every custom rom i flash doesnt ever boot! whats going on? ive tried all three now and have never got boot from any of them. i have a nandroid so i can always revert to my original and that boots just fine. any ideas??
See my reply in my ROM thread. Did you restore baseband.img, boot.img, and also firmware.img as instructed in the unbrick thread?
Try this
1. Unbrick, boot into Korean ROM, root, flash CWM
2. Boot into CWM and fire up adb shell
3. Restore the baseband.img, boot.img, and firmware.img
4. Flash one of the ROMs (DON'T FORMAT /DATA OR FACTORY RESET)
If you want to clear /data before flashing, in CWM, first mount /data, then in adb shell in recovery, run "rm -rf /data/*"
Be sure to wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache before flashing the ROMs
thanks man but still didnt work.. bootloops with ANY custom rom only thing that works is my nandroid backup
Did you upgrade your CWM? Once your upgrade your CWM to the newest one you won't have this problem anymore.
how do i do this??
I had the same problem for awhile also. I had to use the unbrick and restore all img files. Then installed cwm and finally flashed the custom roms via the instructions by rom creator. Everything worked fine after. No more bootloops and custom rom works just fine.

Just curious, have you tried power down the phone yet? (I'd suggest do a backup prior that attempt)...
There are quiet a few people including myself who can't power off the phone without boot loop afterwards...

So, I was running CM9 with D2SD but wanted to remove it because I was getting some problems so I tried to restore my backup with the normal CM9. It didn't restore properly. I then thought that anyways the internal member is very low on CM9 then I should try out MTDPartition. I forgot to edit the txt file which is using while flashing CM7 . It installed but didn't pass the boot screen. I tried flashing again but no use. So I downloaded CWM again and flashed it. Then tried installing CM7. Didn't install! So I flashed CWM again and tried with MTD. It installed.
Everything was working normally. I wanted to flash a theme so I rebooted into recovery and flashed that theme (Which I was using since over a month). It just didn't start my phone then.
Now everytime I reboot, my phone starts the boot screen and then suddenly gets stuck and restarts again. This happens again and again. I tried flashing CM7 and CM9 again but same thing happens always
Please HELP!
Have you tried installing CWM recovery again?
I would recommend, install CWM again, then run superwipe, then MAKE SURE YOU REBOOT INTO RECOVERY (NOT REBOOT SYSTEM), then flash your rom again.
(thanks to blueridge wfs team for the sharing superwipe script).
Before flashing your rom, did you perform the following steps?
1. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
2. Wipe Cache
3. Wipe Dalvik
If not, try to do that first, then flash your rom.
What I did:
Flashed new rom (it loaded up no problem)
Rebooted into recovery
Did a Darkside cache wipe
Installed Gapps
Phone wouldnt boot...
Booted into recovery... attempted to Darskide Superwipe (to clear everything and try installing again)
Phone hangs on the wipe and doesnt finish... have to pull battery
Tried just doing a system wipe from the CWM menu..... phone hangs and doesnt finish....
Panicked... Tried restoring a nandroid I had....... restore seems to be working until it gets to "Restoring Cache..." Then it hangs and nothing happens.... sitting at this screen afraid to do a battery pull.....
Please HELP... what the hell did I do
****************UPDATE: Seem to have fixed the issue... Grabbed a flashable zip of CWM.... reinstalled CWM... Rebooted recovery... Am now able to flash superwipe and roms etc. Thank god. Seems to be working fine now
What recovery are you using? If you're using CWM 6xxx, you don't, and shouldn't, need to use the Darkside wipes! You only need to use that if you are on CWM 5.xxx, using it on a higher version causes issues, mainly with people who don't know proper manual wipe procedures.
Solution, change your recovery, do all your wipes, flash rom and reboot.
Edit, are you trying to use Cyanogen Mod?
Short Questions: when I flash any ROM, besides official AOKP, my phone goes into bootloop. I'm using CWM. I do a factory reset/cache etc. then flash the new ROM, i.e. stock koodo, but they all just boot loop.
Long Story: I used to have a samsung galaxy ace, and I followed the same persedure, with CWM, and it always worked. I used CWM on my tablet, but the other touch recover has given me problems and never really worked correctly, it wouldn't even install properly. I prefer CWM. From searching around, there is some super wiper, or infamus whiper that clean the phone properly from the recover before flashing. I'm not sure if we're supose to use that before I flash a new ROM, maybe that's why its bootlooping?
What do you do before you flash a ROM? I know the ROM OP have instructions, but they end in a bootloop too.
I believe you have to be more specific if you want to get help, like the version of CWM, ROM you are trying to install and steps you are taking to insall the ROM.
Click mounts & storage, format system/data, yes. Then do all your other wiping like data and caches. Then flash ROM followed by gapps.

