4329.html
And I was wondering how do I get this to work, I downloaded the file they said to download (in attachments). I don't know what to do with it. Thanks for reading.
Most likely its to flash in recovery (only if rooted). HOWEVER, unzip it first and check to make sure theres an "updater-script" file in there somewhere
Those files are used to patch the Linux Kernel when you're booted into the Backtrack 5 mobile ARM virtual enviroment.
The changes are not done to the ROM on the phone but Linux image on the SD card.
The patch has an install script run setup.sh from the directory in a terminal in bt5.
Then reboot and modprobe the new wireless module.
Hello Everyone. I am completely new to android and i understand a bit but only a bit, not much. I have been trying to flash the newest firmware (4.2.2) and i got all of the files prepared and I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895<br /><br />[HOW-TO]%20[GSM%20&%20CDMA]%20Return%20to%20stock%20for%20ALL%20Galaxy%20Nexus%20phones%20%28latest%20JOP40D%29
I've rebooted my device like how it says (with the android guy open for surgery). Ihave all of the files ready in one directory, but i don't understand how to open a command prompt in the same directory which holds all the files like how it says. I really need a good and easy, quick response. Also, will i use terminal or console or something else??
Thank You in Advance!!

thanks, but thats not what i was looking for, i want to use htis guide, and my only problem or question is how to open a command prompt in the directory i made as in step 1 part C. i just want to make sure the computer sees my device, but i don't know how to do this.
Could try this (found after a quick Google search)

Obviously the file names will be different as the image will be the latest 4.2.2 as opposed to the one used in the guide but it still applies

You have to open a terminal window on your mac...

OP do you know the path to your destination folder?
When you launch terminal window your default localisation is: YOUR_USER_NAME folder. I have no idea where do you keep your image files. Mine is located at Desktop/Nexus/Stock/422_jdq39* . The easiest way to navigate is in my case just to type:
cd desktop/nexus/stock/422_jdq39
once you're there you can start ./fastboot flash ....
*remember to copy fastboot file to that folder
Phone Was working fine on latest PA rom until battery died. Upon charging and rebooting up, the Rom some how got corrupted i guess, because it now just boots logo forever. I don't have any roms on the device itself so can't reinstall anything through recovery to try to fix whatever may have got corrupted. I know there is a way to Side Load with TWRP, but am running into difficulties. I do have the drivers for the nexus installed. I can't directly drop files through windows because it doesn't read in recovery and read up upon researching the Side load function. So I downloaded the ABT bundle zip folder and placed it in C folder, but that's where i'm stuck. I've tried looking a few things up but every time i try to run Adb command in the platforms folder it just opens and closes within a second. not sure what i'm missing. i've tried looking at other ways but most other phones have the capability of just throwing it on to the SD card which helps other people. thanks in advance.
Tl:dr Need to get a rom file onto the Nexus, to install and repair my corrupted rom.
you run adb from COMMANDLINE, it sounds like you are trying to double click the adb.exe....that will never work. adb is a commandline tool
ok, i'm pretty much a noob, don't know how to do that but i'll google it first before i bug any more. thanks again.
Since you are using windows, while looking at the explorer window that contains the adb/fastboot exes, hold down shift and right click somewhere in the blank space within the folder...OPEN COMMAND WINDOW HERE
once you have a DOS prompt open in that location, type 'adb devices' without any quotes to see if your device is being recognized.
there is an entire thread dedicated to walking you through this whole process.

I googled it and got it set up and working. it does recognize my device. now i'm reading up on the command to send the zip file. seriously, thanks for the feedback. been sitting here for like 2 hours trying to figure this out without pulling out my hair and tossing the phone lol.
You could have just read the stickies... Why people don't get curious about things like "RETURN TO STOCK ON ANY GALAXY NEXUS VARIANT" or "ANDROID 101", I'll never understand.

ok so im getting more into android development in the SDK lately and i ran across a tool called eclipse and by messing around with it i see that it can boot virtual android versions of choice so i see different android versions and i downloaded GB thought SDK and booted easy. But i want to but my own custom image of the xperia play in there. From what i can see eclipse uses everyday .img files (system.img, userdata.img ramdisk.img build.prop) but i see two thats different kernel-qemu file and source.properties. i was wondering if these files are important, i believe so that kernel-qemu could be what we know as kernel.img in a different form. how do i obtain these files to boot my xperia play on eclipse?
i could really use some help in this, im always recklessly making edits to my phone and i would like to test it virtually first before i send it to my phone.
