Today I Traded my wifes old MyTouch 4G for a GT-I9100 (The Real GS2) Unbranded and Unlocked. I Installed CWM & Rooted it. I installed VillanRom 3.0 and ran some Quadrants to see what this thing could do. I started off with 1.4GHz ondemand with SetCpu and first score was 3950 lol. The second one I bumped it to 1.6GHz and thru down 4750 Then it rebooted itself on the third, But I mean Damn this thing is fast.
To bad I can only get EDGE with it or I would keep it. This is going to make one happy AT&T user!! Craigslist or Ebay it goes soon, but I do want to play with it a few days. lol
Our T-Mobile Variant does'nt stand a chance against this Beast. LMAO

I had my Wifes MyTouch for sale on Craigslist for $225 Modded to the max. This guy text me and asked me if I could root his GT-I9100 because he could only pick up the EDGE Network. I told him that phone is the international version and he would not get 3 much less 4G. He asked if I would trade for it, I told him sure no problem that it would make me a great Dev Phone. we met and did the EVEN trade. Lol The I9100 is like new. Haha

I wish it would, but I have been on the I9100 forums most of the day and everyone says it does'nt support 1700MHz or 2100MHz (Our 3g and 4g) but it does support AT&T HSPA+.

You made a flame bait thread and then you do not even want to hear the truth. Before you tell people to stfu you should learn not to start a flame thread. You can't even have normal conversation without calling someone a retard. It be different if it was a nice comparison between the actual two devices. I would of left this thread alone.
Then you start by showing how big you feel on the Internet. The difference between two products is hardly night and day. Not like I can't run android apps because I don't have a exynos chipset. My phone still makes calls and still does literally and what the other variants can do. Unless the other variants with the exynos chipset grants me the ability to fly then there is no difference.

Sorry for the cursing, but here he chimes in with GD Phone and quite frankly pissed me off. No I dont Rely on Benchmarks, but it is what it is. There were no shady mods done to boost #s. I own both phones and should be able to tell wich is faster. Clearly the processors on the GT-I9100 will Smoke Our T-Mobile US Versions.

I wouldn't even test both phones unless they are the same playing field. Both running cm 7 or 9. Both have different kernel optimizations.
A flag ship device with the same internals which has had tons of tweaks and optimization. For at least year compared to Samsung which probably work on this device for the most at less than three months.
Forgive me for coming off rude. But in all reality you can't compare these two devices unless everything is put on the table on a fair ground. All phones are different just because the does the best benchmarks does that mean anything no it doesn't. People have the galaxy s2 but are still selling their phone for ics and a galaxy nexus. As I see it now it not a difference maybe in the far distance like a year or two future processors will matter.

From what I seen the original Samsung Galaxy s2. Started at 2.3.1. Gingerbread and. Pretty much Samsung start optimizing till 2.3.7 which was a year. They also have advantage of having an international phone which brings developers from around the world to work together and optimized each other's stuff. When you have dozens of people tweaking the same things they start to get refine. Then performance starts to show.

I plan on staying with the epic. I want the keyboard. Also, when we get GB and the cm7 team gets into the main line, the epic will be a solid enough phone to use until hardware platforms have netbook level performance and the software is robust enough to use it. Until that, a new screen or a few more mhz doesn't really get me excited.

i hate the iphone cause steve wont allow flash and other things on it. you also cant have an extended battery to switch out to like on the epic and evo.
The epic is a great phone, and as things progress other phones will replace it... i do think that acs, rob and others have done a great job. Now that they are leaving what does this mean. Rob sold his and i feel bad that he got so little, perhaps we should have driven up the bidding for him.... I wish someone would call a local charity in Robs area and see if someone can donate a new van or something similar for them. Perhaps a fund raiser for awareness that goes to a charity that will hold a drawing for something and then donate a van to robs family. Perhaps someone has an idea also...

to me duel cores and full touch wiz or sense 3.x are well worth the next upgrade, especially with the evo 3d. I tried the touch wiz 4.x and its great but not much better then touch wiz 3. I think that by moving the page numbers to the bottom is bad idea, apple may sue over it again (hehe) I hope some one can port a full touch wiz with tw gadgets to the nexus s. I think that the next wave of phones will be faster then home computers....

