[REG] Possible Fix for Mic issues in some wp7 handsets! - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

Hi,
I have a samsung focus running 7.10.8107. I was tired of the people on the other side telling me that they cant hear me. tried diagnostics in vain since *#197328640# was not working. I was driven to the verge of a hardrest and thought, if Hardset is the only way, why dont I fiddle with some reg keys.. The issue was that there were no reference available.. I searched the web and found that am not the only one with this issue but there were no solution.
I took a chance and tried to follow the WM reg key changes and with reg editor 1.2.0.0 (thanks to Julien Schapman) I searched for keys similar to the ones in WM 6/6.5 used to tweak mic volume, like "mic" "audio gain" etc. I played around with few keys for over 10 days now and My issue with Mic is gone if I use the following reg edits
HKLM/software/samsung/Audio here my DualMicState was "0" and EnableDualMic was "1". I changed these as "1" and "0" respectively. And I haven't heard a complaint yet from the other side that my voice is feeble. Pls note that we cant keep both the keys at "1" for it falls back to the original state after a reset and people would no longer hear you.
P.S. I do not know what these reg edits really do. Of desperation I tried something and it seems to have worked. I take no responsibility of your device damage. BUT IT WORKED FOR ME!
If someone could explain the real reasons why it worked that would be great.. I am creating tis as a seperate post get some expert to comment on it. Thanks

It could be that the primary mic broke and by enabling dual mics you have enabled the 2nd mic.

Voice Command 1.5 announce crackle?

Hello all - just got my MDA III yesterday. Overall very pleased. Having one issue with crackle from the speaker when a call comes in and 'announce caller' option is enabled with Microsoft Voice Command 1.5
Without this checked, the phone rings as normal, but with the option on there is definiate crackle that I don't hear when using voice command at any other time. Has anyone else had this issue or know of a fix?
Regards,
Darren
same issue, don't worry... probably a bug in Voice Command. Gives same problem on all ROMS and models
This seems to be an existing problem with BA speaker. If there are two or more sound sources going off at the same time, the speaker crackles. If you only let only one sound source going off at a time, the speaker won't crackle.
Um wrong! Its the audio priority. So with a registry editor do this for the fix. Change this HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev\Priority256
to 75 and soft reboot. No more problems.

Your tweak didnt solve my problem, In my signature you'd see the rom version on my BA. I even tried many more settings, none worked.
I want to add something by default I don't have the function Priority.
Ram, I had a ba device and did the same thing and it worked just fine. I unloaded the ba device becasue its a piece of shi. Did you use resco to modify the entry key and then reboot? Tell me what you did. If you want pm me and I will walk you though the proceedure. Otherwise if you have done that its a hardware issue. Buy another device or send it in for repair.
Mike
No, fix doesn't work for me either

Hi, I created a Dword HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev\Priority256
value data Decimal "75" , then I tried many combinations and I rebooted it everytime.. None solved my issue.
Ps: It's not a hardware issue, this crackling pops up while playing the ringtone and especially while announcing the name...
Thanks for your concern..

I noticed the same thing when there are 2 sound sources going to the speaker at the same time the speaker crackles badly.. (on mine it does at least).. Otherwise, I haven't heard of this crackling till I installed Voice Command.
my BA also has this problem.
I am using VC 1.5

TP2 Microphone Problems!!!!!

I have a TP2 unbranded phone I bought of off ebay when it first came out. I have had no problems with it till two days ago. Now when I use Microsoft Voice commands I have to speak really loud into the mic for it to hear me or when I call someone I have to speak really loud before they hear me because my normal voice isn't being picked up by the phone. Its also the same if I use speakerphone. I was wondering if the audiopara3 file can be changed to fix this or if there was a registry hack or cab file to increase mic sensitivity. I have wrote other threads regarding this but not much help. So now I am offering 45 dollars to whoever fixes my problem.
Thanks.
Install this app and reboot
This should fix your prob
what app my phone has no mic right now.
try a hard reset ...
or try a different rom ...
Could be just the mic went bad
Have you tried toggling the auto volume control? (settings, all settings, system, auto volume control)

Microphone issue when making a call

Dear all, I don't want to duplicate this issue, but it seems that the issue is still there without a solution, so I beg for help once again here.
I have NAND my Kaiser with Eclair from mssmision and Myn's Donut, tried several NBH of Dzo and Polymic, but none of them works properly. Also, I have tried several radios too.
As I make a phone call, the person from the other end can hear me but with a super low volumne, why I can hear him without a problem.
In Windows mobile, everything is okay. I even tried to change the microphone but it didn't change a thing.
So if anyone know a way to come over this, or a soft to increase the microphone volumne in Android, please help me. Thanks a lot.
What do you mean you changed your microphone? Are you trying to use BT headset or you're talking about built in microphone?
I mean change the built-in microphone
It's a known issue, you also can't change the incall volume.

Win 10 Microphone Registry Entry

Hey, Guys!
I was wondering if someone would know where i can find the registry entry responsable for the mic volume?
My Lumia 930 has a issue with its microphone (the microphone recorded sound is really really low) and i thought about it and there may be a way to fix it by software, cause i don't wanna send it to the repair center.
(Oh, it's clearly a hardware problem).
(off, but related) i want to increase the amount of time the music controls stay on the screen after i press the volume rocker, been through a lot of registry entries, no luck so far. any ideas?
I had similar idea, but instead of increasing sensitivity I thought of simply changing the microphone that is used for hands-free talk from the malfunctioning top one to the bottom one. Anyone found that registry key?
use old nokia camera for video rec.
There is no such a thing like microphone listed in registry
"the microphone recorded sound is really really low" - HW fault

[[ HELP ]] Mic does not work in Voice Calls - Need Help editing mixer_paths.xml

Hello
~Fresh factory restored HTC One M8
~Already Rooted w/ ES File Explorer for editing
I have had a problem for a long time with my Microphone not working during Voice Calls (or Voice Recorder); People can't hear me unless I was to literally scream.
When I switch the call to speakerphone people can hear me just fine.
I have researched this a bunch already.. I have no idea if it is a hardware issue or something with software. (I have already tried many dust cleaning methods. Which leads me to believe it is software or noise cancellation gone wrong)
After running the audio test (*#*#3424#*#*) I have discovered the names "Main MIC" and "2nd MIC" (Not sure if the names pertain as they might be different within the system files)
My theory is that I need to edit mixer_paths.xml to swap my speakerphone mic (assumed to be 2nd Mic?) for my Main MIC, essentially removing the use of the Main MIC by the phone altogether whatever application/use it may be. However, I haven't a good enough clue of 'what is what' within the file. I have looked through it, and seen the microphone sections, but do not truly know enough to make the right corrections.
I figured Mixer_Paths was what needs editing because I could not find anything in build.prop that showed much promise (at least to my knowledge)
If someone who is a bit more familiar with the mixer_paths file could lend a hand it would greatly appreciated
Or PLEASE offer any suggestions of what other fixes might be worth a shot. I have tried a lot so far with ZERO luck
I'll leave this initial post as it is now, any questions or missing information from my end just let me know and I will gladly provide
-Cheers
