[Q] Freez on booting - HTC Wildfire S

Hello. I have a problem with flashing roms. First of all, i do everything like it should be done. I know because i have android for 2 years now.
The problem is. Every time i flash a OC kernel "sense" rom, my device cant bootup. At first, it just get stuck at the htc logo. Then if i try to start up again, i get to the set up. And it just get stuck again. Sometimes i am even fast enough to skip setup and try to lower the cpu clock. I even get there but it just freeze again. Min-two max! Now, i am currently running Cm7 and on 768mhz(806 freeze sometimes). Working great. But its just not as "good" as htc made sense is. Ive tried every rom there is, and...yeah...you get the point...
I contacked a few of ppl that made those roms, but they all say "i cant help you" at the end of conversation...
I think there are few other people with the same issue. So, you will not be just helping me.
Sorry if i made some grramar mistakes i am not British...
Htc wfs EU s-ON. Unlocked bootloader.
Thanks for your help! Cheers

You could try flash a sense rom, followed by a stock kernel before booting. This should be stable but it means that you will loose support for the additional features they add. I think m1nd******* has a patch for his rom that makes it only clock to stock speed, could be worth trying

Thanks

Ok, i did that. Its working. Now, i saw i can oc manually after this. Do i have to disable no-frills first? Now is 120-600 smass2.
And, thanks, its working. But only this rom... This is sad. And if devs put their rom to startup with 600, will it mean that i can boot it? Then its really bad for me they put 806 as stock, im guessing im not the only one with this problem. Just put 600 as stock, after you can set cpu as u like/need... Just a though...

G2 constantly resetting itself after installing G2-Fast Kernel

Hello All,
I fear I may have bricked my phone.
After installing the G2-Fast Kernel, my phone constantly resets itself to the HTC logo screen, goes black as if to load the OS, then resets itself again.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to boot into recovery? I can't seem to find any info on how to do this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Nevermind. I just installed Baconbits and I got my phone back up and running again.

Macarony,
No Sense ROM. I was just running a the stock ROM and I had it OC'd to 1.4ghz, but I decided I wanted to give the 1.9ghz a shot, but it just made my phone power cycle incessantly.
I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to all this flashing/modding/rooting/romming, so I wasn't 100% as to what I was doing
Do you have any suggestions in terms of which custom ROMs I might want to install?

RUU.exe(for stock rom) won't do anything, stays at sending.

Hey all,
I wanted to S-OFF my phone but found ot later that I need a rooted stock rom. I've flashed it yesterday and gone back to MIUI but today it stays at 'Sending......' and won't do anything, my phone has this metalic HTC logo and nozhing happens, I can always abort it and no harm will be done, but it's weird since I can't return to stock ROM now, anyone might help me?
@Edit, Wow that was really stupid, the only thing wrong was that the USB "port" didn't worked, tried in the one I used yesterday and worked just nice, sorry for this thread, a moderator can freely close it.
but you don't even have to use a stock rom lol, most ROMs work for it anyway.
And by rooted stock, that doesn't mean RUU and re root ha ha

[Q] Problem with Rom: RevolutioN 1.7

OK, so I am not new to the xda desire scene,
(Despite the fact that I can't post in the rom development thread regarding this issue)
I have tried installing this Rom in as many different ways as I can over the past 3 hours:
Using EXT3 rather that EXT4
Changing Hboots
Making sure that I have got the correct download (a2sd+/D++)
Wiping a billion times over
etc etc.
HOWEVER no matter what I do I cannot get this Rom to function
When I boot up for the first time, I just get a wallpaper and notification bar.
No touch screen response/button response.
Only the power button works as a method of turning the screen on/off
I assume from experience at this point in first boot HTC's setup program
(or whatever it is) should start and guide me through
linking up accounts/inputting Wifi keys etc.
I have scoured the rom thread and others regarding rom problems and nobody seems to have had this problem of the Setup manager not starting.
As nice as the Gingerbread Screen On/Off animation is I would prefer to do abit more with my phone
I hope I have posted in the right section and I would very much appreciate it if anyone who has had this experience could help me fix this problem and get a working phone...
(ps. The Rom looks very good, if only I could get it working)
First of all try to redownload the rom!!!
And double check the md5

