[Q] GSM/WCDMA problem - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a problem with htc wildfire. Before the Revolutionary hboot flash and flash cyanomod and radio everything was ok. Now phone works badly on the choice of GSM / WCDMA automatically. I am often unavailable and the call ends fall. I have to use GSM only mode, then it's ok.
The problem is that even after returning to the original HBOOT 1.01.0001 and RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10 no problem disappears. The phone no works well on the choice of GSM / WCDMA automatically as before flash. Do you know where he could be a problem. Sory my English.

How to get OTA stock Froyo 2.2 on Telstra branded Desire (A8183) without rooting

I couldn't find a decent step by step for this, so here's how I did it:
1. Create a GoldCard for your device using Klutsh's GoldCard tool.
2. Download one of the stock RUU ROMs.
3. Once ROM is flashed, check for updates on phone and download the Froyo update.
Hi Armysh,
Thanks for your reply.
As a user with a Telstra branded phone, I just wanted to confirm:
a) Does this download the official HTC Update (With HTC's customisations / applications)
b) Does anything special need to be done to make sure this continues to work with Next G?
Cheers
Adza
Hey adza,
It gives you the stock HTC update without all the Telstra guff.
Sorry, it wouldn't let me post links, but you can Google Klutsh's GoldCard tool (make sure you read the readme) and there is a page full of untouched ROMs here on XDA. I picked the second WWE one, ran the downloaded ROM exe on my computer with the GoldCard in the phone, and it updated fine. Once that had all loaded up, I then just checked for system updates and downloaded the Froyo update that popped up.
Hope this helps.
Hi Armysh,
Thanks for your reply. Well - I'm going to give this a shot. Hopefully I'll have a working unbranded Froyo HTC shortly....
Cheers

Edit:
Hi Armysh,
Just wanted to say thank you very much for your post here. I have been able to upgrade as per your instructions and all appears to be working well! Once again, thank you very much!
Adam.
no joy...
I have a Telstra branded Desire which I had previously already rooted. When I try and install the ROM you indicated (with goldcard in phone), I get the following message:
ERROR[130]: MODEL ID ERROR
Weak.
I'm not too sure, but from what I've read you need to get the rooted OTA Froyo ROM and flash that the same way you flashed any other ROM after rooting.
Not sure what's happening there.
My downloads were:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
and
http://liveimage.htc.com/OTA_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8-1.21.405.2_release4dua3bcrut4wrv30.zip
and all went smoothly for me. (Once I got my head around how to use the Goldcard properly that is) No rooting for me - just straight from the Telstra version to the HTC vanilla one
Cheers

This is also exactly what I want to do, I've got the Goldcard now, but can't seem to figure out what to do next with it. All the guides I've read then proceed to root the phone? Any pointers to useful instructions already published?

To me it looks like your Goldcard is faulty. Try to create a new one. Cheers.
On to second gold card and still just a giant bag of fail. I've tried several ROMs, including rooted Froyo ROMs with no luck.
Very frustrating.

You need to navigate through the boot loader. This can be done by holding down key combinations (including Power+Vol Up, and Power+Home IIRC).
Cheers
Adza
I followed the instructions and update to the ROM (RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed)
But when I do to software update it says 'there are no updates available for your phone'
I tried downloading the OTA_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8-1.21.405.2_release4dua3bcrut4wrv30 and copying to the goldcard and renaming it update.zip but when I start the phone in recovery mode I just get a phone icon with an exclaimation mark.
Any ideas?
Edit: Ok I think Ive worked it out -- Here are the steps I performed on the Telstra A8183 Desire (Note: I am using it on the Telecom NZ XT Network)
If not already done, Install HTC Sync and restart your computer (Yes you acutally do have to restart or it wont work)
Format the microSD card to FAT32 format (quick format is OK).
Put the microSD card in your device and boot it.
Launch GoldCard Tool (Right Click and run as Admin if needed)
Connect Android device to USB and enable USB Debugging (Settings --> Applications --> Developer --> Enable USB Debugging)
Click 'Get CID' (If MMC1 fails try MMC0)
Navigate to psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard, enter the CID number from Goldcard Tool and create your goldcard image, which will be e-mailed to you.
Enable USB Mass Storage on the Desire if its not on already
Click 'Refresh' and select your microSD card in the drop down menu.
Click 'Load GoldCard.img' and open the .img file you got by email.
Click 'Patch MMC'
Download and run RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe
Once the phone is flashed, download OTA_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8-1.21.405.2_release4dua3bcrut4wrv30.zip and rename it to update.zip
Copy it to your Goldcard and power off the phone
Turn on the phone by pressing the Down arrow Key and the Power Button This will take you to a menu. Using the volume down button to select recovery mode and press the power button.
When you see the image of the phone with an Exclamation mark press the volume up and the power button and select install the contents from update.zip
Hi,FYI after doing this update, your HTC Desire will be recognized as A8181 instead A8183 which not allowing you to use the Next-G network

Really? Thats weard, because I get the H symbol for HDPSA after having done the flash and I made a Speedtest and got around 600 kbps. I did this test before and after the flash.
So I thing your phone gets only a face lift to A8181 but nothing else happens to your antennas frequency.
But I have to say I dont know NextG Network, I´m in Paraguay and we have 3.5G at 850mhz.

