[Need to confirm] Next/Previous song by OEM Earphone with Windows Phone - Windows Phone 7 General

Okay, so far This is the list:
2nd Gen Windows Phone (Confirmed to be able to skip the song)
- HTC Titan
- Samsung Omnia W (Update 6/11/12)
1st Gen Windows Phone:
- Samsung Omnia 7
- LG Optimius 7
- Samsung Focus
- LG Quantum (Updated 6/11/12)
Devices Confirmed that is not working ( maybe OEM will update the firmware later?)
- HTC Arrive
- HTC Trophy
- HTC HD7 + HTC HD7S (Updated 6/9/12)
...............................................................
Alright, most people was complain that they can't get to the next song while they go mobile with the phone ( hook up the earbuds doing something else).
I was kinda on the same side until today.
Yesterday, a friend of mine at Infinity Ward (yes IW - MW series) , said that he sent me a Munitio MW3 Edition Earphone
And when i read the review over the Munitio, they mention that the earphone is equipped with mic, and cappable to go next song by double click the mic button, triple click to go previous.
My first thought was like : "Alright, that is cool, don't know if i can do the same with my Titan". Then i picked my Titan , hook it up with the OEM HTC Earphone and give it a try. And I really surprised that i was able to skip to next song , just by double click the "Call/Pause" button, and triple click for going Previous.
I bing and google around XDA and seem that people might not know this trick! I bing around and found an article on WIndows Phone Ask from MS ( i forgot the link), and someone said that all standard headphones nowday are able to do that. So i really suggest people to try with your OEM Earbuds, try the combination of keys on the Earbuds, because i have seen a few people able to skip to next song on Samsung Omnia 7 by double click the "Volume +" button.
I am not really sure it would work on all device, so i just encourage you guys to try. I confirm myself that the Titan would work.

Nokia Pure Monster headset also supports all the Music features (Play/pause,forward,backward) on all WP7 devices (including other than Lumia phones)

Tried with HTC headphones that came with my Trophy, it does not work. Same goes for the iPhone earphones with Mic and volume controls. I think track skipping is for 2nd gen phones only?

Works on Lg Optimus 7 earphones. Thanks

Not all phones. Won't work with my Trophy.

I am gonna upload a quick video to demonstrate how this thing work on Titan.

There are already video's of this on the web, i saw one with the lumia 800. iPhone has had this functionality for years.

okay...

For someone that you don't know how to do this.

My Samsung Focus could do this as well as my HTC Titan. The Focus was OEM earbuds. The Titan was some Chinese Dre beats.

Cant skip on my HTC Arrive.Pretty sure ONLY 2nd gen HTC windows phone(titan and maybe the radar) can do this. But first gen HTC Windows phone(trophy, arrive etc...) cant

Yeah no 1st gen HTC windows phone are compatible.I tried also with my friend HTC Surround didn't work.

Does anyone know why 1st Gen HTC windows phone cant skip?Is it a software or hardware thing?

Nokia Lumia 800 can skip tracks prev/next with Samsung Omnia7 earbuds

They enabled it retroactively on the iPhone so it could just be software, but we'll never know unless HTC do it.

Maybe it's just HTC. 1st gen Samsung phones DO support this feature. I use it all the time with my Omnia 7

Works great on HTC titan with generic one button cheap earbuds. For those that couldn't get it to work, did you click it rapidly twice and 3 for previous? i found you have to do it very fast but it does work.

yeah, beacause when you go previous, it would go back to the start of the current song, you must press another 3 times, in less than first 3-4 secs of the song to go to the previous song.
You must do the samething if you touch the previous button the screen also.

Hi!
Have you tried it out yet? I sow some people complaining about software compatibility, that it only let you control Windows Media Player. Does anybody know if this remote let you control the HTC AudioManger application, as this is a much better MP3 player than the old WMP.
Regards,
PK
Dear,
I just take it from this web, and I found It's can used with 2 program
1 is WMP and the other is HTC Audio Manager(but you need install drive that come with package). It's very good smalltalk and remote control but I used p800w It's can't used HTC Audio booster, that made me sad because I like Bass Boost.
Have Any one have Base Boost that can used and work with p800w?
Thanks a lot.

