[Q] simlock - HTC Wildfire S

hi all
model: wildfire S A510e locked to orangeUK
Q... I have manged to unlock the hboot using this guide :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432474 as htcdev didnt work i still have s-on not rooted but i want to unlock to all networks is this possible? or perhaps just to unlock to o2uk
thanks

Xtc clip is the only solution.
Unless you do it through orange which will cost you more and wont give you s-off.
Find a good mobile shop and it should cost you about £10 and you'll be s-off too.

Yeah I thought as much thanks for the support

A newbie needs help?

I've just bought the Wildfire S for a week, and after a while reading threads in here, i have a question: Is the Wildfire S, along with other HTC phones with a S letter and the Sensation, have a new bootloader that prevent us from S-offing and rooting, and the solution is getting a XTC clip (now), the AlpharevX or other tools (future), or HTC remove the barrier?
Can someone tell me is that true?

New phones should no longer come with a locked bootloader (s-on vs s-off). I highly doubt that HTC will release updates for phones that have already been distributed to resellers, so for those phones your only option is to use either an XTC clip (works for all htc models) or AlphaRevX (only works on a select few models).
After unlocking the bootloader you can root any of the HTC phones.
XTC clip is the only option to unlock the phone to allow rooting. There may be an update in the future where HTC unlock the bootloaders and I believe the S range will be unlocked.
And there is a possibility that the alpharevx team are working on the wildfire s

Clearing doubts

Hi friends,
Ok, I am a newbie. I have these questions.
I have brought the desire second hand in India. It says t-mobile at startup splash, so I gather its a branded mobile but I can use Indian (Airtel) sim. So its network unlocked. It's stock with following detail.
Pvt IV s-on
Hboot .093
Baseband 32.49.00.32U
Radio 5.11.05.27
Software 2.12.110.4
My question is
Do I need goldcard ?
Can I use WWE ruu without goldcard
After rooting and custom Rom should it again need to be network unlocked
Any help is greatly appreciated. Besides these points any suggestions are also welcome.
Thanks.

You will need a goldcard as it is a T-Mobile branded phone

[Q] S-OFF?

Hello,
I have a Wildfire S a510e unlocked with HTC Unlocked (code).
Put m1ndh4x8r rom on it and is working great.
Now ive read some time ago that S-OFF was only possible with a XTC-Clip
But since the bootloader is unlocked, does that mean that S-OFF is possible in other ways?
Or do i still need a XTC Clip to do so?
I want S-OFF to change my boot screen
I did search some topics but cant find the exact answer (yes/no).
Thanks.
You still need XTC Clip to get S-OFF
Have you tried this tutorial? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308169 don't think you need s-off

Looks to me like it requires S-OFF. The people who couldn't get it to work all had S-ON.

Unlock

Can anybody tell me if the giffgaff SIM unlock tool works or do I need to buy a code ?

The only way to unlock is via a s-off bootloader. If you pm me a link to giffgaff unlock too I will have a look. I am on giffgaff and it worked with my DHD before I unlocked mine.
My DHD was with orange. So the chances are if you have a CID of HTC__001 it will work without a code or unlock tool.

S-OFF and simunlock are different. You can always sim unlock your device with the IMEI code provided by your carrier without even being S-OFF. The fact is that everyone relates S-OFF to sim unlock because both are gained by gfree exploit.
I suggest reading first all the possible documentation / information to avoid misleading posts or suggestions.
