Screen touch input issue - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Got the phone less then 2 weeks ago, screen is having problem. Thought it was the screen protector / case doing it, because it started acting up the moment after I applied a diztronic case with the screen protector is came with. The very top right seems to be glitching as if some touch input is being made, and moving sporadically up and down. When that happens, I cant really do anything other then turning it off and back on, to which it'll happen eventually.

Has anyone ever heard of this issue?

[Q] Screen Defect?

I wanted to know if anybody else has experienced this or if perhaps my screen is defective. I have been using swype for some time now. I noticed that if I hold my phone at an angle to the light with the screen turned off I can see what appears to be 2 smudge lines across the screen near the bottom where I have been swyping. I thought okay I need to clean the screen. I cleaned the screen and it is still there. I had a screen protector on and removed it because I thought it was problem but it is the actual screen.

Fix for multi touch issues

I had the same problems with multi touch as others have stated before, I also posted this fix in the other thread but that one turned out to be more about the wifi issues which I do not have.
About a week ago I installed the Rootzboat ROM on my phone, and after that my multi touch issues went away. I could now play shooting games! But, at the same time I also put an otterbox case on it and didn't think anything of it. Yesterday i took the case off while I was playing a game and the issues reappeared--I could no longer use both the right and left corners for input. I turned the screen off and put the case back on, the issue disappeared once again. So, if you're having the problem try putting an otterbox or some other thick screen protector and case on it.
I think the solution comes from the thick plastic screen protector which comes attached to the case (and is not actually applied to the screen) is lowering the capacitance readings for the phone (probably because of the distance). So the solution may lie in the driver software. Anyways just my 2 cents.

[Q] Possible Screen Failing??

I tried to search for screen fail, but no luck.
Here's my scenario...phone sitting on flat surface (wooden desk). Occasionally, I feel a vibrate, through the desk, when I turn the phone on, it starts flipping through the touchwiz screens, and vibrating pulses like someone is touching the screen. I don't really believe in ghosts...but?? LOL
Has anyone else experienced "phantom touches" on their home screen ??
Also, sometimes when in the middle of a text, it'll jump to the home screen as well.
THoughts???
One time when I got my screen wet it started doing stuff like that. Have you gotten it wet at all? If not I would take it back to sprint or maybe if you are rooted try a different rom or even odining back to stock to see if that helps. If you decide to take it back to sprint though make sure you un root it because they will laugh in your face and say your the one that messed it up by rooting.
I've seen this issue somewhere here in the Q & A before. I don't know if it was this exact post but similar issues:

Happened to my Droid Incredible after taking a swim in the toilet bowl
Thanks guys...never been wet. Ever!!
I've been having the same issues for about 2 months now. I think the only solution is to get a replacement

In call screen keeps coming on?

Hey guys. My brother just got this phone and is having some issues. .. He's coming from Lumia 922.. So it shouldn't be too hard to impress him .. right? Well so far he has gone into airplane mode every call he's taken because the screen won't sleep and his cheek toggles to airplane mode. Is there any setting to help this? I want to give him a chance to like this phone, but if you can't even comfortably make a call without worrying about accidentally bumping the button maybe he needs to trade it ...
Any advice would be appreciated.
Does he have a screen protector on it? Sometimes those mess with the proximity sensor and makes the screen stay on.

I have a somewhat similar issue. I returned my first phone because I thought the proximity sensor wasn't working. I would be speaking on the phone, press my face to the screen and then would hear an ear shattering beep and then then phone would switch to speaker phone. This happened several times. I did have a screen protector on the phone but removed it. It continued even after I removed the protector.
I swapped the phone for a new one and all was fine for the first several days. Yesterday the problem started again. And, no, no screen protector this time.
I've noticed this with this phone, as well. I have a screen protector, but it doesn't cover the proximity sensor. That's in the metal above the screen, I doubt anyone's screen protector would affect it.
Sometimes when my face is literally pressed against the phone, and by proxy the proximity sensor, the screen still comes on and I can see it out of the corner of my eye. While it happened occasionally with my other phones, this has happened more in the week and a half I've had this phone than a couple months with the others. I think it might be a defect in the model if others are having this issue.
I've also had it turn on the speakerphone for no reason even when it's pressed against my face. Don't know if that's part of the issue or not.

Well it's nice to hear that I am not the only one having this issue, but frustrating that I am too. . If anyone finds settings or a solution let me know. . It's definitely annoying.
Must be a limited issue. Haven't heard of this from anyone I know and I have yet to have the issue.
I think I may have figured out my problem. I had an "el cheapo" TPU case (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Transparent...r-for-HTC-One-2013-M7-Accessory-/330949139388) on the phone. Today I put 3 different callers on speakerphone & mute simultaneously. Took the case off and haven't had a problem since.

Touchscreen responsiveness X screen protectors

Have been using this phone as a backup phone for a while and now I'm gonna give it to my grandfather. Since he is 79 years old, a bit careless, I purchased a screen protector.
It's the typical 0.3mm shatter proof 9h but the problem is: I can barely pull the notification bar and the phone just feel like not responding at all.
You must press harder on the screen, at times with two fingers running down the screen to pull the notifications, typing is a nightmare. Since it completely lost the sensitivity, it feels like the phone is slow or freezing up but it's not the case. I'm pretty sure if I take the screen protector off it comes back to normal. Funny enough, if you run a touchscreen test, it works just fine by just lightly touching it.
The touchscreen is awesome without it, I used to play some minor games on this phone. It was my daily phone for walking and listening to music, I switched back to my Nokia 930 because I don't think my grandpa would be able to use a Windows Phone lol.
Has anyone experienced this kind of issue before? Don't think the phone will last long naked just like his Moto G4. (two weeks with a shattered screen then completely dead)
Should I purchase another screen protector?