Hi, it sort of works. When I got the package, there was a sticker over the supported models - the O2 Xda Orbit was "not" supported. As I had changed the ROM to the HTC generic version, I loaded the drivers and plugged it in. The adapter works, and I can use normal headphones BUT none of the buttons on the remote function with the O2 XDA
The Artemis and the XDA may just be that little bit different (more than just the case) which may be why they put a sticker over the supported models info. By the way, it was sold as an Artemis accessory and not an O2 XDA accessory, so I cant really send it back.
Therefore, if anyone in the UK has an Artemis (not an O2 XDA) and wants the adapter, they can buy it off me for £15 plus postage. It is brand new, used once, in its original box with driver disk. If you want to pay by PayPal, it's £2 extra to cover the fees, otherwise NOCHEX or direct bank transfer.

no, they are the same phone, hardware wise. I have the remote and a O2 XDA Orbit and it works. You just need to install the HTC Audo Driver update for the P3300. Otherwise, the remote won't work when the phone switches off to save power. This stupid bug affects all apps, including in the middle of a phone conversation. I think that is mainly the reason for the audio driver update. I don't have the HTC Audio Manager, anyone know how I can get hold of it?
The remote works with WMP. It also works with the FM Radio app, pressing play mutes it (rather than the mute button on the side), volume control (not the main phone volume) works, FF/FR switches between preset stations.
The green/red phone buttons works even when running other apps like TomTom or TCPMP. But non of the other soft buttons can be mapped to functions in TCPMP or any other program for that matter as they don't exist like your average hardware buttons on the phone itself. So as a result, you can't assign a button to activate Voice Dial or Voice Command.
The other problem is more to do with the new ExtMiniUSB port. I cannot charge the phone while I listen to the radio or mp3s for that matter! Compare to older generations of HTC phones which has a mini usb + separate 2.5mm headphone socket, this is quite stupid as I believe many ppl charge their phone via USB at work and also listen to the mp3s.
Ok, i was wondering why HTC was giving such strange answers about the useless power consumption.
HTC > (there will be no update to solve this, because it is not knowing issue.)???
Its strange behavior in my opinion when the phone wakes up completely after touching one of the buttons and never goes to sleep again. Not even switches the screen off. It uses more energy that way.
I’ve made a application for this problem just to switch the screen completely off after using the buttons on the remote. It runs in the background and waits for a change in the SystemPowerState. When the backlight dims it will switch of the screen after 1 second.
I can’t prevent the device from waking up but this works good enough.
Next step is to hook in to the remote interface driver and make the buttons act like normal devicebuttons so it would be possible to use another MP3 player. But I ‘m afraid my knowledge about this is not enough. Maybe someone can help me with that.

Oh well, sorry to hear that didn't help. I received my remote on the 17th, noticed it didn't work too well even after installing the driver that came with the remote. Then found the news that Audio Driver Update was release on the 16th so I got the download and it worked from then on.
it tries to you works in stereo
Works fine
I'm been using the rc for 2 weeks now and one must say it's working exactly the way I expected it to. The only lil hitch is the missing "stand-by" so you waste some amount of battery.
Maybe it's possible to check with a small service whether Audio Manager is running in playback mode and react e.g. with turning of background lights.
I'll give it a try next week in office (need my VS).
Anybody with experience?
wold you recommend one then?

