Hey all I am having some trouble with my Inc2. It seems like there is some issue with the USB port or the battery. It is having a lot of trouble charging. It also seems like the battery is draining faster than normal. The issue started today. I woke up and my phone was off. I tried everything I could but it would not turn on.
After about 2 hours of screwing around with it it just turned on. Once it booted up I noticed that the battery was at 0. I have had it on the charger all day and it never got over 40%. Please help!
I am rooted running CyanogenMod 7.1.0.1

Try a different battery or a different cord. I had a similar issue.

I'm not completely sure about this, but in your sig, you say you are overclocked to 1.5ghz. That probably isn't helping your battery.
My nephew had the same problem and it was a bad usb port. Does your connection seem snug or a little loose? If so, I would get it replaced.

EDIT: ISSUE SOLVED, it appeared that my non-working camera was eating the battery like crazy, so I just isolated it from the pins with a little bit of scotch tape Now battery drain is normal.
Hello Guys,
Something strange started happening recently. When my desire is turned on, it won't charge from USB. The led light turns red, it looks like it's charging, the back gets VERY hot, but the phone doesn't really charge, in fact for a few hours it actually loses a few %.
If I turn it off, it charges well from both USB and wall socket. I still didn't try charging it from wall socket when turned on. Also, whenever I'd use it it would get very hot (even hotter than in the past)
The bad thing is that I did too many things to my desire at the same time and it's not easy to determine the real issue:
1. Flashed Leedroid GB rom
2. Opened the phone ~3 times in order to try to fix the camera and once to replace the earpiece (it was blown out).
3. Started using a cheap $2 ebay wall socket battery charger as I have 2 batteries.
I noticed the dialer app is eating quite some power, it's the second greediest right after the display in battery info. Also, the phone started draining the battery even faster then usual - for about 5 hours with moderate use (1 hour of reading and playing games) it's down to 30%. So, I am wondering - should I revert to an older rom (Android 2.2) or try something else?
Thanks for any kind of suggestions
i have exactly the same problem. Im using InsertCoin rom + is unlocked with an app from xda for using all networks
Ok, a short update - I managed to charge it while turned on with the wall socket charger. Meantime I also reverted to leedroid 2.5 final (android 2.2) and it didn't fix the problrem. I also calibrated the battery with the app " battery calibration " from the market, but this didn't help - for about an hour of save its now under 60%. And the phone is very hot in its lower back part. Seems the CPU is working quite a lot, which i have o idea why it does...

Also check if u can enable Bluetooth

Hmmm im not sure what u mean. Anyway, the issue appeared to be my camera which wasnt eorking but still eating a lot of battery, probably due to a a short cirquit. Thats why my phpne waznt charging - having it turned on was ating more battery than getting via the charger...

Just try to enable Bluetooth and see if it activates and not just turns off

I left my phone on the charger all night and when I woke up it was fully charged, but really.. really, hot. I noticed I had one notification which was a text and I know the phone stopped charging, and that shouldn't be the issue. After unplugged it, reset it, and answered the text It cooled down. I had a text just a couple of minutes ago and waited a while to answer it and noticed my phone was getting slightly warmer. Since I responded Its now at a regular temperature. Is it possible my phones overheating from pending notifications? I know that question sounds dumb but this is really bugging me out. Anyone have any advice?
I running ERA Legendary Rom with GetuSum's EI22 ICS theme 2.1 if anyone wanted to know.
Did you leave any apps on plus when you charge your phone Being "ON" it heats up more than if Off

I usually power it off.. because it also charges faster. I had no apps running and even turned off the data connection. I DID however try to install the gta San Andreas app from an "undisclosed" website.. (ehmm 4shart) which was a bad idea since of course it didn't work.. I really hope im not gonna have to end up re-installing this rom and theme, since i just installed it 3 days ago.
what are a couple things that would cause over heating? maybe that can help out.. thanks
If your phone is in use while on the charger... the display being really high the normal things.... that cause overheating like leaveing it clocked at 1500mhz

True, I think my display was on, and it usually is pretty bright. I just charged it again this time while powered off and there was no overheating (woohoo!) I've had this epic for about a year and a half now so I take care of it likes it's child haha...
I appreciate the advice
I noticed my phone got hot when charging (phone is on when I charge) with the EI22 ROMs I used.
I recently installed the stock EL30, rooted it, and installed the Shadow kernel for EL30. Now it always stays cool. Coincidence? Maybe, but I'm happy it's always cool now.
there's possibily charging overnight will make your battery broke inside (see explanation for li ion battery on google)so it easily become overheated when used normally
My phone stopped charging from its regular wall charger this morning. Now when I plug it in it doesn't do anything. If I turn it off and plug it in the battery icon with the charging icon shows up then shows it charging, then it shows the charging icon again and the same thing keeps happening until the battery just dies. The only way I can get it to charge is if I plug it into usb port on my computer. Is there any solution?

The same exact same thing happened to me today! Very strange. I restarted about 4 times, and took out the battery etc. and it just started working.