I haven't gone anywhere. There just really isn't anything new to work with. I might play around with the EE03 again. Maybe do a BYOR edition. If it's gonna be a bit between builds then it might be worth it.
I did go to the Nexus S 4G for about 2 days. Then swapped it out for the Epic. There are a few reasons why but the ones that would concern someone looking to jump ship are as follows. No led indicator (charging, notifications ect), 720x480 MAX for video recording and ONLY in 3gp (There is great debate over whether or not this will get fixed). Also there is very little codec support as well. The Epic will flawlessly play 720p rips in .mkv format the Nexus won't. There are little things like, in a call you can't pull down the notification menu. At least I couldn't.
There are also several pluses to the Nexus. It's a solid piece of hardware. The Curved screen is simply amazing. Very responsive and very clean. The Nexus S 4G is honestly a SWEET phone.
From the Epic it's more of a lateral move and then maybe down a few rungs.
Right now IMO, the Epic is still the top dog. Even after the Evo 3D arrives the Epic will be far from obsolete. I'm looking to the GS II in the future.
Today's moral is "the Epic is NOT dead"

well right now we are top dogs with the evo 4g. But once the duel cores come out then we wont be top dog, even though our phones are plenty great thanks to you and others. I loved the Midnight roms 5.x but the only issue with ext4 was jourling on. Even when it was turned on and wipped and even formating 3x each option i would get randon fc or reboots. I no longer have that phone as it got traded. I trade several times this month between the evo 4g and the epic. I just cant make up my mind. The epic has the better cpu/gpu the evo has the sense 3.x ports and 1gb rom while the epic has 512mb rom.... But i must say the epic wins out mostly because of odin... but one last thing. the round button by the camera.... i think its a reset if bricked just pull the battey for a minute or two, then press it in for a minute then let the unit sit for an hour or two and then try the odin method again... worked on a previous epic.... i may try your midnight 6 but i miss the touch wiz but i may use the beta 4 of touch wiz or go launcher... and it seems to me that adw, launcher pro and go launcher are all the same just with a few tweeks, even the options menu seems the same,...

Aside from the fact that when I read OP I was all like "what is this I don't even", if we are to assume that he intends to take exception with the "graphics or camera" I must profess, with as stiff an upper lip as I can muster, that I would prefer he were to GTFO with his trolling.
If by some peculiar stretch of the internet's good will OP has truly spoken with veracity of his mind and thoughts, well, I think it goes without saying that the sooner his opinion be disregarded the better.
I've never seen a better cellphone camera, hands down, ever. I'm pretty blown away. So far as "graphics" are concerned--as vacuous as such a statement is--we'll assume he means anything to do with 3D graphic rendering and/or reproduction. Also the finest performance I've ever seen on a cell phone. Sure, it isn't qHD, but if that is a surprise to you it would suit you well to stop purchasing bleeding edge smartphones without knowing what the hell you are talking about.
The bad:
Supplies charging cable too short.
I guess no phone can be perfect
My dislike is the screen wake lagg, and which will just doubtedly be fixed in a rom or kernel and it won't make me any food??? I'm waiting though..