HTC's stupid headphone/power socket combo & ultimatum
Dear HTC,
Please, if your are not the appropriate person to be considering my email, pass it on to someone who can adequately able to address my concerns.
Briefly, I am a huge fan of HTC handsets, having been a the proud owner of no less than 5 different models in the last 3 years.
My particular issue is with the HTC TYTN and TYTN II (or Kaiser) models. I am far from alone in this concern, as a simple Google search will reveal, so I am not going to waste time justifying myself. I'll launch immediately into the criticism and the request for an explanation, etc...
2 years ago, my first TYTN had to be replaced after 3 months because the ill-conceived combo-headphone-power mini USB socket became faulty. After 13 months it became faulty again. Since it was out of guarantee, i had to repair it myself. A month later however, when the socket once again broke, I installed a separate headphone socket in the side of the case myself, it was easy... TOO easy...
Since then my original TYTN has been fine.
A few weeks ago, I purchased the new TYTN II or Kaiser. I knew beforehand that the headphone and power sockets were once again the same. However, I assumed that they would have been strengthened due to the bad pres the previous model had received over this issue.
I was sadly mistaken. Within 3 weeks I have had to replace my TYTN II after the headphones started crackling when I moved the headphone cable. After examination, the mini-USB socket is IDENTICAL to the original TYTN,and bending in the same way. I have now stopped recommending this phone to people due to this. Either you don't intent users of this handset to use headphones, or you dont care that the socket isn't up to the job!
Considering that I influence thousands of people through my website in their choice of hanset upgrades, I am sure that HTC will feel the financial blow of my decision, at least slightly.
My questions are as follows:
1.) Why, after all the bad press the initial single connector design got, did HTC decide to do exactly the same stupid thing with the Kaiser (TYTN II)?
2.) Are you prepared to issue me, free of charge, with a a
brand new model, with a SEPARATE headphone socket, for which I will write an article in the magazine I work for singing your praises and recommending your improved Kaiser II, with the separate stereo headphone socket?
I formally give you 7 days to reply to my satisfaction, considering I have spent nearly £1000 with you. Failing to do so will result in a loss of revenue to yourselves totaling at least many hundreds of thousands of dollars/pounds.
Sincerely
Lawrence Bowen
Those with the remote who want to save power when using it as an mp3 player, use MortSaver. basicall you can set it to turn screen off after a predetimend time. Therfore every time you use your remote, it normally turns on the sreen, and never turns off wasting battery whlle its sitting in your pocket.
Mort saver turns if off again after each use of the remote, so you can leave it in your pocket with the knowledge you are not draining you battery.
now Ill I need is some equalizer I can use with Mediaplayer!

The best smart watch for the One X

I was initially intending to purchase Sony's Smartwatch, but am concerned by it's compatibility with the One X - does anyone here own both products?

Let's wait
This one is VERY expensive!!!
I think I'm going to wait for the Pebble smartwatch as an ultimatum, and if something worthy comes out in the meantime, I'll get it.
The sony smartwatch DOES work just fine with the HTC One X, but it does not support email notification for HTC's email app as each vendor makes their own email app. I am sure at some point someone will come up with an HTC compatible notifier as it has an open API. Someone has written one for Gmail.

I know every technology needs it's first users... But isn't this a little soon for that type of things ?
My points are :
- My new One X with a quadcore, a camera,etc... will be thinner than my watch
- Having to reload it every night or so will be a pain
- It's ridiculously expensive
- What will it bring ? If you see you have a mail or a SMS, you'll check it on the large beautiful screen of your phone
(BUT, if they were less expesive, I'd definitively buy one of thoose )
Yep I ordered the Pebble, I know people with the Sony Smartwatch and the imWatch, which are ust too big and need frequent charging. The Pebble is most importantly a watch with other functions secondary.

Klipsch Image X10i buttons will not work

I have tried everything mentioned. I can get the middle button to work but the the top and bottom does not seem to register at all. I tried the headset droid app. It had a test function for buttons. The middle was recognized but the other two nothing. If I look at the socket when putting the headphones in it does not seat all the way leaving one of the black ring out and not connected. The way the plug hole is angled could be causing this issue. This is probably not the issue however since the provided earphone stick out and show the black ring as well.
I moved from my iPhone 4 and this is the only issue that I can't solve. After spending $350 for these headphones. I would love to get them working fully with my HOX.
Any new approaches that somebody has tried?
Thanks
AFIAK most headphones/earphones are made for iphone/ipods. I had this issue with beats solo hds before, I think it was because the controls were made specifically to work with iphones/ipods and the volume buttons wont be working, on android it's different most earphones/headphones with remote has skipping buttons instead of volume buttons, I got beats solo with my htc one x in a premium pack and the control works perfectly I connected it to someone else's iPhone and only the middle button worked. So whatever earphone/headphone is made for iphones/ipods then the volume buttons wont work with android, but whatever earphones/headphones that does NOT say it is made for iphones/ipods and has skipping buttons instead of volume buttons, it will work for android but not for iphones/ipods. I hope this makes sense to you