You are not formatting system before installing a different base(ROM).
If you format system, data, cache, and delvik you should be good to go.
My Xperia ZL won't allow me to install a custom ROM.
Here are the steps I've taken.
1. Updated to 10.6.... (Lollipop fw) via Flashtool
2. Boots correctly, everything seems to work.
3. Flashed boot.img from Paranoid Android and went into TWRP to flash the ROM zip (wiped cache, system and data before).
Did step 3 to test the same for OmniRom too.
4. Phone boots, shows Bootanimation, shows Optimizing apps, then hangs after finish and does step 4 again.
Please help me, I could install custom ROMs on the device before, suddenly it does not work anymore.
Note: EVERYTHING works fine with Stock. Flashed stock ftf multiple times and tried these steps.
Thanks for your help
It seems to be a Bootloop. Try below steps;
1. Through TWRP wipe (system+cache+dalvic cache+data+android secure)
2. Install ROM.zip
3. Wipe cache+dalvic cache+data
4. Reboot
Hope the above steps helps you
Regards,
hitman-xda
@hitman-xda I've tried these steps, except for android secure.
What is that partition and what does it do?
Cannot find it in Advanced Wipe of TWRP.
Thanks
It is the mysterious part. Actually no one knows about it. Some says, it contains secured links/data of some apps.
If you are clean flashing ROM, that's means you have to wipe everything except storage part. That's the reason I mentioned it.
If you can't find it, just leave it
@hitman-xda So I've already done what you suggested, with no luck.
Guess I'm stuck on stock till someone helps me
Thanks for your reply
did you install de correct kernel?
maybe you should wipe everything, install the correct kernel and after that, install the custom ROM
i don't now if it will work, but at least try
I did fastboot flash boot boot.img (got it from ROM zip)
Then erased everything and flashed ROM.
No luck
Does that Paranoid Android was built for your phone?
Your phone loops from 'optimizing apps' , that means your phone is unable to load dalvic/art for the apps.
Also check weather PA ROM can be flashed over lollipop, if not then you have to downgrade an then try the same procedure.
Also you can download stock kernel with recovery, flash it and then directly try to flash your respective ROM.
Usually ROM.zip contains kernel and get flashed during installation of zip, just the thing is they can be flashable over some selective android versions.
Hello,
It sure has been a while since I've posted in this forums. I am having some trouble on my phone. Here's the story: I was on MIUI 7, but didn't like the way it was handling memory. It kept closing apps even when there were only 3 running, so I decided to restore a previous CM backup. So, I did that and rebooted the phone. It gave an error saying that "Encryption was interrupted", yet I have never encrypted my phone. Anyway, I decided to flash CM12 with a zip I had. Rebooted, and same problem occurred. Now, I'm trying to reboot phone into recovery, but whenever I do, the screen goes black and re-displays the teamwin logo, and just does that over and over. I tried flashing recovery through fastboot, but same problem. Is my phone savable? It should be, as it isn't hard-bricked. Any help is appreciated!
How do you solve this problem? When I flash CM12, the phone repeat reboot and can't enter recovery. At last I flash the Omini ROM.
Just flash stock rom
flash stock recovery.. go to wipe data and cache.. it will work.. if not try restoring partition with the stock recovery..
you can find stock recovery in oppo community

Thanks, I solved the stock recovery. And wipe data and cache, but still can't flash CM rom. At last, I flash the Omini rom. Problem is it often prompt me "Storage space running out".
Try flashing oppo's stock recovery
You can only instal oppo's rom (I.e. ColorOS) in that recovery.. First you have to flash TWRP recovery and then instal the CM rom.. This will work perfectly fine, but in some case like the above the rom would not boot into CM or whatever custom ROM.. In that case you have to instal OPPO's stock recovery to make it work..
And also the insufficient storage problem can be solved by OPPO's stock recovery by using partition - restore partition..