I just wish this phone was able to make me a sammich and get me a beer.
The camera is pretty sweet, though the Epic was good too. (My N8 smashes it, but then again that's that phone's main selling point.)
I haven't used it long enough to check out the radios, but it seems like Samsung pulled it together.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
I agree - the bad being the shortest charging cable I've ever seen! Barely reaches the top of the nightstand...
Fortunately easily solved on Amazon - actual Samsung branded car charger cord for $4, home charger with longer cord for $6, $1.50 for a longer Samsung USB cable...
I was also disappointed that it didn't come with a micro SD card. My buddy's DroidX I think has 16gb onboard, and came with a 16gb card too. To me, 16gb onboard is more than I need, but for a "superphone" dolled up with all these extras and details, figured they wouldn't go cheap on the power cord and no SD card.
I'm only partly disappointed that the screen resolution isn't 960x540 like the Bionic and a few others. It's not really any disadvantage, and I'd easily pick the rich colors and ridiculously black blacks over a higher res anyday - so much easier on the eyes. But mostly on principal - I'm still shaking my head that the iPhone 4 has been out so long, and it should have been 3 weeks (I'm exaggerating) before other phones came out with screens of either similar pixel density or resolution. It's not rocket science, and Apple does all their manufacturing through contract manufacturers for this stuff... a true OEM like Samsung should be able to nail that one pretty easily, right?
Also saw some GPS numbers on another thread that showed only ho-hum GPS reception... the comparison phone walked all over it. But (to stay positive), if there was a radio/antenna to skimp out on, I'm glad it was this one.

I much prefer this phone over my 3D for many reasons. I can't think of an existing phone I'd rather have but I will say
The EVO 3D got better data speeds for me - that is based on regular test in the same location.
I prefer sense but that is a matter of opinion.
This thing seems to take longer to charge than any phone I've had using the AD charger.

Agreed!
My only other complaint is the phone doesn't store my screen timeout settings through reboot nor my contact shortcuts using buddy now. After every boot I have to change this again. It is a bit frustrating. Anyone else having that issue? Other than these mentioned things the phone is amazing and I will have a hard time getting anything else for quite some time I think.

I took a picture with my old Epic and then my wife took the same pic with her Nexes 4G and I compared all pic's and the Epic 4G and Nexes 4g had better pic quality than my new Epic 4G touch.
But that's not a deal breaker I still love the phone.
And the charger cord is to short ( LOL ) But I have a lot of them around the house.
Well enough about this... TIME TO ROOT THIS BABY!

I agree I love this phone but the data speeds are a little low. I got with full bars of 4g on my evo 3d 2200 kbs and on my epic touch I am lucky to get 1100 kbs that is the main thing I see wrong or that I dont like about this phone. But that can be easily fixed with a radio update like they did on the 3d.

I was a little disappointed that the E4GT will not walk my dog for me. I hear the new quad core phones coming out in Q1 2012 will and I can't wait for that. Other than that, this phone blows away anything else I have had....and I have had them all......

Oh No MetalHead! What Happened???
He must support SOPA, frivolous patent lawsuits, be against big corporations, afraid of change, andjust enough freedom to change your wallpaper. And I agree with Oscar about att, they have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with EVER!
Anyways usually people who have used android and got stuck with an iPhone are desperate to come back within a few weeks.
I could never imagine going from 4.52 screen to 3.5 screen .

based on my past, you think id be here to bash you for switching to iphone. im not going to. youre an adult, you understand your choice.
question is, Sprint sells the iPhone and wont cap your data. why leave for theirs? no upgrade availability?
I won't comment IPhone part but AT&T as carrier is horrible. After 7 years of service I paid termination fees for 3 lines (only 4 months after accepting last 2 year term) because of their horrible customer services (t-mobile cs is not far away from them). Not to mention your 2GB data limit on AT&T, and increased termination fees....
If AT&T somehow manage to become only wireless carrier I will move to PAYPHONE, but won't go there... but that just me. Good luck! Sorry if my post wasn't on place...