galaxy note 2 and bluetooth car stereo

im trying to purchase a car stereo that has bluetooth hands free calling and is able to play music streamed from my galaxy note 2.
the salesman said however, that he cant guarantee any of the stereo units would work correctly with the bluetooth 4.0 that the note 2 uses.
...has anyone had any problems connecting to their car stereo, or can recommend a model that will work with the note 2 ?
thanks in advance.
I have a JVC navigation all in one and it works great with it.
It's a 2011 model.
yup, i have a flip screen with bluetooth and it connects perfectly, i have a full system btw, woofer, speekers amp the lot.
thanks guys .. any links for those models if possible?
If you want something literally cheap as chips, try one of these from Halfords.
I know it won't appeal to an audiophile, but if you're the sort of person who's generally happy with the manufacturer supplied head units, one of these would be a more than adequate replacement, and works fine with the Note II.
Regards,
Dave
bluetooth 4.0 is backward compatibility with all the older versions. So it works !!!!!!!!!!! No problem watsoever. The car salesman should get his facts straight or quit the job
Kenwood has problems
I have a DNX7190HD and the Note 2 will not work with the Pandora app at all through bluetooth. It will play Pandora through the Bluetooth menu option of the head unit but you will not get any song list or album art, but pause and play buttons do work.
Kenwood says the phone is not supported and there is no bluetooth software update coming.
Older Android phones work perfectly.

yes , it was something on those lines that my dealer was saying, and therefor couldnt guarantee any of the other makes would work untill he got some feedback.
As far as audio goes, you should be fine, as m4sta2k stated bt4.0 is backwards compatible. I have a Parrot MKi9000 handsfree installed (old one) and everything works, audio and controls. But, maybe on some radios not all the controls are supported (and also, whichever display functions it may have), as it seems that stuff is not 100% standard across all the bt devices, as opposed to audio profiles.
Best thing would be trying the radio on the store before buying it.

I have one of these and everything works perfectly. In fact the Note 2 is better at connecting automatically than my Desire HD was.

i agree with you , it connects everything perfectly.
but instead of a track listing on the headunit screen i just see AD2P ... its no big deal but if im missing a button press or something that shows the track info instead i would prefer to see it.
what does yours show when streaming from bluetooth / note 2 ?

To be honest, I've not really noticed or cared much as I'm usually streaming from Spotify and thus have the phone screen on and can see what's playing there.

Was in the car today.
Like you, it only shows A2DP on the screen and not the track. Tried with both Spotify and Google Music.
My other three BT speaker devices (2 headsets and some speakers) don't have screens so I can't say if it's the headunit or the phone.
Luckily, I don't care!

Dave

3.5 mm infrared jack.

The only thing putting me off ordering the 10 is the lack of IR blaster which I use daily on my M9 and previous HTC's.
Just found this: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/USAMS-Smart-IR-Remote-Control-3-5mm-Jack-Dust-Plug-TV-Air-Conditioner-Projector-IR-Controller/32706339597.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.117.kFGzIe&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_0,searchweb201602_2_10057_10056_10055_10049_10059_10058_10017_405_404_10060_10061_10062_412,searchweb201603_7&btsid=f4cc6649-0c62-4053-8555-0bed79623aa1
Has anyone tried something similar to this on their HTC 10 with any success?
Now that is cool. At this price I would still try it.

I'd still like to get some feedback from someone with an HTC 10 that has bought such a device and can confirm it works.
So nobody with an HTC 10 has solved the problem of it having no IR blaster it would seem?

It's not a problem. I use my TV's remote. Be nice to have, but without it it's not a life-altering event.

I use my LG App. As long as my 10 and my television are within the same Wireless LAN I simply don't need an IR blaster any longer

I was disappointed with the removal of the IR Blaster, I loved it on the SGS4, M8 and M9.
However, looking back I can count the number of times I used it on each device. It was great to have when needed, but just that, when needed and that wasn't much.
It's not something that was a game changer when choosing the device for me.
I'd like to have it and would consider checking out something like the above for when I may need it. (however the shipping said up to 55 days, with no tracking.. I'd like to find an alternative site to purchase from)

I know, that's why my OP said "something similar to this on their HTC 10"
Android versions are available but I've not yet seen seen a greet feedback on one saying conclusively that it works well with an HTC 10. Hence my post...

May be a little late, but i recently bought this item and technically it's working but the signal is so weak it's unusable. You need to put the phone right in front of the ir reciever to get it working.

There are better 3.5mm ir blasters that work. And some advice, if you are buying the 10, go for the silver or red variant, the black one is so prone to scrathing and paint chiping. Other than that, the phone is great, you won't regret it.
I have a similar IR blaster but is far away from the functions and precision from my previous M9 and M7. It uses an app called ZaZa Remote which hasn't the features that Peel has like the shows that are passing in the moment.
It also have precision issues and the distance range is very poor. You need to disable Dolby Audio in order to work "properly".
I wouldn't recommend it but considering cheapness of the device and that is the only option, go ahead and try it yourself, maybe you have more luck than me.