Hey Thanks guys, but..... I re-downloaded the ROM both versions 1.5 and 1.7 (since 1.5 is thought to be more stable) :/ and get stuck at exactly the same place :SSS I'm am abit baffled since I change Rom's alot and have never experienced this before
Did you wipe dalvik? btw your sd card partion need to be at least 1 gigabyte. It worked for me i had same issue as you. First post on XDA
My first installation of 1.7 didnt work and I had to pull the battery and I thought the same thing was happening with my second try, as the screen just went blank after all the crazy changing shapes that happen during boot. However once I touched the power button the setup menu appeared.
I thought this was strange as every other ROM I have tried went straight from the boot animation to the phone starting without the screen blanking out. I know this doesn't help solve your problem but it might mean something to somebody else, who can then help you further.
ps I have been running the ROM for the past week and I haven't had a screen freeze yet. Which has been a revelation for me, as every other ROM ive tried has been really bad for this.

[Q] Help needed for installing custom ROM

Hello.
I am not a developer however I would like to have my HTC DESIRE HD working on this particular ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255319. . The download links are all outdated or broken. Is there a chance that someone already have this ROM and could make me a tutorial on how to instal and how to make everything running properly to install this ROM? My device is already S-OFF, I tried to root my device several times by tutorials but it didn't work, only S-OFF did.
Best regards and thank you for help.
This rom is built quite long time ago. I used it before as a daily driver but after some time, random reboot starts to happen. At some point i can say that the device have chances to reboot everytime u wake the device up. At least thats my experience with that rom. Not sure about others.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if there's a ROM similar to that at least the theme like the Android 4.0 or later?

Anyone else experiencing painfully long boot times after 4.4.3?

I'm on 100% stock. just rooted. the boot times are really long. I got really worried, so I flashed firmware and everything 100% back to stock. But the long booting times are still there. Just to be sure, I tried rebooting even before rooting (in case rooting was the cause :silly: ) but that wasn't the case. And yes, I have fastboot on.
Other than that, there is no anomaly, phone is working 100% fine, no overheating, no battery drain, nothing. I only had the phone for nearly a month before getting the update, so it might be just me not noticing reboots took this long before too?
Anyone else experiencing it?
Not sure if it's the same thing but I seem to have very long boot times now aswell. I was testing a GPE Rom for a while and went back to sense. Booting now takes at least 5 minutes. Just sits at the white HTC bootscreen until screen turns off and then it works fine. Going back to a GPE Rom seems to fix the problem

Update your firmware and it should work. I have sprint so i was able to find the updated firmware through their forums. I originally thought they were bad flashes, but let it wait one time, it took almost 5 mins to load up. After I updated my firmware to the latest, it worked normally again with fast boot up. On a side note on 4.4.3 roms, I used to think my old bluetooth keyboard didnt work on aosp or gpe roms, and only on sense. Once I updated my rom to a 4.4.3 sense rom, the bluetooth keyboard stopped working on that too. Getting a new bluetooth keyboard today so I will test it out.

Same here. I don't think its a problem related to hardware or software. Just, the boot time is longer. Just that. It is a very huge relief to know that someone else is experiencing it too. I've checked everything I can, and there seems to be nothing wrong while it takes long to boot. It doesn't effect the usage at all too. It isn't a bug, just a little annoyance in case you like devices to speedily boot up.
@memekmek Did that too. I flashed firmware, and everything thoroughly checking my procedure. Nothing seems to be broken anyway, I just wanted to check if others have it too or is it me?

How do you flash firmware when you're not S-Off and do you already have latest firmware for your region (vodap something as I read in other thread)

I used the firmware provided by mike1986 in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696282 ... It said that if I have S-ON, I should at least not be able to brick my device...
[I'm actually a 1000% noob in tech, and wrote only what I thought I was doing. I'm sure I must've been wrong. your reply just actually makes sense!]. I didn't want to ask each question on each step, and not bother with my lack of knowledge so I tried to write as much as I understood myself.
I guess it means that my firmware flash was a failure, and that itself is the culprit That clears out a million of my worries.
A little selfish favor to ask of you. Can you kindly direct me to any carrier-specific firmware download place (If there's any!). I'll check it whenever vodap001 firmware comes.
Thanks