I got that same message the first time I tried to flash (without a Goldcard), than made the Goldcard and everything went really smooth. But I ran the RUU loosing root, so I could get the OTA Froyo Update.
Thanks a million for this!
Followed the steps given here and had no issues at all. Android Version is being reported as 2.2 in the settings. Loving froyo on my Telstra desire. Good to be rid of all the junk the pre-install too! Wi-Fi hotspot is brilliant, that was the only thing I missed about my HD2. Not having any network issues either.

The Symbol H will still shown up as it work in 3g network (band 2100Mhz) but not in telstra Next-G network (band 850Mhz).
By changing the radio to A8181 ver. the radio will be changed from:
HSPA/WCDMA: Australia: 850/2100 MHz
GSM: Australia: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
source: HTC Australia website (can't post link yet)
to:
HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
source: HTC Global website
Cheers
Another request for A8183 reports...
I too have an A8183 from mobicity. It's just arrived and I haven't done anything except charge it and turn it on (not even a SIM or SD card installed).
I'd really like to upgrade to 2.2 but am concerned as some suggestions that following the process here might change the radio and kill 850.
I am in NZ and obviously need 850Mhz most of the time for XT.
Has anyone else updated an A8183 Desire with 2.2 and can confirm it still works on BOTH 850 and 2100 Mhz in NZ on XT?
Cheers - N

850Mhz = NO
2100Mhz = YES
Here is some quotation from wikipedia regarding XT radio band (its up to you to believe it or not ^_^):
--
WCDMA
The XT Mobile Network is a 3G WCDMA UMTS mobile network which covers 97% of places where New Zealanders 'work and play' using HSPA as its technology for data transmission. It operates at a frequency of 850 MHz, a lower frequency compared to other 3G networks. The 850MHz frequency results in a stronger signal strength throughout New Zealand's particularly mountainous terrain. While lower frequencies have a tendency to be able to curve around obstacles such as hills and buildings, one should not expect to be able to achieve adequate coverage in remote locations such as mountains, forests and national parks.
Phones that are capable of 850 MHz UMTS connections will be able to access the network throughout the country. In some densely populated areas, including the main city centres, handsets will also be able to connect using 2100 MHz UMTS. Many older 3G handsets, manufactured before 2008 only support 2100MHz and would not be well suited to the XT Network as they would only have coverage in areas where 2100 MHz is available -- such as Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Older handsets would be well suited to use 2degrees or Vodafone for nationwide coverage in NZ.
--
So It means, you can still use your Desire with XT network after update to froyo if you live in those underlined cities since .
Similar to Telstra, 3G network still working (using 2100Mhz) but not for Next-G (850Mhz).
oh btw,
I use 3 Australia (2100Mhz) and my Desire works perfectly even after the update
Cheers

Problem.
I got to this stage, but when I executed the file on my PC, it installed a bootloader and then asked me to reboot the PC.
After the PC powered down to reboot. Nothing! No BIOS post boot or anything.....
I can't access anything...
It's seems like it flashed something on my motherboard and now I can't boot into anything....
So, what gives?

[Q] some problems (receipt, ROOT, warranty)

Hello once,
my DHD has been making some problems since 2 months.
Initially, it began to hang out constantly. (at gaming, navigating, ..)
Thought, maybe it's the new Rom (leedroid 3.3.3).
Tried new, different, and older Roms but brought only limited relief.
It depends on considerably less.
Now a month ago, the main problem. Suddenly, in 3G mode, no receiving.
In the GSM reception was stable.
Tried everything. Several error messages reported by the provider, swapped sim card, another Rom, another radio and other radio cells (about 400 km radius).
Nothing helped, so it should now be sent for repair.
Thought, maybe only a software error and the provider complain because the root, so original ROM on it.
Have only the Ace_O2_DE_1.32.207.1 ... signed flashed by PC over it,
without the root, the boot loader to the S-OFF or OFF-ENG or whatever was on it previously removed.
Tried ... no longer receive data/internet, but receiving it in the 3G and GSM mobile phone and SMS mode.
And suddenly one day later for a few hours normal 3G reception 2Mb/s.
But only for a few houres.
Device hangs up still occasionally in games, etc.
Update via the "System Software Update" made on 1.38.207.1 20MB (20MB Large)
He seems to have hang up again, during the update.
Since no WiFi, UMTS.
In Power, Vol-menu is still "-S SHIP OFF" and the point "Recovery" is displayed.
under SimLock "MCCMNC file fail" and "CID file fail"
Hope someone can help me further, I do not fact.
I think I have completely reset the phone to see if it really is not a software error, and then send it for repair.
Apologies for the bad (google translator) English.
Greeting
How can i set the CID to O2-Germany stock an remove the Recovery option in boot menu?
To unroot and get your phone completely back to stock:
1: Install 1.32.405.6 RUU
2: Use Visionary+ R14 to temproot, then permroot
3: Reboot
4: Use Jkoljo's Easy Radio Tool to set S-On and set the CID to the default HTC__001 (Unless your phone came carrier branded in which case the CID will be different)
5: Reboot
6: Reflash the RUU
7: Update to the latest software normally through software updates
If you have any problems while doing these steps just say and we will do our best to help
Thanks for the answer
Can I flash the HTC 1.32.405.6 without branding?
I`ve no Idea with CID or S/EN/Super-OFF I have.
Try cid-getter from the market. This one should display the right cid
