Good afternoon,
Can someone please assist? As the title reads, people are sending me pictures, and I'm not able to see them. I don't even get the download option, nothing comes up period. My phone's rooted and no special ROMs are installed. I went into Settings > More... > Mobile networks > and Data Enabled is turned on. I'm using Handcent. Not sure what other information is needed, but does anyone have any ideas?
Also, not sure how to update to Android version 4.0.3. My phone is rooted and the check for updates button says it's up to date but I'm not on 4.0.3. Sorry if I sound like a complete noob haha

I'd first check the settings for mms in the SMS program you're using.
Also 4.0.3 is not available on the gnex unless you're on a custom rom. Verizon is on 4.0.2 and some GSM models are still on 4.0.1

Just fyi if you have wifi on sending and receiving mms messages well either take forever or not happen at all
I forgot I disabled handcent as my default sms/mms application so Vlingo could do TTS. Thanks guys!

My apologies if this has already been brought up, but I searched all over the place for an answer. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciate.
Issue:
When using PdaNet, there's an option to send/receive SMS via your pc. I'm able to send texts, but i'm not able to receive them through this software. Any ideas? I have "Intercept Incoming SMS" checked.
Let me start by saying I've done the following.
- Galaxy Nexus is rooted.
- I have debugging enabled.
- I have the latest Samsung USB drivers.
- Have PdaNet installed on both my desktop and my GN. (I can alrdy connect fine).
Any thoughts on why I can send but not receive?
Also, are there any TTS applications out yet for Galaxy Nexus? I want my text messages read aloud. I know Handcent has one built in, but you have to click the MIC button for it to be read. I want it to just speak once the message arrives.
Thanks in advance!!!!!
Any takers?
I know this is not the answer you are looking for but if you want the functionality just download an app called airdroid it is in the market.

No, that wasn't what I was looking for but WOW, that app is AMAZING!!! Thank you very much for that find! I guess I will consider the peanut question answered since I can text from PC now.
Any thoughts on the text to talk app thought so my texts are read out loud automatically while driving?

Hey XDA, I've had the nexus now for probably 2 months and I love it, I'm running aokp m4 and Franco's m2. I haven't had and problems except for one. The problem is.. I can't send mms messages when wifi is enabled if I go out and I'm just on the carriers network it sends fine but when I'm at home with wifi as the main access point and the carriers network in the background I can send texts but cannot get or send mms

Any help on this?

thats wierd i noticed the same thing too yesterday, i am on AOKP b31
data and wifi and cell all work fine. when i want to send a mms it tells me that it isnt activated in my network!?!?!
Yeah its so weird, just to get this straight , wifi and the network are enabled at the same time so whenever I have to send a pic or something I have to disable wofi
. Shouldn't the carrier run in the background for things like mms and just take over?

So, for some reason the GNex has to be connected to 3G to send or to receive MMS messages. When I'm connected to Wi-Fi, it won't automatically download, or even notify me of, an MMS message. I've had many people yell at me for not answering their messages when they send me a picture message, but really the phone just doesn't ring for them....
On my HTC Rezound, the phone would automatically turn on 3G to download the MMS, and it would notify me of the messages. Is there any way to make the Nexus do that?
I'm on CM10 (not that I would expect that to make any real difference)
bump

I ask a question almost same as yours before and the answer i get was. U just need to enable ur data connection to receive MMS. Apparently, the nexus is not so smart to handle a simple task as sending/receiving MMS data automatically...

It is actually your provider restricting access to their MMS servers from their network only. It has nothing to do with Android or the Galaxy Nexus.
Also, if you're on WiFi what's the harm in leaving data enabled?

Nah...i mean samsung. I used two xperia phones before and never had to enable data to handle MMS. It just automatically send/receive it,like the era before smartphones...

My nexus turns on 3g automatically and downloads the MMS while I'm still connected to wifi. I see it happen daily. The gsm one has always done this.
Its weird I can send MMS(pics) while on WiFi but sounds or video won't send until I'm on 3g or 2g

My phone is less lazy. It will do MMS about 60% of the time while I'm on wifi! Been that way since 4.0.2

Doesn't the Sprint version come stock with Google Voice?
Sent from my AOSP Android 4.1.1 Galaxy Nexus.
Sprint integrates with Google voice in the nexus to get the service through gv
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Actually, you don't have to integrate. You can skip that, set it for voicemail only, go on PC and change settings for call screening, email and text notifications, and it'll work just the same as Sprint VVM.

MMS not working
Hi, I received my device a few weeks ago, direct from T-Mobile as a replacement, and immediately used the motochopper method on my mac to gain root on my SIII with LTE. I am not running any custom roms. Yet I cannot send a MMS message. It just spins forever; trying to send. I have verified that my micro SIM card works properly and my device has the correct APN settings according to T-Mobile USA (I have tried both fast.t-mobile.com and epc.tmobile.com without any luck). I have uninstalled AdAway and turned off CPU Tuner, LBE Privacy Guard, and Lookout. The only other rooted apps I have installed are BusyBox, SuperSU, Greenify, AutoKiller Memory Optimizer, Mobile ODIN, ROM Manager, SystemHelper, Titanium Backup, Delayed Lock, and Voodoo OTA RootKeeper. Is there an app that can assess my configurations to determine what is causing the MMS failure? I do not believe the device is faulty. I tried using Go SMS Pro and Handcent SMS with out any luck as well. Thanks in advance!
I would start over. Back up your important data and factory reset (you wont lose root). I have a feeling it may have something to do with one or more of the apps you just listed, like LBE, auto killer, etc or possibly a combination of them. Start completely clean and test if you can send/receive normally. If so, install one app at a time testing each one.
If it continues w/o any apps installed, then call T-Mobile and ask them to reset your account. See if they have any ideas if that doesnt work. Id also replace the sim at a T-Mobile store. Theyll swap for free if yours could be faulty.