It happens when u add few drops of water in charging port.. lol
Happened to me too ..
I used every trick vacuum, hair dryer, sun-light, heat etc. but didnt work
then I dipped my phone in 100 kg rice bag for 2 days .. lol
problem resolved !
I just started experiencing the same thing. Occasionally I can get it to charge, but usually it just sits there and dies. I haven't been able to test the pc charging, as I'm currently on vacation. This is pretty random, considering I've had the phone since launch day (Verizon), and have dropped it, etc in the past with no problems; then randomly it won't charge.
Had strange problems like this. Try bending the little tab in the charging port on your phone (carefully) away from the side. I haven't had a problem since.

Your charging brick or USB could be bad. Try different cords/chargers.

I've had similar issues.
Some background: It started just after I flashed the AUG 29 AOKP Jellybean nightly. It might just be a co-incidence but I saw a couple of people on rootzwiki who had a similar issue.
I wasn't charging at all then. Only when I was turned off. I was having driver issues with computers that had connected to the phone before.
I have since reset it back to stock JB and the charging from the charger seems to have been fixed. Instead my pogo pin charging is a bit iffy. It works sometimes but not always.........
Well, I spoke too soon! NOT CHARGING from the wall again. When phone is shutdown, it charges. In Android, it doesn't.
Could you tell us what you have done so far? Any solutions that you tried but didn't work?
Have you tried:
-different battery?
-using different cable or the charger?
-straightening the metal part of the port?
-cleaning the port with alcohol?
These are the known solutions for most of the Gnex port problem. If you haven't tried already, please do so. If you're still having problem with it, tell us.
Solution
This is not a randome issue... Happened to me too only ONCE and never again
Solution
Let the phone battery die out completely and then charge a bit and boot into CWM recovery. Reset battery stats and you are good to go.:good: Or you can even try reseting battery stats without complete discharge. I havent tried the later since had this problem only once. I'm not a developer but my theory is that there is some embeded software that determines power supply and due to some reason it got corrupted.
Hit THANKS if I helped
Thank you everyone for your help. Really appreciate it. So I know I didn't get it wet. And I changed chargers and batteries to no avail. Then I tried what the last post said, to wipe battery stats. I did that and restarted. Did it again because first time didn't do anything. Now its charging fine. Great relief

I'm experiencing this problem now. But I think it's because I was messing around with 'Fast Charge' settings in my AOKP Milestone 1 ROM controls without really knowing what any of it meant. I'll try to wipe battery stats and do a few reboots. I'll let you guys know.

Same problem for me now too! =\ I'm using cyanogenmod though. I reset battery stats, formatted and factory reset the thing and nothing. Also tried a few different cables. It's also no longer being recognized when connected to PC.
EDIT: Looks like the USB connector on the device was slightly off center. Bent it up a bit and it seems to be working as normal now.

Just saw the above link. Sorry on the phone so I'm not browsing as in depth as normal.
Hey all, my vz gnx just started constantly going back and forth between charging and discharging when it's not plugged in.. this causes the screen never to turn off and the phone to never sleep. Obviously battery life is horrible now. Anyone have ideas? I just tried updating CM10 to the latest (even though it was working perfect on the m edition) and tried stock and Franco kernel.. Any ideas?

Try to clean the charging port or bend the pins in the charging port up a tiny bit.
If that doesn't work your only resolve is to change the charging port, or do a warranty claim if it's still valid.
I know the SGS 2 have some issues with the same thing (at least 3 people I know with the SGS have this issue).

Hello Everyone,
I am a noob on XDA, Please correct me if i have posted in the wrong forum. I bought a new nexus 7 16gb, for some reason when the battery is around 25-30% the tablet turns off itself. Its not shutdown its like pulling the battery of a phone thats on. The only way to start it is by connecting the charger.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
I am on the stock rom NOT rooted
Thanks

Have you charged the device to 100% yet? I would do that, leave it charging for an hour after it shows 100% then use it till it dies. Rinse and repeat.

Yes I have charged it 100% multiple times, The only difference is i use a sammy charger that outputs 0.7 amps once in a while. I dont suspect the charging thing to do this.
Are you getting normal use out of a charge? How much screen time in one charge?

Like Highfigh suggested check how long you can run on a full charge. If you get some good hours in then maybe the battery % is not reporting back properly. A reset/restore could possible resolve that issue.
I believe I am getting pretty good charge. I will try once again, I was thinking this might be something with stock rom and hence I posted it online. Thanks every one for the help

exactly the same story here. in my case it's not so easy to turn it on. it would seem like the device is completely discharged, even if it just showed some 40 % battery left. i have to wait several hours to even try to bring it back to recovery mode. very long press does nothing. it happened couple of times already. very annoying with such seemingly superb tablet. i'm not living in the us of a, so no quick replacement for me
That's bad I can turn on mine in a few minutes. Again mine happens very rarely. I also get an excellent battery life. How long does yours go on a charge.
I would also like to know if there is any kind of Logs that we can look at. It's getting irritating, did you try rooting your device to see if that might fix the problem.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I got the same problem recently, I think it was after the last update on the firmware. Everytime the battery reach around 35% it just went off.
