No bacon? Pfft. I want nothing to do with that OS then.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
You know what would be smart? If google only made two android phones that worked with the next update. One with physical keyboard, one without. Only difference.
And here's something you probably didn't think of as a benefit of that. Over time, communities like XDA would ditch their old phones, and start using the only android phone. Then, there would be a HUGE AMOUNT of support for literally anything that we could think of for Android, and it would ALL WORK all the time, because Android would be universal. Anything at all. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the combined devs on XDA developed a holographic projector out of that phone.
But, sadly, I don't think Google will do that. Oh well. They sure as hell would start pulling people from the iPhone and not push them towards it if they did.

From what I heard he got banned because he didn't credit people he should have credited and that he had warez inside his OMGB rom.
Just rumors, I really have no idea and can't back up that story.
Honeycomb was never meant to be run on a phone, cool that it's able to though but I personally wouldn't flash it
The new 4.0 is suppose to merge the Tablet and Phone androids into one, that's the one I'm excited about

all you have to do is edit your build.prop file. you can make it say what ever you want it to. I had one of my old ROMS saying it was IOS Android Version.
Doesn't seem any different from 2.3. Probably fake.

A little research goes a long way. There are two threads that I know of explaining this, but the gist of it is that this is really an unreleased Gingerbread version from before google pushed 2.3.3 (Nexus One/S gingerbread OTA). It's absolutely legit, it's just gingerbread. JDK is looking for hits on his site or something, because he really isn't doing anything new.
Thanks for the info.

I got my 4.0 aftet doing this.
First delete the threads like when will we get ics if you started a thread
Second do a factory reset.
Third pull out the battery.
4th put the phone and battery in the desk drawer.
5th dont touch the phone for 3months from now on
6th then u can put the battery back in and you should receive an ota or check xda. If you didnt get it repeat the process.
its important not to use the phone in that period of time because the phone knows if u created a thread or not. If you did created the thread and dont follow this procedure the phone will go back to cupcake(1.6) and lock him self up with some hardcore bootloader that u can never root it. And the phone will overvolt your phonw by 4times and underclock the phone to 400mhz and use only single core.
And cut the ram and memory by 1/4. So careful if you dont want to end up with 400mhz overvolted 256 mb ram 4gb phone. Oh and one more thing. It will only do 2g and no wifi.
Ics update or ****ty phone. Your choice

Hey I know this should be in Development Forum but I'm not allowed to post there yet, was wondering if it would be possible for a Dev to make a ROM to run Cupcake/Doughnut/Eclair on the GNexus?
Obviously not for a daily driver but for simple curiosity to its possibility and its speed. I imagine that on such a powerful device such a simple OS would run blazingly fast.
Feel free to repost this in the right forum, actually please do.
AJ
Q: Why the hell would you want to do that ? :| You want fast ? Try a 4.0.3 ROM and that's it. End of story.
I wouldn't use it daily, I just never got to use the old android versions and I think it would be a cool gimmick. If the G1 can run ICS why can't the Nexus run Cupcake?
I'm currently running the AOKP (Kang Project), I'd say its the best ICS ROM I've come across
Why would you ever want to do this? it would be equivalent to taking your PC and putting windows 95 on it.....Why would you. 4.0.3 ICS works fine, it doesn't slow the phone down any, downgrading to an older OS isn't going to show you some amazing massive speed increase.
While it may be possible, I think you can assume from the tenor of the responses so far that it isn't too likely that you'll find a lot of people interested in investing the time to make it happen.

as ittekaimus said, you'd be unable to run those.
all those versions of android required physical buttons, so you won't have home, back, or menu unless you added softkeys, would would basically require a rewrite of the original code. and no one is going to do it.

Would be a hard sell to a dev.
Essentially you would be asking "Can you waste your time porting an older OS to my phone that not many people will use, will provide no real benefits, and will require back porting drivers?"
Now if it did come out it would be cool (choices are nice) but I four it will come out.

ICS slowing down the GN? what?
Gingerbread isn't even optimized for multi-core phones.
gnexus has to run faster with ics.
I believe ics is made for the galaxy nexus. to this specific device. therefore ics should definitely be faster.
putting gingerbread on this would be hard cause we only have on-screen buttons.

What I don't understand is how come carriers like T-Mobile and ATT take so long to roll out updates when they have dedicated developers, and folks here in XDA can write custom kernels in weeks. They should just release their kernel source code to XDA developers and let them handle it.