I went with AT&T because Sprint's data speeds have gotten worse and worse. There's no point in having unlimited data if you can't even use it. I could leave my E4GT downloading something at full speed for a month and not even hit the 5GB cap that I have with AT&T now. I have been averaging 100-150 kb/s which is absolutely ridiculous. AT&T's HSPA+ gets me anywhere from 5-6 mb/s on average and that's faster than I was getting with Sprint's 4G, when I was able to actually lock on to a signal. There was seriously no point in having such a bad ass phone if I couldn't even use data on it. I also tried Verizon and the Galaxy Nexus a month or so ago and was not happy with their service, and couldn't justify leaving the E4GT for a device that was for all intents and purposes, inferior. So that left me with T-Mobile and AT&T, and T-Mobile's phone selection sucks.
Now for the why I got the iPhone. My intentions originally were to grab the SGS2. I knew for a fact that I was going to love it, so I wanted to take advantage of the 30 day buyer's remorse period and try something different for a few weeks, return whatever I got and then pick up the SGS2. It was between the iPhone and the Titan. I opted for the iPhone because I have an iPad 2 and already have a ton of universal games that I can download right away to the iPhone. The screen is tiny on it, but the more I use it the more comfortable it is. I don't have to do any type of finger acrobatics to reach the farthest corners of the screen. So yeah it's tiny but there is a plus to that. And the retina display is lovely (black levels suck but it's a fair trade off). So after having the iPhone for a couple weeks I really started to fall in love with its simplicity. It really is a beautifully made device, and iOS does feel very elegant to me. I swear to god my intentions were to return it but I love it now, what can I say. What's crazy is that I really thought I was going to hate it (and I did for the first couple of days).
So now, I have decided that I would stick with the iPhone over the SGS2- I already had an SGS2 variant and I am digging the change. So my other option now is the Note and man that thing is slick. But it has a strike against it already- Snapdragon. Not a real Galaxy device in my eyes. Whatever though, the Adreno 220 is a sick GPU so I'll let it slide. So I go to Best Buy the other day and they have a dummy Note on display. It's f*cking MASSIVE. No way in hell would I be caught dead holding that thing against my face. It quite literally makes the E4GT look like an iPhone size wise. Seriously, hold an iPhone up to an E4GT and that is roughly the same size difference between the E4GT and the Note. It is way to big to be practical for me so it is ruled out.
So now I have decided to keep my iPhone. I have looked into jailbreaking and all the available mods and there are tons. I think I'm going to have a lot of fun modding this thing, and you would be surprised how many ways you can customize it. Dare I say it, but it does seem you (the average modder) can do more with a jailbroken iPhone than an Android phone, and I haven't even scratched the surface of it. I still love Android, of course, and I do miss a lot of things about it terribly, but I am enjoying my time with my new iPhone.
One of the perks of AT&T over Sprint is this whole sim card business. I already started searching craigslist for a good deal on an SGS2 so I can have both devices and switch 'em around depending on my mood for the day. I most definitely will get another Android phone, there is no question about it.
So that's my story. I haven't switched alliances, I am still an Android fan first, I am just having an affair with the iPhone
metalhead, as it so happens, i received my epic 4g touch today and i'm coming from at&t. the reason i'm leaving at&t is because i'm on unlimited data plan and they're sending us (customers with unlimited data) texts and emails saying that we're in the top 5% of data users and that if we continue, our speed will be throttled. (last month i used close to 2gb of data and they still sent me the text.) this throttle will only be for unlimited plan customers, not for tiered customers (so you wouldn't be affected by throttling). but if they treat me like that, who has been with them since 1999, i can only imagine how bad they'd treat new customers. i'm sure they'll find a way to screw you guys too...
p.s. i have a family plan with 5 phones total and that doesn't matter to them.

I have to agree with you on the sprint data. Not enough to make me go to an iphone but I'm finding it harder and harder to justify paying for a useless unlimited plan. I live in an area where the fastest 3g speeds I've seen are 100kbps so I have to use the prl hack to get a whopping 600kbps. On top of that, the only 4g service around me works for about a one mile radius around best buy so they can show off how fast the network is. Other than that the closest 4g is about two hours away. but I still get charged an extra $20 a month for two phones for "premium data".
Lol @ iPhone.

I can. Try a Vivid, with almost the same CPU (yes, S3 and clocked at 1.2), same amount of storage, and someone who lives in a non LTE area. We won't be getting LTE til prolly winter at the earliest. Even then, I'm only on WiFi and can't justify buying the at&t version when I would feel that it is an incremental upgrade over the Vivid. Besides, I would be buying it off contract anyway, so why not get the One (pun intended) that I feel would be a TRUE upgrade over the Vivid. That is my reasoning behing getting the unlocked T3 X.

Both of you are wrong, dual s4 is not the s3, the CPU is leaps better, however the GPU is the same GPU at higher clocks with added functions
as for 2x s4 > 5+1, t3 wrong again, do some proper research

No, read my post again. Excluding CPU, everything else in the Vivid would be an incremental upgrade. Major point is, I DON'T NEED LTE. I live outside of Memphis, TN. Memphis hasn't even got LTE yet, and won't til next year. I'm also on WiFi all the time and don't use any of my allotted 200MB. 2nd major point, I WILL BE PAYING FULL PRICE. I had a Snapdragon in my Inspire and now my Vivid. I want to try a different CPU while sticking with my favorite manufacturer, which is HTC. I don't care which is better, I have to pay full price for whichever I go with. So I will pay the additional amount of money over the AT&T version and buy the unlocked version. Not bein a butt here at all. I just don't wanna hear which is better til I can take my unlocked One X into AT&T and compare it to their version. I don't trust benchmarks for smartphones as they are easily manipulated unlike PC benchmarking software. I want to see real world performance and no lag.

Regardless of what it has internally, we are both gonna get the X and enjoy the crap out of them. Enjoy yours, cause I know I will enjoy mine! And that is what is what's most important. Funny thing is I won't be able to get mine til AT&T releases it anyway. Lol

I'm sorry if this isn't the place for it, but it's time to say goodbye to the Nexus community. I have liked and disliked this phone. I loved the ROMs, the community, the endless entertainment of the Q&A section. I disliked the trolls, and the battery life. Overall, I loved owning this phone. Especially big shoutouts to morfic for helping me with kernel issues, fitsnugly for his amazing CM10 kang, tiny for his epic kernel, and many others. However, I have sold it and tomorrow my Galaxy S III arrives. I only upgraded because I got a fantastic deal on both selling my Nexus and buying the SIII. So, peace out Nexus community. What was the deal?
-Brought to you by Marino's Galaxy Nexus-
Sold my Gnex and accessories for $300. S3 for $385.
You're gonna regret that.
I have a gnex, bought an S3 thinking it was the sh*t, now I'm selling it and going back to the gnex and bought myself a nexus 7.
I never should have left the nexus community.
Project butter doesn't work on the S3, Samsung won't release sources for the exynos processor so the cm team can't get project butter to work on cm either.

I understand that Nexus people are going to love Nexuses. But if you look at it from my perspective, it makes sense. First of all, there's still tons of developers like incubus, morfic, imo, etc. I like Nature UX. The VZW S3 does not use an Exynos Processor. AOSP ROMs are nearing completion, TW is stable. Battery life is fantastic, along with performance, same with the screen. I'm sorry, but you can't convince me that it isn't an upgrade. The LG Nexus is awesome looking, except if Google has half a brain, they won't let VZW get their hands on it.

None of the US S3 use exynos, so for once we can't blame VZW, and it makes the comment difficult to comprehend.

Anyways to the OP have fun enjoy the phone I hope you like it.

TW makes me cry.
It'd be hard to leave this phone behind anyway.

I did the switch from the GNex to the GSiii and I honestly don't regret it. In love my screen size and it looks beautiful. The home button isn't such a big deal. I'm able to turn off the menu and back button so you can't eben tell they're there. I really fast running PsranoidAndroid with lean kernel. I've had this phone since sept 5 and I've loved it. Oh yea, my data speeds are a lot better too.

Thats were the problem lies, if i buy something that is on paper newer and better, and then i have to tweak the hell out of it to make it acceptable, well maybe i can just hang on to my nexus until a newer and better nexus comes along. Enjoy your s3.
S3 --------- 99.99 for 16gb, and 199.99 for 32gb at AmazonWireless right now Damn nice sale!!!
That awkward moment when OP posts a farewell thread but no one knows who he is... or cares.
